Chapter 304 Buying Green Beans
"Stop, don't move." The voices of several strong men came from the front.
The boy in Ye Mingzhu's arms immediately turned around and hid behind Ye Mingzhu, whispering, "Sister, save me."
Ye Mingzhu frowned and tried to take back her clothes calmly, but the boy held them tightly and she couldn't pull them back.
Several strong men had already stood in front of them. The man in front, who was as tall as an iron tower, frowned at them and said, "Hand over the boy behind you."
Ye Mingzhu didn't want to cause trouble and moved to the side. The boy behind her immediately followed her.
"Sister, they are human traffickers." The thin and dark boy lowered his head and only the top of his head could be seen, but his voice was crisp and his words were clear.
Ye Mingzhu looked at the people in front of her suspiciously: "Who are you to him?"
The man raised his eyebrows and looked at her: "A woman's place is at home, taking care of her husband and children, and not meddling in other people's business."
Ye Mingzhu's face darkened. "I didn't mean to meddle in other people's business. You saw it too. He kept pulling my sleeve and I couldn't leave even if I wanted to."
Everyone looked at Ye Mingzhu's raised sleeve and saw a black hand tightly grasping the sleeve, and the black color could be vaguely seen.
"My clothes were soiled by him. Since he is yours, you have to compensate me for my clothes and take him away."
"Bullshit, we haven't even bothered with you yet, and you're asking us for money first. Get out of the way quickly, or I'll hurt you later, don't regret it." The man frowned, looking very awkward.
"Sir, this man is a thug from the pawnshop. You'd better let them take him away quickly." The waiter whispered in Ye Mingzhu's ear.
If Uncle Yan hadn't been waiting for him in their restaurant, he would have wanted to just leave.
"Sister, they are really human traffickers." The boy who grabbed Ye Mingzhu's clothes had a trembling voice and looked very scared.
"What are you talking about? We are a legitimate trafficking business. You were sold to us by your father. Why do you say we are human traffickers?" A fat man behind the iron tower man was very upset when he heard this.
"We're so unlucky to have bought you. Ever since you came to our shop, you've been deliberately peeing in the well, covering your clothes with dirt, and trying to run away whenever you get the chance."
The fat man ignored the man from the iron tower and stood in front, pointing his finger in Ye Mingzhu's direction and began to complain: "Tell me yourself, are there human traffickers like us? If we were human traffickers, we would have beaten you to death long ago."
"But you bought me from human traffickers, you are not good people." The boy behind Ye Mingzhu said indignantly.
The fat man opposite was about to speak, but was stopped by the man in the iron tower: "We are a pawnshop, not a charity. We can't do business at a loss. We don't know whether what you said is true or not. I only know that you are now a member of our pawnshop."
"Sister, sister, can you buy me? I can work, I can wash clothes, I can sweep the floor..." Ye Mingzhu's arms were shaken by the boy behind her as if they were about to fall apart.
Ye Mingzhu noticed that the fat man opposite her couldn't hold back his smile. It seemed that what this guy said was probably a lie.
"Since the girl wants to buy this boy, give us eight taels of silver and he will be yours." The man with the iron tower was really fed up with this boy. Now that someone was willing to take over, he didn't care about the other party's unreasonableness just now.
"Only eight taels of silver?" The boy behind Ye Mingzhu poked his head out in dissatisfaction: "I, I'm only worth eight taels of silver?"
"It's okay if you want to give me more." The man from the iron tower looked at him with a smile.
He immediately retreated behind Ye Mingzhu and said, "Eight taels is eight taels."
The man in the iron tower looked at Ye Mingzhu and said, "Give me the money."
Ye Mingzhu was a little confused. Was she being set up? What boy of her age was worth that much money?
"I don't have any money on me, and my family can't afford such an expensive thing." Ye Mingzhu just waved her hand and was about to leave, but the boy behind her kept pulling her clothes, making it impossible for her to leave.
"Don't tarnish our reputation. It's not that we're expensive, it's that this guy ruined our business and damaged a lot of clothes. All in all, it costs four or five taels of silver. We're asking for eight taels now, isn't that a bargain for you?"
The fat man had an expression that said you are taking advantage of me, and the boy was the most polite and nodded.
A quarter of an hour later, Ye Mingzhu walked back to the restaurant with a dark face.
Uncle Yan looked at the boy who was holding onto Ye Mingzhu's clothes tightly, his face full of confusion: "Mingzhu, who is this?"
"This is the book boy my sister bought for me." Ye Yun'an said quickly.
"Bookboy?" Uncle Yan repeated, "How old is he?"
"I'm six years old. Don't look down on my young age. I've read a lot of books. My eldest brother said that in two years I'll be able to take the imperial examination."
The boy with messy face painting puffed out his chest and said proudly.
The little kid is only six years old, who knows how old his older brother is? I'm afraid that the words used to coax him were taken seriously by him.
Ye Mingzhu let out a long breath, with a wry smile on her face: "Uncle Yan, this is indeed the person I bought. He will follow Yun An from now on."
If she had a choice, she would definitely not buy this boy, but just now, the Iron Tower man insisted on selling it to her, and this boy kept saying nice things. Ye Yun'an finally couldn't stand it anymore and also helped to plead.
Even the waiter looked as if he would be heartless if he didn't buy this kid, so she held her breath and bought him.
But after buying him, he still held on to her clothes, as if he was afraid of being abandoned, which made Ye Mingzhu speechless.
"Sister, why don't you give him a bath? His face is too dark." Ye Yun'an's voice interrupted Ye Mingzhu's thoughts.
Ye Mingzhu asked him, "What's your name?"
The boy hesitated and said, "Mung beans?"
"What? Your name is Green Bean?" Ye Yun'an couldn't help laughing when he heard the name: "Who named you Green Bean?"
Green Bean pouted and tilted his head to the side, looking very unhappy.
Ye Mingzhu frowned. She felt that this was not a real name. She looked at Uncle Yan.
"Uncle Yan, how about we go to the inn next door and ask for a room, let Ludou take a bath and change clothes before we leave?"
Uncle Yan looked at the skinny Green Bean, but did not refuse.
The waiter had cleverly recommended them an inn nearby.
Uncle Yan took Luodou to take a bath. Ye Mingzhu gave the waiter a hundred coins and asked him to buy two sets of clothes and shoes for Luodou. The rest was considered a reward.
The waiter happily bought the clothes and had them delivered to the room.
Ye Mingzhu took Ye Yun'an for a stroll in front of the inn and bought him some small things.
When they returned, Uncle Yan had already checked out of the room and was sitting in the carriage.
