Chapter 367: A Thank You Gift
Xu Mengqing followed Mei'er into the carriage reluctantly. The maid beside her even muttered, "That hairpin was bought in Beijing. It's the young lady's favorite hairpin."
"Stop talking." Xu Mengqing glared at the maid.
"Sister Qing, I'm sorry. It's all the fault of my cousin from the countryside. I'll ask my cousin to buy you the most beautiful hairpin later." Mei'er leaned on Xu Mengqing, her face full of guilt.
Xu Mengqing said softly that it was just a fancy hairpin and the maid was making a fuss about it, so she shouldn't take it to heart.
Mei'er made up her mind to buy Xu Mengqing a gorgeous and beautiful hairpin.
Jian Pingping had already forgotten about them. She was busy collecting money, settling bills, and occasionally acting as a waiter, getting things for customers.
Ye Mingzhu and Jiang Yue had been standing in the shop for a while. Jian Pingping just exchanged glances with them and went back to work.
Fortunately, Jiang Yue had been there several times and was quite familiar with the shop. She took Ye Mingzhu around the shop and asked the clerk to bring out a lot of facial cream, lip balm and new rouge and powder.
Jian Pingping saw this with sharp eyes. After sending away the customers around him, he came over to settle the bill for the two of them.
She pushed Jiang Yue's money back and said, "These things are my gifts to Mingzhu today."
Jiang Yue didn't argue with her: "Okay, it's yours today. I'll give it to you when the new products come out."
Jian Pingping said a few words to them quickly and then went back to work.
Ye Mingzhu and Jiang Yue waited for half an hour, but Jian Pingping was still busy, so they had to leave.
I didn't expect to meet Dr. Murong at the door. He was actually sitting at the door with a calm look on his face. If it weren't for the wrong place, his attitude would have been exactly like a cat basking in the sun.
Jiang Yue took a quick look and then looked away, pulling Ye Mingzhu again.
"Doctor Murong is from the capital. I heard he used to work in the Imperial Hospital. I don't know how he ended up in the provincial capital."
After getting on the carriage, Jiang Yue whispered that her father, as the chief steward of the Zheng family, knew a lot of things and would occasionally tell her some secrets of the aristocratic families and some people who should not be offended.
Lord Murong is someone you cannot mess with.
"How come I'm so lucky today to have met Doctor Murong? If I had met another doctor, I'd have been blackmailed."
Jiang Yue asked Chun Xing, "I just saw you go out. Did you invite Doctor Murong?"
Chun Xing first glanced at Ye Mingzhu, and when she saw that she had no objection, she replied, "It was the young lady who asked me to go get a doctor. I went to Huichun Hall, but the doctors there were all busy. Only Doctor Murong was sitting nearby drinking tea."
"Dr. Murong didn't want to go out at first, but he asked me to explain the patient's condition. Then, for some reason, he agreed to come."
Ye Mingzhu and Jiang Yue looked at each other, neither of them could guess what Doctor Murong was thinking.
Ye Mingzhu was worried that someone would cause trouble next, but Jiang Yue smiled and said, "Probably not."
Although she was not a noble lady, she was the only daughter of Manager Jiang and was raised spoiled by her parents. Now she just opened a small shop, but someone came to make trouble. If she didn't fight back, others would laugh at Manager Jiang for not being able to take care of his daughter.
"I guess someone is dissatisfied with us making money and sent that person to cause trouble," Jiang Yue said his guess. "I didn't expect Pingping to solve it so quickly."
"We can't let something like this happen. We have to find the person who did it and teach him a lesson so he won't dare to do anything again."
Jiang Yue had learned housekeeping from Jiang Li, and she was afraid that Ye Mingzhu didn't understand, so she explained it in detail.
Ye Mingzhu listened to her quietly, knowing that her aunt was not the kind of spoiled girl raised in seclusion, and felt that her uncle was really blessed.
She didn't know how families in ancient times raised their daughters, so she listened very carefully.
Jiang Yue's biological mother, Jiang Li, used to be a maid, and later she became a nanny beside the mistress. Her knowledge and skills were beyond the reach of ordinary people, and she taught most of them to Jiang Yue.
Jiang Yue was unwilling to be a concubine, more because she was influenced by Jiang Li. Jiang Li was used to the life of concubines in the deep courtyard. She knew that no matter how favored a concubine was, she could only eat, drink and dress better, but she could not make decisions on many things. It would be better for her to be a regular wife outside.
One of them was willing to teach, and the other was willing to listen, and they hardly noticed the passage of time.
When the carriage stopped, Jiang Yue realized she was thirsty. Ye Mingzhu poured her a cup of tea from the carriage and said, "Thank you for your guidance, little aunt."
Jiang Yue's face suddenly turned red. She looked at Ye Mingzhu with a reproachful look and was too embarrassed to take the teacup from her hand.
"Auntie is thirsty, drink some tea." Ye Mingzhu put the teacup into Jiang Yue's hand, "I will call quietly so that no one else will know. I will call louder after you and uncle get married."
After she finished speaking, she got off the carriage without waiting for Jiang Yue to speak.
Chun Xing then got off the carriage.
Jiang Yue held the teacup, smiled and shook her head for a while, then picked up the tea and took a sip.
Wang Dahu's niece is indeed interesting.
After finishing a cup of tea, she put it down and said, "Let's go back to the shop."
Just now, in front of Ye Mingzhu, there were some things she was not comfortable saying. Now, Jian Pingping was probably almost done with his work, so it was a good opportunity for her to deal with things.
In the shop, Jian Pingping sent away the shoppers and inquiries. Her throat felt like it was smoking. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and said to the clerk next to her, "Quick, pour me a glass of water."
The guy quickly poured her some water and handed it to her. She drank it in one gulp, let out a long sigh, and handed the cup back to him: "Pour me another one."
After drinking three glasses of water in a row, her throat felt better. Although she was extremely tired, she still paid attention to her posture and did not slump on the stool. She only bent her back slightly.
A pair of shoes appeared before her eyes. She immediately straightened her back and looked at the person who came with a smile, but there was surprise in her eyes: "Doctor Murong?"
Why haven't you left yet?
She didn't say this, but her eyes revealed it clearly.
Doctor Murong gritted his teeth before he helped the girl solve the problem, but the girl actually had such an attitude.
"Is this your attitude towards your savior?" He was angry and naturally wanted to vent.
"Doctor Murong, please feel free to look at it. Anything you like will be considered my thank you gift today." Jian Pingping was flexible and looked at Doctor Murong with a smile on her face.
"Then give me a few more boxes of the facial cream you gave me just now." Doctor Murong knocked on the counter without any courtesy.
"Huh?" Although Jian Pingping was a little surprised, she still took out three more boxes: "Doctor Murong, the facial cream in here can be used to wipe your hands or your face, but it can't be kept for too long."
Doctor Murong raised an eyebrow: "Why, are you reluctant to let go?"
