Chapter 276 Staying at the Inn
Jian Pingping looked a little embarrassed. Their uncle was the prefect and he probably wouldn't come to pick them up in person. He would probably send a servant from his family to pick them up.
Jian Anan sensed something from Jian Pingping's silence, and stopped talking. She just looked at Ye Yun'an and Wang Dahu acting coquettishly with envy.
Wang Dahu was listening to Ye Yun'an patiently. He noticed his gaze and glanced over. Jian An'an was so scared that she hid behind Ye Mingzhu for a moment: "Sister Mingzhu."
Wang Dahu thought they were just strangers who happened to stand together, but he didn't expect that they also knew his niece.
He looked at Ye Mingzhu: "Mingzhu, this is, your friend?"
He remembered that Mingzhu's letter said that Uncle Yan would send her and her brother over, but it did not say that there would be two brothers and sisters of the same age.
"Uncle, this is Miss Jian and her brother. We came here together by boat, and she is also here to look for her uncle." Ye Mingzhu briefly introduced the two families to Wang Dahu.
Wang Dahu had been a manager for many years and had a good eye. He could see that although the clothes worn by the Jian family's siblings were low-key, they were not cheap, at least much more expensive than those worn by his own nephews and nieces.
It seems that he wants to take his nephew and niece to buy some clothes so that others won't look down on them.
"Hello, Miss Jian." Wang Dahu just greeted the other party while thinking, and then looked at Ye Mingzhu with concern on his face.
"Mingzhu, you've been sitting in the car for such a long time, aren't you tired? Do you want to go home and rest first, or go to the restaurant for dinner first?"
Ye Mingzhu looked at Jian Pingping: "Pingping, has your uncle arrived? Otherwise, why don't you go with us to settle down first and then go find your uncle later?"
Jian Pingping looked at Ye Yun'an who was chatting and laughing with Ye Yun'an, then looked at Jian An'an who was pouting beside her, and felt bitter and astringent in her heart.
There is no harm without comparison. Ye Mingzhu's uncle not only came to pick her up in person, but also arranged everything that happened afterwards.
But I still don’t know where my uncle is now?
For a moment, her already cold heart became even colder. She had originally thought of going to find her uncle, but at this moment, she changed her mind and decided to find an inn to settle down first. She didn't want to live in her uncle's house anymore.
She forced a smile and said, "Mingzhu, I want to go to the inn to rest first, and then go to my uncle's house later."
Ye Mingzhu sensed her embarrassment from her constantly changing expression, and she looked at Wang Dahu with the mentality of helping her to the end.
"Uncle, do you know which inn in the city is good? Can we send Miss Jian there first?"
Wang Dahu was here specifically to accompany his nephew and niece today, so he nodded immediately: "Then let's go to Tongfu Inn. The restaurant I booked is not far away."
Wang Dahu asked someone to load the luggage that Ye Mingzhu brought onto a carriage and send it home first. He also called two other carriages, one to carry the luggage of Jian Pingping and her brother, and the other to take them to the inn.
Fortunately, there were many horse-drawn carriages soliciting passengers at the dock, and they all got on the carriages quickly.
"Uncle, I'm sorry to have caused you trouble today." Ye Mingzhu said in a low voice after getting on the carriage.
"Isn't it just a trip to the inn? It's no big deal." Wang Dahu waved his hand, "Let's go to the restaurant for dinner first."
"Uncle, Miss Jian's uncle is the prefect. I'm afraid the prefect is very busy. We have a good relationship, so I want to wait until she is settled before going to dinner." Ye Mingzhu revealed Jian Pingping's identity.
Wang Dahu's eyes flashed: "Since Mingzhu and Miss Jian have a good relationship, then uncle will help you keep an eye on her later."
Although he was surprised that the prefect did not send anyone to pick him up, there were too many dirty things happening in the mansion, so for now he just treated Jian Pingping as Ye Mingzhu's friend.
Ye Mingzhu briefly recounted how they met, and Wang Dahu's face immediately darkened.
"Mingzhu, he's just a stranger. You jumped into the sea to save him. That's too impulsive."
"If anything happens to you, who will Yun An rely on in the future?"
Even though he knew that Jian Anan was the prefect's nephew, in Wang Dahu's eyes, her life was not as important as his own niece's.
Although she was criticized, Ye Mingzhu felt warm in her heart because she knew that Wang Dahu was doing it for her own good.
She recounted her childhood experiences of swimming and diving in the sea, but Wang Dahu still shook his head. "Mingzhu, you can't assume that nothing will go wrong just because you go to the sea so often. I used to go to sea with merchant ships, and those boatmen had been out at sea longer than you. When they encountered strong winds and waves, many of them never made it back."
He stared at Ye Mingzhu with a serious face: "Mingzhu, you and Yun An are the only two relatives I have left. I don't want anything to happen to either of you. No one else's life is more important than yours."
Ye Mingzhu nodded: "Uncle, I understand. I must think more before going into the water next time."
Wang Dahu's expression softened a bit. "Mingzhu, don't think I'm too controlling. Your parents are gone, and as your uncle, I have to think more about you."
Ye Mingzhu smiled and said, "Uncle, I know you are doing this for my own good. I will pay attention next time."
Wang Dahu finally felt relieved, but he was afraid that he had been too strict and made his niece unhappy, so he just said that he would take them shopping after dinner.
Ye Yun'an then dared to lie in Wang Dahu's arms and act like a spoiled child: "Uncle, I just want to eat delicious food."
Wang Dahu patted his hands and said, "No problem. When we get to the restaurant, just order whatever you want. I'll make sure you're full. After dinner, I'll take you clothes shopping."
Ye Yun'an said he didn't want clothes, he wanted a dagger.
Ye Mingzhu frowned, and Wang Dahu glared at her: "How old are you, and you want a dagger?"
Seeing this, Ye Mingzhu swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue. Wang Dahu whispered, "When your kung fu is better next year, if your sister agrees, I will buy you a dagger."
Without waiting for Ye Mingzhu to speak, Ye Yun'an stretched out his hand and made a pinky promise with Wang Dahu: "Uncle, keep your word. Give me a dagger on my birthday next year."
"Sister, my kung fu is very good now. With the dagger, I can better protect you."
Ye Yun'an looked at Ye Mingzhu with a smile: "Uncle Yan said that I have learned martial arts very well, and I will definitely not let the dagger hurt myself."
Ye Mingzhu glared at him: "You've already said everything, what else can I say."
Ye Yunan looked at his sister flatteringly: "Sister is the best."
Ye Mingzhu simply looked out the window and stopped looking at him.
Wang Dahu patted Ye Yun'an on the head and told him to be quiet.
Ye Yun'an stuck out his tongue, snuggled obediently in Wang Dahu's arms, and stopped making any noise.
After a short journey, the carriage arrived at Tongfu Inn.
Wang Dahu got off the carriage and went to talk to the innkeeper. When Jian Pingping and the others moved their things down, the waiter followed Wang Dahu out and politely helped them move their luggage inside.
Jian Pingping knew that it was Wang Dahu who spoke for him, so she came over to express her gratitude.
Wang Dahu stepped aside and said politely, "It's just a small favor, but the inn is not a place to stay for a long time, so you should be more careful."
