Chapter 25 Arrival at the First Station

Jiang Ling's trip out and back took less than an hour.

When he came back, Yue Qianli was sitting in the tent watching and waiting for him.

When Yue Qianli saw Jiang Ling returned safely, he felt relieved.

"You've worked hard, go to sleep!" Yue Qianli said softly.

In fact, he felt a little uncomfortable.

If he hadn't been poisoned and unable to move freely, he would have gone with Jiang Ling.

However, he finally swallowed the words he wanted to say, then closed his eyes and lay down.

Jiang Ling was originally quite excited and wanted to share, but after seeing Yue Qianli fall asleep, he thought:

"Forget it. There's still tomorrow anyway. I can talk to him about what happened today then."

So he tidied himself up, lay down on the bed, and soon fell asleep.

The next morning, a faint ray of morning light shone into the carriage through the curtains. Jiang Ling was still immersed in his dream when he was awakened by a gentle patting sound.

"Daddy, get up!"

Yue Anmo's small hands gently patted Jiang Ling's cheek, the sound was crisp and pleasant.

Jiang Ling slowly opened his eyes, and what came into view was Yue Anmo's cute little face.

The little guy was looking at him with expectant eyes, as if he couldn't wait to start the new day.

Jiang Ling couldn't help but smile. He stretched out his arms and took Yue Anmo into his arms. Then he twisted and turned on the bed like a child, mumbling, "Let me sleep a little longer. It's not dawn yet."

"But Father Su is already waiting for us to have breakfast." Yue Anmo said in a baby voice.

Hearing that Yue Qianli was waiting for them, Jiang Ling felt helpless. It was really early!

So he had to get up, jump out of the carriage and prepare to wash.

For Jiang Ling, washing is essential. Even in the end times, he is a clean person every day.

After breakfast, the group continued on their journey.

It is still half a day's journey to the first post station. If all goes well, we expect to arrive at noon.

Sitting in the carriage, Jiang Ling looked at Yue Qianli opposite him and saw him pick up a book and prepare to read.

Jiang Ling couldn't help but sigh, "How can this person be a god of war? He looks just like a scholar. How can he love reading so much?"

Once he reads a book, it will help him sleep well, hahaha.

The roads in ancient times were really difficult to walk on, and the carriages were shaky.

If the carriage hadn't been covered with a thick layer of mats, Jiang Ling would have preferred to walk.

Only Yue Qianli could read without changing his expression.

Oh, this suffering body.

………………

This first post station is really nice, with tall and magnificent buildings, like a palace.

It is worthy of being built and managed by the government.

Tall horses and gorgeous carriages were coming in and out of the post station.

This place receives officials who come to Beijing to report on their work, as well as wealthy people who come to the capital to visit or do business.

Of course, there is also a special place in the post station to accommodate exiles.

Entering from the side door of the post station, there is an ordinary courtyard with about ten rooms, all with dormitories.

These bunk beds are of different sizes. The large ones can accommodate more than ten or twenty people, while the small ones can accommodate five to ten people.

However, the environment here is really unsatisfactory. It can only be said that it is barely habitable, but it is not comfortable at all.

It doesn't leak when it rains and the ground is not too dirty, which is the best evaluation.

No matter what, at least it is much better than sleeping in the mountains at night, as there is a place to shelter from the wind and rain.

However, no matter how bad the environment here is, it has little to do with Jiang Ling and the others.

After all, why would someone with money choose to live in a place like this?

Don’t they know how to enjoy better living conditions?

Why let yourself suffer injustice?

Jiang Ling has never been a person who would put himself in a difficult position, and naturally he would not let those who follow him suffer any injustice.

So, the group walked into the magnificently decorated inn with their heads held high.

The postmaster of the post station had already learned about the news of this group of exiled people from Xuanwang Mansion.

One can't help but feel a sense of regret that the war god Xuan Wang, who once had great military achievements, has now been demoted to a commoner and exiled to the northern border.

As to whether he could reach the northern border alive, the ministers in the court knew very well.

However, faced with this situation, the postmaster felt helpless and could only do his best to entertain them and send them off for the last time.

The postmaster led Yue Qianli and others to a place with a private entrance and courtyard, where the environment was quiet and the living environment was peaceful.

This arrangement perfectly suits their psychological need of not wanting to be disturbed by other officials.

After all, most people are sycophants. If they encounter some officials who take advantage of others' misfortunes, they may even make some sarcastic remarks to mock them.

Therefore, it is good for them to find a relatively independent and quiet place.

After settling everyone, the postmaster left.

Jiang Ling took out five silver notes with a face value of one hundred taels from his pocket and handed them to Butler Chen.

"Butler Chen, take this money and take care of everything. Make sure everyone has a comfortable stay and a good meal.

Don't be afraid to spend money, we have plenty of it now." Jiang Ling said, patting his chest.

Butler Chen took the banknote and sighed in his heart: Yes, this journey was so easy and comfortable, entirely because of the connivance of the escorting officers and soldiers!

They walked around and stopped as they pleased, not taking their exile seriously at all.

Thinking of this, Butler Chen was very impressed by Jiang Ling's methods. He was rich and generous.

"I understand. I will arrange it right away. Please have a good rest, sir." Butler Chen replied respectfully.

After saying that, he left the room where Jiang Ling was and went to arrange lunch and accommodation for other people.

They decided to stay here for the afternoon and spend the night before continuing their journey tomorrow morning.

In this way, everyone can get enough rest and relaxation, and can better cope with the upcoming journey.

The journey is too long and many unknown things may happen, so they have to make all kinds of preparations.

After Butler Chen left, Jiang Ling held the little cub and spun around a few times. The little cub laughed out loud with joy, and the laughter seemed to be able to cure all troubles.

Jiang Ling put the child down with a smile, then walked to the bed and reached out to take out brand new sheets and bedding from the space.

These are all the good stuff he plundered. If those ministers can use them, why can't he?

Jiang Ling began to replace the old sheets and quilt covers one by one, his movements gentle and skillful.

He carefully arranged every corner to ensure that the new bedding would fit the bed perfectly.

Jiang Ling did not avoid Yue Qianli during this series of actions. He wanted to let Yue Qianli get used to his sudden action of taking out things.
