Chapter 402 No Way Out
Jiang Hongyu was in a bad mood, but after dinner, he said something to Ye Mingzhu and took Yu Jiaming and Xiaowu to the island as planned.
At the Yan family, Aunt Jiang was having breakfast with Uncle Yan.
Breakfast was made by Xiang, and it was very rich, with freshly cooked porridge, small wontons made in the morning, crystal buns, and pickled vegetables from the previous few days.
Xiang brought the food to the table and went downstairs. Uncle Yan picked up some of each dish for Aunt Jiang, and the plates in front of Aunt Jiang immediately piled up into a small mountain.
"It's too much. I can't finish it." Aunt Jiang looked at "Xiaoshan" with some worry.
"You eat first, I'll eat the rest." Uncle Yan nonchalantly picked up a bun and put it in his mouth, mumbling, "Today's buns taste great, try them."
Aunt Jiang drank two mouthfuls of porridge before starting to eat the buns.
Although she had no appetite, under Uncle Yan's persuasion, she drank a bowl of porridge, ate buns, and ate a few wontons.
Aunt Jiang, who had never eaten so much before, walked around the house twice after finishing her meal.
Uncle Yan's face was filled with guilt: "It's all my fault. I won't try to persuade you again next time."
"I ate it myself, what does it have to do with you?" Aunt Jiang has never been the type to vent her anger on others.
Uncle Yan felt that it was all his fault, so he sat down and helped Aunt Jiang for a walk.
After walking for half a minute, Aunt Jiang finally felt better. Xiang came in with a letter and handed it to Aunt Jiang.
Aunt Jiang was a little surprised. Since the letter was sent to the Jiang family, why would Hongyu have someone send it again? But after opening the letter and reading it, her expression became a little strange.
"What's wrong?" Uncle Yan asked worriedly.
Aunt Jiang sighed: "My niece from my mother's family is coming."
"Are you here to see me?" Uncle Yan said this without even believing it himself.
If the Zhou family wanted to visit Aunt Jiang, they would never send a younger generation over.
"She is my second brother's concubine's daughter, only fourteen years old. She said she came to see me." Aunt Jiang felt that her stomach, which had just felt better, began to hurt again. She was angry.
Uncle Yan's expression was not good either: "Did this concubine's daughter make any mistakes?"
This was the only place he could think of. Otherwise, who would let a daughter who had not yet reached the age of marriage come to such a remote place for no reason?
Uncle Yan’s first reaction was that Aunt Jiang’s second sister-in-law couldn’t tolerate this daughter, so she sent the concubine’s daughter here.
"My second brother wants this daughter to develop a relationship with Hongyu." Aunt Jiang felt ashamed when she said this. When did the daughter of their Zhou family become so worthless?
"Your second brother wants his concubine's daughter to be Jiang Hongyu's concubine?" Uncle Yan frowned. Even if she was a concubine's daughter, her status was higher than Ye Mingzhu's. With such a concubine, Ye Mingzhu's life would be very difficult.
"My second brother is reluctant to let his daughter become a concubine." Aunt Jiang became more and more angry, and finally threw the letter on the table.
"Not as a concubine?" Uncle Yan quickly understood what Aunt Jiang meant. "Does your second brother want Mingzhu to be his concubine, or does he want Hongyu to divorce Mingzhu?"
"My second brother only said that this concubine's daughter should marry Hongyu in a few years, but he didn't say what to do with Mingzhu?" Aunt Jiang felt so embarrassed.
She had ignored her own family for many years, and something strange happened on the second day after her second marriage. She had no choice but to say something because her adopted niece was on the way.
"My second brother is not afraid that I will ignore her." Aunt Jiang said angrily, but she couldn't really ignore her.
"You have been kind-hearted since you were young, how could you not care about your niece?" Uncle Yan didn't know what words to use to describe Aunt Jiang's second brother.
He betrothed a fourteen-year-old concubine's daughter to Jiang Hongyu, hoping that Jiang Hongyu would be promoted in a few years so that he could reap the benefits.
I guess this concubine's daughter is also loved by Brother Zhou Er.
"She's just a fourteen-year-old girl. She can come whenever she wants. Our house is big enough for a little girl to stay here."
Uncle Yan thought for a while and said, "I'll have someone clean up the guest room and give it to you, my cousin, to stay in."
Aunt Jiang didn't understand what Uncle Yan meant and frowned: "Let her live here?"
Uncle Yan nodded: "Since she has come to live with my aunt, she will naturally live in my aunt's house. She will soon be coming of age, so she should be careful about the gender difference. It is not convenient for her to see Hongyu too much. But it is okay for Mingzhu, my cousin's sister-in-law, to come to our house to meet her."
Aunt Jiang quickly understood Uncle Yan's intention. If she didn't let her niece meet Hongyu, nothing would go wrong.
For the first time, Aunt Jiang cursed her second brother in her heart.
She was unhappy and did not prepare anything special for her niece. She just asked Xiang to clean the room.
The capital is too far away from here. Even though the little girl has already set off, it will take at least a month to get here. If she is slower, it may take two months.
Aunt Jiang thought about letting Ye Mingzhu get pregnant first, so that her child would be the eldest son, but after hesitating for a while, she gave up.
Although Ye Mingzhu looks in good health, she is still young after all. If she gets pregnant now, there is a high chance of a difficult delivery.
She had just told Ye Mingzhu a few days ago that she would not let her get pregnant for the time being. If she changed her mind now, she was afraid that Mingzhu would think too much.
Fortunately, my niece is still young, so I can slowly think of a solution.
"We still need to tell Mingzhu about this." Uncle Yan said, "If Mingzhu hears this from your niece, I'm afraid she will misunderstand."
Aunt Jiang believed that Ye Mingzhu was not a stingy person, but these days, she saw that Ye Mingzhu and Jiang Hongyu's relationship was getting better and better. It would be even worse if she thought too much, so it was better to tell the truth in advance.
If my niece comes and causes trouble, we can work together to find a solution.
Aunt Jiang was about to leave when Uncle Yan stopped her: "Today is the second day of your wedding. You should at least wait until the third day before returning home."
Before the wedding, they agreed to go through the ceremony just like their first wedding.
Although Aunt Jiang was anxious, this was something that had been agreed upon in advance, and it was also for the sake of good omen, so although she was anxious, she still insisted on waiting until the third day to return home.
When Jiang Hongyu left, he did not tell Ye Mingzhu that Zhou's cousin was coming, so Ye Mingzhu was in a good mood these two days.
When Aunt Jiang returned home, Ye Mingzhu came to greet her with a happy face, and smiled as she asked Yunniang to bring out the snacks and freshly brewed tea that had been prepared early in the morning.
Aunt Jiang glanced at Uncle Yan and felt particularly sorry for Ye Mingzhu.
"Mingzhu, second uncle Hongyu's daughter is coming to visit us for a few days." Aunt Jiang tried to make the matter sound light, but Ye Mingzhu could hear something wrong.
"My cousin is coming. When? We need to make some arrangements in advance."
"I have already made an agreement with your Uncle Yan that Jinman will live with us after she comes. You don't have to come over if you have nothing to do." Aunt Jiang stated her position first.
"Mom, my cousin is so young, I will give in to her." Ye Mingzhu's attitude was very good, but the alarm had already sounded in her heart.
"There's a big age gap between you two, so I guess you won't be able to communicate with each other. Since she's here to see me, let her stay with me more." Aunt Jiang cut off Zhou Jinman's escape route with just a few words.
