Chapter 99: Shipwreck at Night
Jiang Hongyu came out of the house and looked at Mo Xing and the others: "I don't need anyone here, you two go eat."
The two of them remained motionless and quietly moved a little towards Ye Mingzhu.
Jiang Hongyu had a strange expression on his face. He raised his chin towards the two of them and motioned for her to speak.
Ye Mingzhu didn't understand, but followed his meaning and said, "Auntie Mo is already cooking. You guys can go back. We don't need anyone here anymore."
Mo Xing and the other man didn't say a word. They just squatted down, bowed, and left.
Jiang Hongyu sighed, pulled Ye Mingzhu into the house, and the two of them sat down.
"What's wrong with these two people? They don't listen to you and insist that I speak for them?" Ye Mingzhu was not angry, but just felt a little strange.
Jiang Hongyu hesitated for a moment and said, "The sisters seem to be upset and don't want to talk to men."
Ye Mingzhu was even more surprised by what she heard, because when she first arrived, she saw the two sisters standing at the door.
"After I bought them, Aunt Mo told me that they could do anything except serve the male owner. They were about to come and serve you, but when they saw I was the only one in the room, they immediately left."
"I bought them because Aunt Mo looks like my wet nurse. On the way here, my mother had already released my wet nurse, but she insisted on following us. I fell ill on the way, and my wet nurse suffered all kinds of grievances in order to find medicine for me. In the end, she didn't stick with us."
Jiang Hongyu sat on the chair, holding his head in his hands, feeling very depressed.
"If the wet nurse is still alive, she should be similar to Aunt Mo. When she knelt in front of me, I really thought it was the wet nurse."
Although Ye Mingzhu had never experienced this, she could hear the pain in Jiang Hongyu's voice. She stood up in front of Jiang Hongyu, hugged his head, and comforted him softly.
"If Nanny were alive, she would definitely not want to see you so sad."
Ye Mingzhu gently patted Jiang Hongyu's back and suddenly thought: "Is there a possibility that Aunt Mo and the wet nurse are sisters?"
Jiang Hongyu shook his head: "No, I checked Aunt Mo's background. She has always lived here and has nothing to do with the wet nurse."
Ye Mingzhu didn't say anything else, just quietly accompanied Jiang Hongyu.
"Sister, brother-in-law, the noodles are ready." Ye Yun'an came in with a tray and was stunned for a moment when he saw this scene.
The two people reacted quickly. Ye Mingzhu's face turned a little red. She wanted to explain, but didn't know how. She simply took the tray from Ye Yun'an's hand as if nothing had happened.
Ye Yun'an didn't help her. As he put the bowl of noodles on the table, he winked and said, "Sister, are my noodles cooking too fast?"
Ye Mingzhu glared at him: "What's the hurry? Your brother-in-law is hungry."
Jiang Hongyu had already calmed down while the two of them were laughing and joking. He turned around and wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes with his sleeve.
He knew very well that his wet nurse was no longer around, but he had promised her that he would live a good life and provide for her.
Ye Mingzhu went outside to fetch some water and asked him to wash his hands. He washed his face as well, put his mind at ease, and started eating noodles.
Ye Mingzhu placed the side dishes for the noodles in front of him, and Jiang Hongyu put the fried crispy meat pieces in the bowl into her bowl. This was her favorite.
Ye Yun'an ate noodles while looking up at the two of them. He always felt that the atmosphere between them was weird.
Ye Mingzhu felt uneasy when he looked at her, so she knocked on his head, and only then did he start eating the noodles seriously.
After finishing the noodles, Ye Yun'an cleaned up the dishes and said with a smile, "I won't bother my sister and brother-in-law."
Before Ye Mingzhu could hit him on the head again, he had already quickly run away with the dishes and chopsticks.
Ye Mingzhu felt a little embarrassed by what he said. When she turned around and saw Jiang Hongyu's smiling eyes, she felt even more embarrassed. She looked at the moonlight pouring into the house from outside and had an idea: "We ate a bit too much today. How about going for a walk outside?"
Jiang Hongyu looked outside and nodded: "We have been here for two days and haven't had a good walk yet. It would be nice to go out for a walk."
The two of them strolled on the farm in the watery moonlight, and unknowingly walked a little further away.
"I didn't expect there are mountains here?" Ye Mingzhu said, pointing to the dark mass in front of her. She seemed to hear the sound of water.
Jiang Hongyu also saw it, but the mountain didn’t look very high, and it was night, so it was not safe to go up the mountain.
Ye Mingzhu had no plans to go up the mountain. She was just curious about why there was the sound of water on the other side of the mountain.
Jiang Hongyu didn't agree with her going over to take a look, so she suppressed her curiosity and prepared to go back along the road ahead.
Turning a corner, she heard the sound of the sea. Someone who grew up by the sea would not be mistaken.
Unexpectedly, this village actually has a side close to the sea. It seemed like there was a door on the mountain side, and the sea water poured in from outside the door. She took a step forward and squatted down. The sea water just hit her, and she felt a little cool and very comfortable.
Come to think of it, she hadn't been to the sea for a while, and she felt a little itchy.
"Brother Yu, I want to go down to the sea and take a look?" Although Ye Mingzhu didn't know where this sea water led to, she had the pearl and was not afraid at all.
Jiang Hongyu frowned, his voice filled with worry in the darkness: "This is our first time here, and we don't know how deep the water is. It would be dangerous if there are reefs."
Ye Mingzhu wanted to say that she was not afraid, but Jiang Hongyu held her hand and said, "If you really want to go into the sea, ask the people on the farm tomorrow. If there is no danger in this sea, then you can go into the sea."
Ye Mingzhu was a person who listened to advice. Not wanting to make Jiang Hongyu worry, she nodded in agreement, then looked back at the sea with regret.
Just like that, she saw a boat that was shaking and split into two. Soon, a cry for help came with the sound of the wind.
She and Jiang Hongyu glanced at each other, and their voices became louder and clearer.
She casually took off her coat and said quickly, "I'm going to save someone, you wait here."
Jiang Hongyu only had time to take her clothes before he saw her quickly run into the sea and soon disappeared.
He narrowed his eyes worriedly, and soon a dark shadow appeared on the sea, and seemed to be waving towards him.
Jiang Hongyu stared at the sea nervously. Although he could swim, he was no match for Ye Mingzhu who grew up by the sea. The shipwreck was some distance away from here. If he swam over, who would save whom?
It was purely a coincidence that he saved Ye Mingzhu. It was daytime and he was close to her.
Ye Mingzhu was unaware of Jiang Hongyu's dilemma. She swam towards the sunken ship as fast as a fish. A young man was struggling desperately. When he saw her, he shouted something, then drank a big mouthful of sea water and sank into the sea.
Ye Mingzhu was speechless. She quickly dived under the water, lifted the man up, and let him lie on a wooden board.
The first words the man said were: "My bag is still in the boat."
