Chapter 37 Furniture Preparation

Chapter 37 Furniture Preparation

Jiang Hongyu didn't look at the two of them again and went straight to the Ye family.

The door of Ye Mingzhu's house was closed. He thought about it and went straight to the third room of the Ye family.

"Is Uncle Ye home?" He called out at the door, and Ye Yun'an immediately ran out with a look of obvious joy on his face: "Brother Jiang, you're here."

Uncle Ye came out and said, "Hongyu is here. It's just right. I made some buns at home. Come and try some."

Jiang Hongyu handed over the two bags of snacks he was holding: "I went to town today and saw some new snacks, so I brought them for you to try."

Ye Yun'an and Ye Yunli, who came out later, winked at each other. Fang glared at them both, took the snacks, and shouted into the room, "Mingzhu, serve Hongyu a bowl of soup."

Jiang Hongyu was a little hesitant. Everyone was having a hard time. If he ate the buns, the Ye family would probably have to eat less.

Ye Yun'an had already pulled him into the house: "Brother Jiang, we made a lot of buns today, come and try some."

Jiang Hongyu was afraid of hurting him, so he could only follow his force and walk into the house.

Ye Mingzhu had already placed half a bowl of soup in front of him: "Drink some soup first."

He was a little surprised when he saw the frangipani floating inside. This must be half an egg, right?

Ye Yun'an handed him a bun: "Brother Jiang, this one has meat, I made it, and there's also one with meat scraps, try it and see which one tastes better."

Jiang Hongyu took the slightly yellowed bun, took a bite, and the surprise in his eyes became more obvious. The bun was made of pure white flour and meat, with only a small amount of chopped green onions inside.

When did the Ye family become so well off?

He finished a bun unconsciously, and Ye Yun'an handed him another one: "Brother Jiang, try the one with oil residue."

Jiang Hongyu refused to eat anything. Even in his family, he rarely ate meat buns like this. "I'm full. I'll leave this for you."

Ye Mingzhu directly brought a bowl of buns and placed them on the table: "There are still so many, enough to eat."

Ye Yun'an took the opportunity to stuff the bun into Jiang Hongyu's mouth.

Jiang Hongyu opened his mouth and the bun fit right in. He had no choice but to take a bite, not knowing how to ask the questions in his mind.

"My third uncle and I went to the sea and caught a lot of pearls. This time we sold them for a good price, so we bought some more meat to improve the food for our family," Ye Mingzhu explained.

"Yes, we made a lot of buns, and they can't be kept in this weather. It would be a pity if they went bad." Fang nodded and asked Ye Yun'an to serve Jiang Hongyu another bowl of soup.

Jiang Hongyu was eating buns, but he had some doubts about Ye Mingzhu's words. He had lived in Yuanshan Village for many years and naturally knew the price of pearls. Even if the food was improved, no family would be willing to make so many meat buns.

Unless, they picked up something more valuable than pearls.

I have to say, Jiang Hongyu is really smart and guessed it right the first time.

Jiang Hongyu ate three buns in a row and stopped eating. Although there were still many buns in the bowl, they might not be enough by the evening.

The Ye family did not try to persuade her anymore. Fang took the buns downstairs, found a piece of cloth to wrap five buns, and asked Ye Mingzhu to deliver them to Jiang Hongyu.

After Jiang Hongyu had eaten and drunk his fill, he spoke a few words to Uncle Ye and prepared to leave.

Fang quickly pushed Ye Mingzhu and asked her to go and see him off.

Ye Mingzhu stood beside Jiang Hongyu confidently, and the two walked towards the door together.

"My uncle and I sold a lot of pearls, so I bought some extra meat. Take these buns back and share them with Aunt Jiang tonight."

Jiang Hongyu also understood what she meant. Although the buns were made in the third room, the meat was provided by her.

"Well, the snacks I just brought over are all new. I'll buy more after I finish eating them."

Ye Mingzhu nodded.

"My mother said that your health is not good, so it's better for you to go to the sea less often. I can support you and Yun'an."

Jiang Hongyu hesitated for a moment, but still said it.

Ye Mingzhu looked at the young boy, her face slowly turning red. She did not refuse his kindness: "I collected a lot of pearls this time, so I won't go to the sea for the time being."

"Well, I go to town often. If you want to eat anything, just ask Yun An to tell me."

Jiang Hongyu himself is a greedy person, and one of the reasons why he often goes to the town is to buy food.

The two of them exchanged a few more words, and then Jiang Hongyu let Ye Mingzhu go back first.

Although the two are engaged, standing together for a long time will still cause gossip.

Jiang Hongyu returned home holding the still warm buns.

Aunt Jiang had just finished her meal and when she saw him come back, she asked, "You just came back? Have you eaten yet?"

"I ate it at Mingzhu's house. These are the buns she asked me to bring back for you."

Jiang Hongyu handed the buns to Ye Mingzhu to make her presence felt.

Aunt Jiang took the buns and was stunned for a moment: "White flour buns, not for festivals, the Ye family is willing to give them away."

"Mom, try one, it's pure meat." As he said that, Jiang Hongyu picked up one of the buns and put it to Aunt Jiang's mouth.

"We'll eat the rest in the evening. I'll make two more bowls of egg drop soup."

Jiang Hongyu thought of the egg soup he had at Ye's house. It had more eggs than soup, and it was indeed sweet.

Aunt Jiang was straightforward and started eating the meat buns directly. "These buns are well-made, mostly meat. I didn't expect Mingzhu and her family to eat so well just starting to live on their own."

Jiang Hongyu raised the corners of his lips proudly: "Mingzhu went to the sea and caught a lot of pearls. This is the meat she bought and cooked at Uncle Ye's house."

Aunt Jiang was silent. She seemed to be a grateful child, knowing that Uncle Ye was good to them.

Some people just don't know how to live. They gave out five such big pure meat buns. I heard that Jiang Hongyu ate three buns and drank two bowls of egg soup.

The discomfort in her heart disappeared again. As long as she treated her son well, he wouldn't have to suffer if he couldn't make a living. After all, the family was rich and they could afford to eat.

"Send them some food later, otherwise it will be difficult to bring the little girl back from the town alone if she goes to buy food," Aunt Jiang instructed.

"Why don't we wait a little longer? They may not have finished the food we sent last time. It's not safe to keep too much food at home." Jiang Hongyu calculated and felt that Ye Mingzhu's family had enough food to last them until they moved.

"Well, then you should calculate it. When I passed by the new house today, the foundation had already been laid. We need to prepare the things inside the house in the next two days. Otherwise, we have to wait until the house is built before preparing them, which will take a lot of time."

The beds, tables and chairs in the old house were the cheapest ones made when we were first exiled here, and they are no longer sturdy.

After moving, almost all the furniture needs to be made new, which takes a lot of time.

"I've already prepared everything. I'll have someone in town make the bed and cabinets, and I'll have Carpenter Li in the next village make the stools and tables."

It's not because of the cheapness, but because I'm afraid of causing gossip in the village.

"Well, one of the beddings at home was made last year and is still usable. The others are all new. I have already made an agreement with some elderly people in the village. They will come to our house tomorrow to help make your wedding quilts."

Jiang Hongyu didn’t understand these things, so he just let Aunt Jiang take care of the arrangements.
