Chapter 5: Performing Arts

Faced with the boss's cold and indifferent attitude, Zhao Si could only look at the pancake that flew away from his hand with regret, and then left the street sadly.

It seems that this silver can't be used anymore. No wonder the young man I met last night was so angry when he saw me take out the silver. I blamed him for being too angry and the car was too expensive. Alas, it turns out that I blamed him wrongly.

Hungry, Zhao Si wandered around the street for a while. He didn't dare to use the money to buy food, so he just smelled the food on the street and took a look at what the RMB looked like.

So everyone who came to have breakfast today saw a handsome guy in strange clothes sneaking around nearby, as if he was scouting the place.

If Zhao Si had not maintained his instinctive alertness to danger as a martial artist and retreated in time, he might have been drinking tea in the police station by now.

Zhao Si walked back to the park reluctantly. He had originally planned to apply for an ID card after breakfast, but now it seems that there is no need to do so. Even if he has the ID card, he has no money and still cannot stay in the inn, so he doesn't need to waste his time.

So what should he do next? Sleeping in the park is fine, but he can't just go without food and water. Man is iron and rice is steel. Even if he has great martial arts skills and deep internal strength, he will still starve to death.

As he was thinking, Zhao Si suddenly remembered the half-eaten steamed bun. He quickly took it out from his bag, held it in his hand and looked at it like a treasure for a long time before reluctantly taking a small bite.

It’s choking, really choking, but it’s also really fragrant and delicious!

······

Li Yilin acted quickly. Early in the morning, Gu Lingfeng received a call from the finance department, saying that the liquidated damages had been received. He got up and washed his face. Breakfast was already on the table. The aunt from the family had prepared it in advance. There were milk sandwiches, porridge, buns, and fried eggs. He could eat whatever he wanted.

He pulled out a stool and sat down, picked up the milk and took a sip, then took out his cell phone, logged into the studio's official account, and posted a Weibo.

Lingfeng Entertainment: "I wish @李易林 a bright future and a peaceful future."

Soon, the comment section of this Weibo post was occupied by Li Yilin's fans. Some asked what was going on, and some speculated whether their brother had terminated the contract. Of course, there was also a group of people who were hard to tell whether they were black fans or brainless fans. They kept scolding the company and indiscriminately questioned whether their brother was bullied.

Gu Lingfeng was too lazy to read these. Lingfeng Entertainment was not listed anyway, and he was the only investor. There was no need to explain anything to anyone. He could do whatever he wanted.

He was leisurely eating breakfast when calls came in from all directions. There were gossip reporters who pretended to be concerned but actually wanted to dig out inside information, competing companies who wanted to inquire about information and poach employees, and the client who currently had resources and endorsements for Li Yilin.

Gu Lingfeng responded calmly, "There's no inside information. It's just a normal contract expiration and non-renewal."

"A new company? I don't know. If you want to sign him, go contact him yourself."

"No, there's no law or discipline involved. Don't worry, it won't affect your brand image."

Phone calls kept coming in, and Gu Lingfeng's decision to become a manager, which he had never regretted, was shaken unprecedentedly at this moment.

The wave of phone bombardment finally passed, and Gu Lingfeng breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't know it was because Li Yilin, the person involved in this incident, finally posted on Weibo. He first thanked the company for its careful training, then explained that it was a normal contract expiration, and finally announced his new agency.

Finally, he could eat breakfast peacefully. Gu Lingfeng let out a long breath and took a bite of his sandwich.

Ring ring ring

The phone rang again. Gu Lingfeng picked it up angrily. It was Gu Lingyun. He drank a sip of milk to clear his throat, suppressed his anger, and said obediently, "Brother."

"Yeah." Gu Lingfeng's calm and steady voice came from the phone, "Has the contract with Li Yilin been terminated?"

"Yes, the contract was terminated yesterday."

"Yeah." His tone was still calm, as if he was not surprised at all. After a moment of silence, Gu Lingyun continued: "Dad asked me to ask you to come back to help."

Gu Lingfeng sat up straighter, his voice filled with unconscious coquettishness, "Brother, I don't want to go back. You know I don't like those things in the company, and having you in the company is enough."

"Okay, got it." After saying that, Gu Lingyun hung up the phone.

Gu Lingfeng smiled as he watched the phone suddenly hang up. He had known since childhood that although his brother had a stern expression and always looked serious, and didn't seem particularly close to him, he was incredibly kind to him. As long as he wanted to do something, as long as it didn't violate laws or principles, Gu Lingyun would never say no.

If it weren't for Gu Lingyun's protection, his life would not be so comfortable now.

After hanging up the phone, Gu Lingfeng's depression was gone.

Who am I? I'm Gu Lingfeng! Isn't I just a new guy? I don't believe I can't find one! I must find someone more handsome and better than Li Yilin and beat his face up!

······

Zhao Si spent the day strolling through the park. He had to admit, this artificially created landscape was quite interesting. While it couldn't compare to the natural wonders he'd seen before, it had a certain cultural charm that he couldn't quite put his finger on. He wandered slowly through the park, feeling quite good despite being very hungry.

In the evening, another group of elderly men and women poured into the park, and the dam outside the park was completely packed. Groups of people gathered in batches, surrounding a large, dark figure and dancing wildly. From the figure came deafening songs that Zhao Si couldn't understand. The whole scene seemed a bit eerie, but Zhao Si silently believed that this was a new form of sacrifice, very sacred and mysterious.
