Chapter 404: Kill the Bandits

Chapter 404: Kill the Bandits

The two teams soon started fighting each other. For a moment, the whole island was filled with shouts. Yu Jiaming and Xiao Wu had already been awakened, but neither of them went out, for fear that they would not kill the thieves and would have to trouble others to rescue them.

But they didn't go out, so a few thieves sneaked into their tent and almost hit Xiaowu who was looking out to see what was happening outside.

Xiaowu screamed and was pulled by Yu Jiaming from behind, narrowly avoiding the danger.

Jiang Hongyu and Fu Chengyun were both fighting with the thieves and heard Xiaowu's shouts. They wanted to turn around to save them, but the thieves in front of them were all good at martial arts and they didn't have time to spare.

Yu Jiaming and Xiaowu hid here and there, occasionally fighting with the thieves, but they soon ran away.

Both of them are noblemen. Although Xiaowu has some martial arts skills, it is still dangerous for him to protect Yu Jiaming.

Jiang Hongyu finally defeated the entangled bandits, and when he returned to rescue them, he was just in time to stop the bandits from chopping Yu Jiaming with their swords.

But the gangster also hit his arm, and blood spurted out on the spot.

Yu Jiaming stepped forward and covered his arm, but was pushed away by Jiang Hongyu.

He fell to the ground and found that Jiang Hongyu had knocked down another thief and used a knife to cut a piece of cloth from his body and tied it around his arm.

Jiang Hongyu only had time to push Yu Jiaming and Xiaowu into the tent, and a fight broke out nearby.

The whole fight lasted for more than an hour before the thieves left by boat.

Fu Chengyun angrily wanted to chase after them, but was stopped by Jiang Hongyu: "It's too dark. You are not good at fighting at sea. What if the other side has an ambush? It will be even more dangerous."

Fu Chengyun knew that what Jiang Hongyu said made sense. Although he was still very angry, he stopped chasing after him.

"I have some medicine here. I'll bandage everyone's wounds first. I'll find someone to call a doctor tomorrow morning."

Jiang Hongyu smelled the blood in the air and asked everyone to count the number of injured people first, and then go to him to get medicine.

Xiao Wu pointed at his arm and said, "You should take a look at your arm first. It's bleeding."

Jiang Hongyu nodded: "I'll re-bandage it later."

Having said that, he waited until all the injured soldiers had been checked, then asked Ye Lang to take the weapons thrown away by the thieves and check them.

Yu Jiaming's face was a little pale, and he insisted that Jiang Hongyu bandage his arm before checking it carefully.

"Hongyu, thanks to you today. If it weren't for you, I would be the one injured today." Yu Jiaming bowed solemnly to Jiang Hongyu.

"You saved my life today. I'll remember this favor."

Jiang Hongyu put on his clothes and asked Xiaowu to help Yu Jiaming up before saying, "I'm stationed on the island. It's my duty to guard this place. Saving you was just a matter of convenience. You don't have to be so polite."

That being said, the situation was critical at the time. The thief's knife was aimed at Yu Jiaming's head. If it weren't for Jiang Hongyu, Yu Jiaming would have been lying down.

"I need no thanks for your kindness. You and your wife have both saved me. If I have the chance in the future, I will definitely repay you." Yu Jiaming bowed solemnly again.

Jiang Hongyu reached out to help him, but accidentally pulled his arm: "Ouch."

Yu Jiaming quickly stood up and tried to help him, but Jiang Hongyu had already sat back down.

Ye Lang came in with two knives and placed them on the ground: "These are the weapons used by thieves."

Xiao Wu took a knife and examined it carefully. His brows furrowed deeper and deeper. He handed the knife to Yu Jiaming and said, "Look at this knife."

Yu Jiaming took the knife, confused, and examined it carefully before shaking his head: "There's no marking on this knife."

Jiang Hongyu stepped forward and took another knife. After examining it carefully, his expression matched Xiaowu's: "This knife is much better, even better than ours."

He called Ye Lang in loudly and asked him to take off the weapons he was carrying.

Comparing the two, Yu Jiaming also noticed: "Their weapons don't look much different from yours."

This is a big problem. The weapons carried by Jiang Hongyu and others are uniformly produced by the Ministry of War, but now some people have weapons that are as good as theirs. So what went wrong?

Was there a problem with the Ministry of War? Or was there a problem with the transportation? Or perhaps someone had gotten hold of the raw materials?

No matter what the problem is, it is not something they can solve.

"It seems these people came prepared." Yu Jiaming asked Jiang Hongyu: "Has the gold that was recently dug been transported away?"

"Not yet. We were planning to ship it out in the next day or two."

Jiang Hongyu and Fu Chengyun looked at each other, feeling a little heavy in their hearts. They didn't know whether there was a thief on the island or someone was targeting the island.

Either way, the situation is not good.

"You arrange for people to transport the gold away as soon as possible in the next two days. I will ask someone to draw the appearance of those thieves tomorrow and see if we can find any clues." Yu Jiaming also thought of something and his face turned dark.

After some discussion, several people decided that Jiang Hongyu would stay on the island, Fu Chengyun would transport the gold out, and Yu Jiaming would be responsible for investigating the bandits.

By the time everything was done, it was almost dawn.

Not many bandits died yesterday, only two. Most of them were injured and then dragged onto the boat and taken away.

Yu Jiaming originally wanted to move the bodies of the two bandits away, but in broad daylight, if the villagers saw them, it would probably lead to gossip. In the end, Xiaowu drew portraits of the two men and examined their bodies in detail, and finally the plan was forgotten.

"These two people look ordinary and have no marks on their bodies. I don't know where they come from." What Yu Jiaming fears most is that these two people are related to the nobles in the capital, which would cause endless troubles.

Jiang Hongyu didn't care about these things. After all, he was just a seventh-rank captain now. Even if the sky fell, there was someone taller to support it, so he was not afraid.

Fu Chengyun, who always had a carefree temperament, asked, "Is there a doctor in the village?"

"My mother is a doctor. I will let Ye Lang go with Lord Yu. Ye Lang just needs to tell my mother the truth and ask her to bring Mingzhu here as soon as possible." Jiang Hongyu made arrangements quickly and watched them leave.

"Your mother's medical skills must be good." Fu Chengyun stood beside Jiang Hongyu.

"Well, my mother's medical skills are very good." Jiang Hongyu looked proud, but then a trace of guilt flashed in his eyes.

He used to get injured often, but he would try his best to hide it when he returned home, trying not to let Aunt Jiang find out. But now everyone on the island knows that he is injured, so it is really difficult to hide it.

Fu Chengyun patted Jiang Hongyu's uninjured arm and asked, "When your mother comes, will she bring us some food?"

Jiang Hongyu turned his head to look at him: "...What do you think?"

"I should have told Ye Lang to buy me some food. I was so tired last night, I should eat something good today."

"Have you moved out all the gold you want to take away? When are you planning to leave?" Jiang Hongyu asked calmly.

Fu Chengyun: ...Is it wrong to want to eat?
