Chapter 189 Cousin Visits

Chapter 189 Cousin Visits

Under Fang's scolding, persuasion and coaxing, Ye Mingzhu agreed not to go back to town today, but refused to come over for dinner in the evening, saying that she had other things to do.

Fang personally saw the two of them out and gave them a few salted fish. Even though Ye Mingzhu said she would not return to town today, she still forced the fish on them.

Ye Mingzhu had no choice but to leave with a cloth bag.

Fang watched them at the door until they turned the corner and disappeared from her sight, then she went home.

Jiang Hongyu felt that the sight behind him had disappeared, and then he said: "Your Third Aunt is a person of character."

This was because he was afraid that they would be unhappy and stop helping their family in the future, so he scolded them out of their dissatisfaction first, and then brought them some things to show the close relationship between the two families.

Ye Mingzhu nodded. "When my mother was around, Third Aunt didn't interact with us much. Only Third Uncle had a good relationship with Dad. My mother said Third Aunt just couldn't get over the hurdle in her heart, but she's actually not a bad person."

"After my parents passed away, Third Uncle would occasionally give us something to support us. Yun An and I were very grateful to him. Later, I found out that Third Aunt also knew all these things."

"That's right. At that time, Uncle San's family was not doing well either. They had less things. How could Aunt San not know?"

However, Ye Mingzhu never expected that Uncle Ye would become what he is now after becoming rich.

Jiang Hongyu held Ye Mingzhu's hand and slowly walked on the way home.

Ever since the incident in their family, he has seen all kinds of life. Uncle Ye is just a little arrogant because he is rich, which is nothing.

"Mingzhu, are you back?" At the door of Jiang's house, Ye Wu was looking around with a basket in his hand.

"Fifth brother, why are you here?" Ye Mingzhu came back to her senses, her face full of surprise.

"I was afraid that you would have nothing to eat if you stayed in the village today, so I brought some food from my house for you." Ye Wu opened the cloth on the basket.

Inside was a long piece of pork, a few handfuls of vegetables, and a cloth bag.

"My aunt said she saw Aunt Jiang buying rice before. She guessed your family is used to eating rice, so she asked me to bring some rice over. It's this year's new rice."

Ye Wu was afraid that the two would dislike it, so he opened the rice bag and showed it to them.

"Fifth brother, let's go inside and talk." Seeing that Jiang Hongyu had already opened the door, Ye Mingzhu invited him in.

After the three of them were seated, she asked, "Fifth Brother, have you been waiting for a long time?"

"Not really," Ye Wu touched his head and gave a silly smile. "I came to check before lunch, and the door was still locked. I guess you were having dinner at Third Uncle's house, and you haven't been here long."

"These vegetables are all grown by my auntie, they are all very fresh. My auntie asked me to send you some fresh ones tomorrow. I think these will be enough for you to eat tonight."

"Thank you, Auntie, for me."

Ye Mingzhu didn't expect Ye Wu's aunt to be so thoughtful.

"My aunt said that we are just from the same clan. It is a favor for you to help me up. I have to be grateful." Ye Wu listens to his aunt very much. They have a good relationship.

"Fifth brother, why didn't you go to the beach today?" Ye Mingzhu was a little surprised to see Ye Wu sitting steadily.

"Ye Lang came to me and quietly told me about the stewardship. I asked for leave today." Ye Wu said nonchalantly, "I must do the job my sister recommended to me well. I can't embarrass my sister and my brother-in-law."

When he said the second half of the sentence, he glanced at Jiang Hongyu.

Jiang Hongyu laughed a little: "Fifth brother, just do it well when the time comes."

"Oh, am I late?" Sister Ying's voice came from outside the door.

It turned out that Sister Ying and Ye Lang came together, and Ye Lang was holding a big basket in his hand.

Sister Ying asked Ye Lang to put the big basket on the table: "Sister Mingzhu, I don't know how long you will stay at home, so I brought you some food."

Before Ye Mingzhu could speak, Ye Wu smiled first: "It seems we have the same idea."

Ye Lang then noticed a basket on the table filled with meat and vegetables. He laughed heartily: "You are so clever."

As soon as Sister Ying came in, she saw the basket on the table, but they couldn’t take back the things they brought.

"Mingzhu, here are the buns I made for lunch. I wanted to send you a few, but I heard you were having dinner at Third Uncle's, so I didn't. Now that the weather is cold, you can keep them for dinner. The rest are some vegetables grown in the fields."

Sister Ying pushed the basket towards Ye Mingzhu, but did not take out the contents.

Ye Mingzhu guessed that there must be more things inside than Sister-in-law Ying said. She waved her hand and wanted Sister-in-law Ying to take it back: "Sister-in-law, we will only stay for a day or two. If you bring so much food, we can't finish it."

Sister-in-law Ying firmly refused: "It's just some food. If you can't finish it, take it to town to eat. You don't have a vegetable garden in town, so you have to buy everything. When you go back, I will bring you some more vegetables, so you can eat for a few days."

Ye Wu also said, "Yes, my aunt has a lot of vegetables in her garden. I'll pick more of whatever you like."

Ye Mingzhu looked at the sincere smiles on their faces and finally accepted the things: "Brother and sister-in-law didn't leave at night and stayed at home for dinner. These are the things you brought, you can't refuse."

Ye Lang and Ye Wu immediately agreed that the purpose of their visit was to get closer to each other.

In the afternoon, the three of them stayed at the Jiang family to help them clean up, and did not even attend the village meeting.

When it was time for dinner, Jiang Hongyu naturally went to the kitchen. Ye Lang and Ye Wu felt embarrassed to just sit there, so they also went to the kitchen.

The three grown men actually knew a little bit about cooking, so they simply kicked Ye Mingzhu and Sister Ying out of the kitchen.

Sister Ying took off her apron and gave it to Ye Lang, then pulled Ye Mingzhu and smiled quietly, "I'm taking advantage of Mingzhu's kindness today. Your cousin rarely cooks when he's at home."

Ye Mingzhu smiled and said, "That's because my sister-in-law is a good cook. My cousin is not often at home, so when he comes back, he wants to eat the food cooked by my sister-in-law."

Sister-in-law Ying nodded: "You are right. He is not at home most of the time. When he comes back, he always looks tired. I can't bear to let him work."

Ye Mingzhu and Sister Ying sat in the yard chatting and laughing, smelling the aroma coming from the kitchen and commenting from time to time.

When the sunset filled the sky, the three grown men cooked a table of dishes. Sister Ying first looked at Ye Lang. Seeing that he looked natural, with a smile on his face and relatively clean, she smiled and said, "Which dish did you make? Let me try your cooking."

Ye Lang pointed to a plate of broken scrambled eggs on the table and said, "I made this."

Sister-in-law Ying looked at the half-formed egg and barely suppressed the smile that was rising in her throat: "Not bad, not mushy."

Ye Lang glanced at her in a reproachful manner and whispered, "You bitch, you're so picky even when I do it for you."

Then he whispered in her ear, "Hongyu is a very good cook. I just learned a few tricks from him. I'll make them for you when I get home."

Sister-in-law Ying nodded with a flushed face.

"Oh, did you add sugar to today's dishes? Why do they smell so sweet?" Ye Mingzhu smiled at Sister Ying.

Sister Ying smiled and clapped her hands: "You'll know if you try it."

Jiang Hongyu also asked everyone to sit down.

Just as they were about to pick up their chopsticks, footsteps were heard outside the door.
