Chapter 50 Mingzhu Returns Home

Chapter 50 Mingzhu Returns Home

The next day, Jiang Hongyu and Ye Mingzhu did not go to town. Aunt Jiang said that newlyweds should not go out and asked them to cultivate their relationship at home.

There are snacks, bacon and cloth at home, which are not light gifts as return visits.

The next day, Jiang Hongyu took Ye Mingzhu to Uncle Ye's house.

Uncle Ye's family all changed into clothes that were 70% new and had no patches. Ye Yunping and Ye Yunli both called him brother-in-law.

Jiang Hongyu gave everyone a handful of candy.

Fang smiled and refused: "They are all grown up and don't need candy anymore."

Jiang Hongyu glanced at Ye Mingzhu, who waved at the two brothers: "Take it and eat it. Yun'an has some too."

The two brothers laughed and said, "Thank you, sister, thank you, brother-in-law."

Fang then waved at the two men and asked them to leave.

Uncle Ye specially bought tea to entertain Jiang Hongyu, and Fang took the opportunity to pull Ye Mingzhu into the house.

"Mingzhu, how was your night?"

Fang felt a little embarrassed when she asked this question.

Ye Mingzhu: "... Third Aunt, my cold hasn't been cured yet. Mother-in-law said we can wait until I'm better before consummating the marriage."

Fang was a little anxious: "How can you get married without consummating the marriage?"

Ye Mingzhu sensed Fang's kindness towards her and explained, "My health is not good. Even if we consummate the marriage, I won't be able to conceive. It's better for me to recover first."

Fang finally breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good. Sister Jiang and I have a good relationship. If you have any conflicts with her, don't talk back. I will go and persuade you later."

Ye Mingzhu nodded.

Fang was afraid that Ye Mingzhu would think too much, so she added, "Mingzhu, if you don't want me to meddle in other people's business, I won't say anything."

After all, Ye Mingzhu is not her daughter. Even though their relationship has improved a lot recently, she is still afraid of getting involved in her niece's in-laws' affairs and being bothered by Mingzhu.

"Aunt San, I know you're doing this for my own good. After my parents passed away, you and Uncle San were very kind to me."

Ye Mingzhu meant what she said. Although there were some things she could do on her own, she could feel her Third Aunt's sincerity towards her during this period.

Outside the house, Uncle Ye invited Jiang Hongyu to buy pearls with him, so that Jiang Hongyu could earn more money.

Jiang Hongyu said with a smile: "Thank you, Third Uncle, for thinking of me. With your care, our lives will definitely get better and better. But recently a friend found me a job. I will come to see you when I am done."

Uncle Ye had come into contact with quite a few people recently while purchasing pearls. He heard the rejection in Jiang Hongyu's words, but he was not unhappy. He was just worried.

Jiang Hongyu noticed it immediately. He poured a cup of tea for Uncle Ye and asked about his business.

Uncle Ye recently bought a lot of pearls and sent them to Linglong Pavilion in the town. His income has increased several times compared to before. He didn’t want to tell outsiders about it, but now he is telling his nephew-in-law about it, and he is very happy.

Uncle Ye's face flushed as he spoke, and he didn't stop until Fang brought the food to the table: "Why are you eating so early?"

Fang pointed at the sky outside and said unhappily, "It's almost noon, is it still early? Hurry up and move the stools and get ready for dinner."

Uncle Ye was still mumbling: "How come time flies so fast? We didn't talk much."

Fang slapped him helplessly and said, "Don't brag about your deeds. It's just a collection of pearls. If you didn't have pearls, how would you get this job?"

Ye Mingzhu quickly waved her hands: "This is all Uncle San's own ability, I just said a word."

Uncle Ye raised his eyebrows and looked at Fang proudly. Fang twisted his arm speechlessly under the table. Uncle Ye dared not say anything because he did not want to make a fool of himself in front of Ye Mingzhu and his wife.

Fang knew in advance that Ye Mingzhu would come to her house to pay her respects, so she had already made preparations. She prepared four dishes: stewed chicken, stewed fish, eggs, and stir-fried vegetables. Each plate was very large, enough for them to eat their fill with some left over.

Fang served out some of each dish and asked Yunping to take it to the Jiang family and give it to Aunt Jiang and Ye Yun'an.

Uncle Ye prepared half a jar of white wine and drank happily with Jiang Hongyu.

"Although my second brother and his wife are gone, our Mingzhu, well, also has her family. Hongyu, you must treat her well in the future." Uncle Ye's face was a little flushed after drinking, and his speech was a little unclear.

Fang took the wine glass from his hand and said, "Look at what you said. Hongyu came to ask for marriage in person and even prepared so much betrothal gifts. How could he not treat Mingzhu well?"

Jiang Hongyu immediately promised: "Don't worry, Uncle and Aunt, I will treat Mingzhu well in the future. I will give Mingzhu whatever I eat. Mingzhu will only dress better than me, not worse than me."

Fang nodded with satisfaction, and Uncle Ye was in a trance for a moment.

"I remember Mingzhu's uncle used to say that. Although he's only a few years older than Mingzhu, he's always been nice to Mingzhu since they were young. He even said that when Mingzhu reaches the age of 15, he'll definitely come back and hold a coming-of-age party for her, so she can be treated like a lady from the city."

Fang quickly shrugged at Uncle Ye. Isn't this just bringing up something that is not relevant?

Mingzhu has been an adult for several months. Who knows where Uncle Wang has gone? It’s not easy to make a living outside. What if... Wouldn’t it make everyone sad if we mention it now?

Jiang Hongyu glanced at Ye Mingzhu and knew that the excuse she gave could be used.

"Uncle San, my mother only has my uncle as a relative. When my parents passed away, they sent a letter to Xinghua Village, but my uncle is not at home. It has been more than half a year, and I don't know if my uncle has returned. I want to go over and see him."

Ye Mingzhu lowered her eyes, her voice vague.

"Xinghua Village is a day or two's journey from here, and it's too tiring to walk there. If you walk there, you'll have to rest for at least a whole day. Besides, your uncle may not be back yet, so let's wait a little longer."

Ye Mingzhu bit her lip and said nothing.

Jiang Hongyu said, "I'll go take a look. I've been to Xinghua Village before and know where it is. If my uncle doesn't come back, I'll leave a message for the village."

Ye Mingzhu was still hesitating, but Third Uncle Ye had already slammed the table with a smile: "That's a good idea. Hongyu is your husband, and it would be most appropriate for him to go there for you."

Jiang Hongyu nodded: "I have thick skin and am used to walking. It will take at least four days, at most six days, and I will definitely be back."

Ye Mingzhu's eyes flashed. This didn't match the original time.

Uncle Ye had already made the decision and took up his glass to drink with Jiang Hongyu: "Then I'll trouble you, Hongyu. If you have any news about my uncle Wang Wang, please let me know."

Jiang Hongyu raised his wine glass with both hands: "Mingzhu's business is my business. This is what I should do."

The guests enjoyed the meal very much and it lasted for more than an hour.

Uncle Ye had a dazed look in his eyes. He patted Jiang Hongyu's arm and kept talking. Fang couldn't stand it anymore and pulled him away. Only then were Ye Mingzhu and the others able to leave.

On the way back, Ye Mingzhu asked, "Why do you spend more time out? Is the situation difficult?"
