Chapter 235 Hearing Birds Singing
Ye Yun'an didn't leave. He waited until Ye Mingzhu disappeared, then turned to Old Hu and said, "Uncle Hu, go prepare a new set of bedding and put it in the room where Brother Yu stayed last time."
Fu Chengyun glared: "There are also new toiletries."
Old Hu looked at Ye Yun'an, and Ye Yun'an nodded: "Go and prepare."
"Master Fu, our family is poor. I hope you don't mind if the bedding and other things are simple." Ye Yun'an said sincerely: "We don't have many servants. If there is anything, you have to do it yourself."
Ye Wu said beside him: "It's okay, I'm here. Just tell me what Master Fu wants and I'll do it."
Ye Yun'an turned his head to look at Ye Wu and said seriously, "Fifth brother, doesn't Master Fu have his own hands? If you do everything for Master Fu, what will Master Fu do?"
"My brother-in-law is a man of both civil and military talents. He can do everything by himself. Sir Fu is even better than my brother-in-law. He must be capable, right? Sir Fu."
Fu Chengyun had been distracted for a moment, and when his name was suddenly called, he subconsciously answered, "Yes."
"Look," Ye Yun'an said to Ye Wu, "Master Fu said he is capable. Come with me to the back to get the bedding."
Ye Wu felt that something was wrong, but Fu Chengyun did not object, so he followed Ye Yun'an to the backyard.
"Uncle Yan, was that kid mocking me just now?" Fu Chengyun waited until Ye Yun'an left before he realized that he was being mocked.
Uncle Yan laughed in his heart, but he didn't show it on his face: "Yun An is just a child, how could he mock you? You think too much, I will take you to the room."
Old Hu went downstairs to prepare the bedding, and Fu Chengyun followed Uncle Yan to the room next to him.
"Uncle Yan, do you think that person will come today?"
After entering the room, Fu Chengyun just glanced at him indifferently without making any comments. Instead, he asked about another matter.
"You followed me here today just to know this?" Uncle Yan had long guessed that Fu Chengyun had another purpose in following him, but he didn't expect it was because of this.
"Of course, that person's face and eyes showed anxiety. He must be in desperate need of that thing. But, what exactly is it?"
Fu Chengyun glanced at the room with disdain and said, "Looking at the situation at Jiang Hongyu's house, it doesn't look like there are any treasures."
Although he had only been with Jiang Hongyu for a few days, he could still tell that the man didn't look like someone who would steal and hide other people's treasures.
"Mingzhu said they didn't take any treasures. They only lived in the house for a short time after buying it."
"And when Hongyu and his family moved in, there was nothing in the house except the walls and the floor. Everything else was bought by Hongyu and his family."
"When we bought the house, I went with Mingzhu. The neighbors next to the house didn't want to sell it."
“When we looked at the house, we also found that the soil in the small garden was very loose.”
Uncle Yan had made it so obvious. Fu Chengyun's eyes lit up: "Are you saying someone took the treasure?"
Uncle Yan shook his head and made his words clearer: "That house has been empty for quite a while. Many people must have been there. Even if there are treasures, they may not have been taken by the people who lived there."
Fu Chengyun lowered his head in thought when Old Hu and Yunniang came in carrying bedding.
Yunniang made the bedding and put a new set of teapot and teacups on the table.
"Master Fu, go to sleep first. If there is anything, we can talk about it tomorrow."
Uncle Yan waited for Lao Hu and Yunniang to put everything away before preparing to leave.
"Uncle Yan, my father did mention you. From now on, just call me by my name. You don't have to call me 'sir' all the time. When you became an 'adult', I didn't even know where I was."
Fu Chengyun felt a little embarrassed after realizing it belatedly, and Uncle Yan readily called out, "Chengyun."
Uncle Yan pointed to the side and said, "I live next door. If you have any questions, just call me."
After Uncle Yan left, Fu Chengyun sat at the table and drank a pot of water without realizing it.
Soon, he felt the urge to urinate and wanted to call for help, but got no response. He then realized that Ye Wu had not returned yet. He searched the room but couldn't find the chamber pot.
He bent over and walked out of the room. It was pitch black outside. He was not familiar with the place, so he could only knock on the door next to him.
Uncle Yan came out in his coat and opened the door for him: "It's Chengyun, what's wrong? Are you thirsty?"
Fu Chengyun put his legs together and said awkwardly, "Uncle Yan, I, I need to go to the bathroom."
Uncle Yan looked at him and guessed that he was going to the toilet. He pointed behind him and said, "The toilet is over there. Just go there by yourself."
Fu Chengyun wanted to say that he couldn't see the road clearly, but Uncle Yan went back to the house and brought out a small oil lamp: "You hold it, be careful, don't spill it."
Fu Chengyun looked at the tiny light, a bit frightened. Uncle Yan asked again, "Are you okay going by yourself? Do you need me to accompany you?"
Let Uncle Yan accompany me to the toilet?
Even if Fu Chengyun wanted to, it would not be a good idea to do so.
"No need, Uncle Yan, I can go by myself." Fu Chengyun shook his head slightly and walked slowly in the direction Uncle Yan had just said.
This was Fu Chengyun's first time using this kind of oil lamp. He was afraid that the oil inside would spill out, and he didn't dare to walk fast. When he arrived at the toilet, his head was covered in cold sweat.
Fortunately, there was a special place for oil lamps in the toilet. He put the oil lamp there and prepared to take off his pants.
"Coo, coo, coo..." A burst of bird calls sounded, especially clear in the dark night.
Fu Chengyun was so scared that he almost got the belt in his hand tangled.
"Chirp, chirp..." Another different burst of bird calls made Fu Chengyun a little annoyed.
How could there be birds singing in such a small town in the middle of the night? He was so scared that he almost couldn't pee.
Fortunately, after a few calls, the surroundings became quiet. He solved the problem quickly and walked into the house.
Uncle Yan's door was closed. He didn't knock. He took the small oil lamp back to his room and lay down on the bed.
Just as he was about to close his eyes, he suddenly stood up. Something was wrong. Why were there different bird calls in the middle of the night? They seemed to be having a conversation.
He quickly stood up and touched the oil lamp that had just been extinguished. He accidentally touched the lamp oil and was burned by the warm oil, causing him to scream hoarsely.
Uncle Yan, who was not asleep, heard the noise and knocked on the door: "Master Fu, what's wrong with you?"
Fu Chengyun's hand ached, but he didn't care. He ran over and opened the door: "Uncle Yan, I just heard a bird singing."
Uncle Yan's eyebrows immediately frowned: "Where did you hear that?"
"Over there in the toilet," Fu Chengyun had to be embarrassed: "I just went to the toilet and heard birds singing, and they were different bird calls."
"I'll go and take a look." Uncle Yan immediately ran towards the toilet. Fu Chengyun was afraid that others would hear him, so he didn't dare to shout and just followed him quickly.
