Chapter 378 I'd Rather Not Marry
In the middle of the night, Jian Pingping had a fever again, and Doctor Murong called Tiandong to boil medicine.
After a chaotic battle, Jian Pingping drank the medicine and her fever began to subside. Only then did Doctor Murong let Tiandong go to sleep.
That night, Doctor Murong stayed by Jian Pingping's bedside, and Bihe didn't dare leave. She couldn't count how many times Doctor Murong took Jian Pingping's pulse.
As the sky brightened, when Doctor Murong took Jian Pingping's pulse again, Jian Pingping opened her eyes.
"Mu, Doctor Murong?" Jian Pingping's voice was hoarse, and if you didn't listen carefully, you couldn't make out what she was saying.
"Are you awake? Do you want some water? I'll pour you some." Doctor Murong poured a glass of warm water over.
Jian Pingping felt sore all over and her throat was burning. She tried hard to sit up but failed.
Doctor Murong held the water in one hand and helped her up to lean against the head of the bed with the other hand. He then turned around and got a spoon, wanting to feed her water.
Jian Pingping's face flushed a little: "No, I can do it."
Doctor Murong did not insist. He put the water in Jian Pingping's hand and held it loosely under her hand until Jian Pingping finished drinking the water.
Maybe it was because he drank some water or his fever had subsided, but Jian Pingping's face had a hint of redness.
Bihe stayed up all night, and when it was almost dawn, she lay on the table and dozed off for a while. The sound of Doctor Murong pouring water just now woke her up.
Now she was fully awake. Seeing Jian Pingping drink the water, she pushed Doctor Murong away and said, "Miss, how are you? Are you feeling better? I was so worried."
She was really worried that something might happen to Jian Pingping. If only Jian Anan was left at home, who knew who would take over the hands of these servants.
Doctor Murong was pushed aside, but he was not angry. He just looked at Jian Pingping.
"Miss, are you thirsty? Do you want to eat something?" Bihe kept talking, trying to express her concern.
"Your young lady just woke up and has already drunk some water. Now she can only drink some porridge. Go to the kitchen and make some porridge for your young lady."
Doctor Murong noticed that Jian Pingping was in a bad mood and gave Bihe direct instructions.
Bihe wanted to stay with the young lady and take care of her, but she didn't dare to disobey Doctor Murong.
"Miss, I'll go tell Aunt Qian and be right back."
Bihe ran out at the fastest speed in her life.
"Thank you, Doctor Murong." Jian Pingping thanked him in a low voice.
"You just woke up. Talk less and rest more." Doctor Murong moved a stool and sat down beside Jian Pingping's bed.
"What happened yesterday? You were walking in the rain?"
Jian Pingping's face turned pale. She remembered what her aunt said yesterday and turned her head away: "I didn't bring an umbrella when I went out yesterday."
Doctor Murong didn't believe it and wanted to retort her, but Jian Pingping looked unhappy and listless, so he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
"Put your hand out, I'll feel your pulse."
Seeing that he stopped asking questions, Jian Pingping breathed a sigh of relief and stretched out her hand.
After taking her pulse, Doctor Murong wanted to touch Jian Pingping's forehead, but she dodged to the side and said, "She's no longer feverish."
Doctor Murong wiped her forehead stubbornly: "If I hadn't taken care of you last night, you would have been feverish and stupid. Why are you still worrying about these things now?"
Jian Pingping felt the warmth on his forehead and knew that he cared about her. Somehow, she felt aggrieved and tears fell.
"I'm a doctor. This is for your illness, not..."
Doctor Murong stopped talking halfway when he noticed that Jian Pingping was crying.
"Okay, I was wrong. I won't touch you anymore. I'll write you a prescription so you can get better soon, okay?"
Jian Pingping didn't say anything. He frantically searched for a handkerchief on his body, but Tiandong had bought these clothes from the drugstore yesterday, so there was no handkerchief there.
He had no choice but to wipe Jian Pingping with his sleeve: "It's my fault. I shouldn't have touched your forehead. Can you stop being angry?"
Jian Pingping was originally speaking from the heart, and after being comforted by Doctor Murong, she felt even more wronged, and she couldn't stop crying.
Doctor Murong's sleeve appeared in front of her. She picked it up and started to wipe it, not realizing that it was not her handkerchief.
When Bihe came back with a basin of water, she saw two people sitting very close to each other, and Jian Pingping was wiping her face with Doctor Murong's sleeve.
She stopped at the door, not sure whether to go in.
Doctor Murong noticed Bihe when she walked to the door, but Jian Pingping was still pulling his sleeve, so he couldn't pull it away immediately.
Seeing that Bihe had already entered the house, he had no choice but to cough and retract his sleeves.
Jian Pingping looked up in confusion. Bihe hurried in and said, "Miss, I've brought some warm water to help you wash your face. Bilian is making porridge and it will be served soon."
Doctor Murong put the hand that Jian Pingping had just wiped her face with behind her back. Only then did Jian Pingping realize that she had been wiping her face with his sleeve, and her face flushed.
Bihe placed the wooden basin beside Jian Pingping's bed, went to get a handkerchief, glanced at Doctor Murong, and saw that he was still standing there.
"Doctor Murong, how about you go to the kitchen and check on my young lady's medicine?"
She shook the handkerchief in her hand and almost said that she wanted to wipe the young lady's face and it was inconvenient for Doctor Murong to be in the room.
Doctor Murong also noticed it and smiled awkwardly: "I'll go check the medicine first and come back later."
After he left, Bihe closed the door and lowered the window, then wet a handkerchief and wiped Jian Pingping.
"Miss, yesterday was all thanks to Dr. Murong. Otherwise, we wouldn't know when we would get home."
"You got a fever on the way, so it was Doctor Murong who sent us home and asked Brother Tiandong to get some medicine and boil it."
"Doctor Murong took care of you here all night. You had a fever at night, and it was Doctor Murong who took your pulse, prescribed medicine, and fed you the medicine. Only then did your fever go away. Doctor Murong is such a good person."
Bi He finally asked, "Miss, how did you get to know Doctor Murong?"
Jian Pingping didn't expect that Doctor Murong would take care of her here all night, even though they were just acquaintances.
"He bought something in my shop."
Bihe saw that Jian Pingping didn't want to talk, so she just helped Jian Pingping clean up and change clothes without saying anything else.
"Bihe, don't tell anyone what you heard yesterday."
Bihe was stunned for a moment, but quickly realized that Jian Pingping was talking about the same things he had said to the prefect's wife.
She nodded immediately, then asked worriedly, "Miss, what about your marriage?"
"I still have to raise An An, so it's not appropriate for me to get married early." Jane said calmly. She would rather not marry than be a concubine.
Anyway, my aunt said that I would take a concubine after my cousin got married, but my cousin from a relative's family would probably not be happy about it if my future sister-in-law was the concubine.
"Actually, Doctor Murong is a very nice guy. He even carried you out of the carriage yesterday. I think it would be a good idea for you, Miss, to marry him." Bihe said in a low voice.
