It no longer looks like a newborn monkey, and it doesn't look so ugly after growing up. The vernix caseosa on its body has all faded away, and the red skin has grown out. Its little face is now very white, and it can be seen that it looks very much like Mo Ru Ru, except that its eyes are narrow and long, like phoenix eyes, inheriting its roots from the Wang family.
There was nothing to do this afternoon, so Wang Shiyu did not continue embroidering. Instead, she sat under the shade of a tree and looked at her brother who was sleeping in the cradle. Mo Ruru and Aunt Niu were making lunch at this time. They were going to treat guests to dinner today, so Mo Ruru was so busy and had no time to look after the child.
Today is the day that Mr. Liu has taught Zhou Qingyun for a whole year, so they decided to invite Mr. Liu and his wife to have a meal at their home. So it is already afternoon, but they have not had breakfast yet. They are all busy rushing to make food for later.
Because what was agreed with Mr. Liu was that he would devote all his money to teaching Zhou Qingyun for a year, especially since the old man had not come yet. Wang Shiyu didn't know how to deal with this matter. After all, the money was given by the old man. Now it was time for Zhou Qingyun to treat Mr. Liu to a thank-you dinner. Regardless of whether Mr. Liu could continue to teach in the future, this meal must be treated.
Sure enough, around three o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Liu came with his daughter. Mr. Liu's daughter was called Liu Ying, a very nice name. She was younger, just six years old this year. Because she was bedridden for many years and had no playmates, she liked children more, especially those who could not speak yet. When facing children, Liu Ying could chatter all day long without stopping, and the baby in the cradle would sometimes babble a few words. The two people who were talking at cross purposes had a very happy chat.
Wang Shiyu didn't care about that. She just watched her brother who was entertaining his sleep. This was to prevent any accidents from happening. She just sat by and watched. After all, the door was open now to prevent anyone from coming in to steal the child, to prevent Liu Ying from running out casually, and to prevent the old man from suddenly appearing and scaring people.
“Meow meow meow!!!”
Just when she was thinking about what the old man would do next, she suddenly heard a strange cat meow coming from outside the door. The meow... sounded a bit like someone screaming with their throat pinched. Not only was the sound shrill, it also sounded a bit like the voice of a eunuch from the palace, which was very unpleasant.
Whose nice cat calls like this?
She walked to the door thoughtfully, and saw the old man in disguise. He was wearing cool clothes with patches on top of patches. He was holding a stick in one hand and leaning on it. In the other hand, he was holding a broken bowl with two copper coins in it. It seemed that the old man had developed a new business for himself and was even earning a good income.
Wang Shiyu looked at Liu Ying who was looking at the door with horror, went over to comfort her, then stood up and went to the door, looking at the disheveled old man. Even on the way to escape, he had never been so disheveled.
"Girl, you are a good person. Can you give me something to eat? I haven't eaten for a whole day and I am so hungry that I can't even walk."
Seeing the gray and miserable look on the old man's face, she couldn't help but want to laugh, but she forced herself to hold it back to prevent the old man from getting angry. After all, it looked like her plan had succeeded.
"I have some leftovers from lunch at home. You can come in and take some, but you can only eat in the yard. You are not allowed to go into the house. My cousin is studying in the house. Please don't disturb him."
Wang Shiyu's face was calm and her tone was unchanged, as if giving some leftovers to beggars was a very easy thing to do. After all, nothing grew in the fields now, so who would have the time to feed beggars?
The old man gritted his teeth, thanked him profusely, and walked into the yard. He turned around and closed the door. Wang Shiyu just glanced at him and didn't say anything. The person who came in was just a thin and poor old man. Even if there were rumors, it didn't matter. After all, this person would not stay for long.
"Old man, my cousin is preparing a teacher appreciation banquet today, so we can't invite you to eat directly in the kitchen. So you can go to the side room over there and have a bite. At least it's not too hot."
After saying that, he took the old man directly to a small house behind the house. Originally, they planned to raise some poultry here, so they built a small house specially. Later, because Mo Ruru's belly became big, and Wang Shiyu was not at home all day, there was no one to take care of these things, so they gave up. The small house was turned into a warehouse, which contained some farm tools and some old stools that were not used at home.
"Okay, okay, it's okay. Will it make your house dirty? Just let me have a full meal."
The old man continued to act, smiling naively, playing the role of a beggar. He must have even learned from the beggars at the city gate for a long time. Looking at his sincere eyes, I wonder if you really thought he was a beggar.
She called her mother and then took the old man directly to the warehouse at the back. Before entering, she looked around to make sure that there was no one around. Then she entered the house and closed the door.
"Grandpa, why are you dressed like this? Shouldn't you be here to pick us up at night?"
Wang Shiyu pretended to be ignorant even though she knew the truth. After all, those people had never left, and she was behind it. Now the old man came here probably because he was forced by those people. He had been hiding for so long, and he would definitely not fail.
After the old man entered the house, he put the bowl in his hand on the ground, then walked to the door and listened carefully. After confirming that there was no sound, he breathed a sigh of relief.
