Chapter 5 Bai Zilin
When Grandma Liu realized she had hit the wrong person, she raised the sole of her shoe high again and swung it around to hit Liu Ye on the head. Before Aunt Liu could react, Liu Ye pushed her forward, and she took another solid hit from the old lady's shoe.
"Slap!" "Ouch, my goodness! Why did you hit me again? You did it on purpose, didn't you!"
Old Mrs. Liu roared angrily, "You motherfucker! Why don't you hurry up and help me catch that big idiot? Today I'm going to teach her a lesson. That slut gave birth to a big idiot, not a single one of them is any good!"
Liu Ye thought to herself, "You're the old slut." Aunt Liu turned around to grab Liu Ye, but Liu Ye kicked her in the stomach. Right behind Aunt Liu was Old Madam Liu, and Liu Ye sat down on Old Madam Liu, almost making Old Madam Liu shit herself.
"Ah! You wretched woman, are you trying to sit on me to death?! I'll fuck your grandma!"
Enraged, Old Mrs. Liu grabbed her shoe and slapped Liu's second aunt's head repeatedly: "You slut, you useless whore, I'll fuck your mother's blood!"
Aunt Liu Er crawled off the old lady, clutching her head. With one hand on her stomach and the other clenched into a claw, she gritted her teeth and grabbed at Liu Ye: "You damned idiot, how dare you hit an elder! I'll kill you, you big moron!"
Liu Ye took off running towards the gate, and Aunt Liu Er chased after her, clutching her stomach: "You stop right there, you big idiot, you stop right there, you stupid idiot, you stop right there!"
The more Aunt Liu shouted, the faster Liu Ye ran, disappearing into the village in no time. Aunt Liu was so angry that she squatted on the ground, clutching her stomach and panting heavily: "You damned idiot, you just wait, when you come back I'll skin you alive!"
Aunt Liu had rested for a while, then stood up, clutching her stomach, and turned to go home. That damned idiot! That kick made her stomach hurt so much! That idiot is just like her tiger mother!
Seeing that Aunt Liu hadn't caught up, Liu Ye stopped running. However, she couldn't go back to the Liu family either; they were a bunch of beasts who only knew how to bully a silly girl.
She couldn't go up the mountain late at night; there seemed to be wolves and even tigers there. She circled around and saw that every house in the village had its doors tightly shut, and there wasn't even a light in sight. She and Old Lady Liu were fighting so fiercely, yet no one came out to watch the commotion. It was really strange.
Oh dear, where will she stay? No, she has somewhere to go. There are a few dilapidated old houses at the edge of the village. The silly girl often spends the night there. She can spend the night there too.
Following the silly girl's memory, Liu Ye quickly arrived at the old house at the village entrance. This must be the old house. Can anyone live here? The mud house is almost leaning towards Grandma's house, and it looks like it's about to collapse. She can't live here. What if the house collapses and buries her inside? This place will become her grave.
As the old saying goes, it's better to live a miserable life than to die a good death. She went around to the back of the old house and found a woodpile in the corner. Well, it was hot, so she could sleep on the outside. She quickly climbed onto the woodpile, which was a dry haystack and felt very soft when she stepped on it.
Liu Ye found a good spot and lay down on the woodpile, but then she realized something was wrong. She quickly sat up. What was that? She reached out and touched the spot where she was lying and found a dent, like a nest made of something.
Willow Leaf parted the grass covering the burrow, and by the moonlight, she could clearly see a large nest of eggs inside. "Oh, Goddess Nuwa! So there was a chicken coop here! She's caught it!"
"12345, 35" 35 eggs. But it's so hot today, won't the eggs spoil? Oh well, never mind, I'll just put them away first. Even rotten eggs can be eaten if there's nothing else to eat. She put the eggs into her space, lay down on the haystack, closed her eyes, and prepared to go to sleep.
Before she could fall asleep, she heard noises coming from next door to the old house: the sound of doors opening and closing, the clatter of pots and pans. It sounded like someone was cooking, and sure enough, a moment later, the aroma of meat wafted into her nose.
Liu Ye wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth with her sleeve, sat up from the haystack, and looked at the house next door. What time was it? This family was still cooking! It smelled like they were boiling meat. (_)
At the Bai family next door, Bai Zilin brought the cooked rabbit meat to his parents' room and placed it on the table on the kang (a heated brick bed): "Father, Mother, Zimei is ready to eat."
The Bai family couple scrambled to sit down at the table, and Bai Zimei had already picked up a piece of rabbit meat and started gnawing on it: "Brother, this rabbit is so skinny today, there's hardly any meat on it."
Bai Zilin's father, whom everyone in the village called Boss Bai, and the younger generation called Uncle Bai, glared at Bai Zimei and said, "You're lucky to have anything to eat, and you're still being picky. You're a money-loser!"
Bai Zimei shrank back after being scolded, but that didn't stop her from eating the meat. Bai Zilin's mother, Bai Wangshi, stared longingly at the meat in the bowl, but didn't dare to take a piece. Bai Zilin picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of meat from the bowl, and put it in his mother's bowl: "Mother, you eat too."
Uncle Bai glared fiercely at Bai Wangshi, who was so frightened that she immediately took the rabbit meat from her bowl and put it in his bowl: "I'm not hungry, I'll be full after drinking some soup..."
Uncle Bai snorted, picked up a piece of rabbit leg with the most meat, and began to gnaw on it: "Hmm, there's not much meat. Zilin, you should go up the mountain early tomorrow. If you go up the mountain early, you might run into a fat rabbit, maybe even a deer, a wild boar, or even a bear. If you can catch a bear, we won't have to worry about money for our trip to the south."
Bai Zilin didn't say anything or nod. He picked up a piece of bone with less meat and gnawed on it in small bites. When he finished the bone and wanted to pick up another piece, he saw that there was only some soup left in the bowl...
Uncle Bai patted his belly with a satisfied look and bounced his butt back: "Mmm, meat is still the best! You old hag, I'll make a porridge with this rabbit meat soup tomorrow, at least it'll have some meaty smell."
Bai Wangshi nodded with a wronged expression: "Oh."
Bai Zilin put his chopsticks on the table: "It's getting late, Mom and Dad should get some rest. I'm going back to my room to sleep too."
Uncle Bai waved his hand without even looking up: "Go on, go on. Don't forget to come up the mountain early tomorrow, you good-for-nothing! Hurry up and pick up the table, what are you looking at?!"
"Oh," Bai Zimei quickly got up to pick up the table. Bai Zilin, with a dark face, went to the backyard to go to the outhouse. Suddenly, he looked sharply at the woodpile next door. It looked like someone was sitting on their woodpile!
That's right, the firewood piled up in the old house next door belongs to Bai Zilin's family. Bai Zilin leaped onto the wall and met Liu Ye, who was sitting on the firewood pile, in the eye.
