Chapter 380 No Wife
"What's wrong? You choked even after drinking bird's nest?" Doctor Murong hurried into the room, placed the medicine bag on the table, and poured a glass of water for Jian Pingping: "Drink some water quickly."
Jian Pingping turned her head and coughed twice, and her pale face turned pink before she stopped.
"Doctor Murong, why are you here again?"
"Your fever has subsided. The medicine you took yesterday is no longer suitable. I have prescribed some new medicine for you. Bring it here." Doctor Murong pointed to the medicine bag on the table.
"Thank you, Doctor Murong." Jian Pingping thanked him again.
"I just heard that you were going to give me a big gift?" Doctor Murong said casually.
"I heard from the maid that my illness was cured thanks to Doctor Murong, so it's only right that you give me a big gift." Jian Pingping said this sincerely.
"Oh, I wonder what gift you are going to give me?" There seemed to be something in Doctor Murong's eyes when he looked at her.
Jian Pingping avoided his gaze and said, "Doctor Murong, if you need anything, please feel free to tell me."
"Except for the fact that I don't have a wife, I have everything I need." Doctor Murong spoke in a very calm tone, as if he was saying that the weather outside was very good.
Jian Pingping and Bihe were both stunned.
"Okay, the medicine has been delivered. Your maid has learned how to boil the medicine from Tiandong. I'll leave first and come to see you tomorrow." Doctor Murong left without looking at the expressions of the two people.
"Miss, Doctor Murong, it seems like he was proposing marriage for you just now?" Bihe stuttered after a while.
"Don't talk nonsense." Jian Pingping immediately retorted, but an idea also came to her mind.
Could it be that Doctor Murong really fell in love with her?
Her mind was in a mess and she didn't know what to feel.
"Miss, I heard that Doctor Murong just said that. He braved the rain to send us back, treated you, and gave you bird's nest and medicine bags. He must want to marry you."
"Don't talk nonsense. I'm still engaged to my cousin." Having said that, Jian Pingping just lay down and didn't want to say anything.
Thinking of the attitude of the prefect's wife, Bihe also shut up.
"Bihe, has my uncle's family sent anyone to visit me these two days?" Jian Pingping suddenly asked.
"No, except for Doctor Murong who came to see the young lady, no outsiders have come to the house." Bihe answered quickly.
"Okay, go down, I want to sleep for a while."
Jian Pingping had just woken up and couldn't fall asleep again. She just wanted to be alone for a while.
"I'll take the medicine to the kitchen to boil it." Bihe obediently went downstairs carrying the medicine bag.
Jian Pingping let her tears fall.
She knew that her aunt really didn't want her cousin to marry her. It rained so heavily just yesterday when she came out of her aunt's house. If her aunt was worried about her at all, she would send someone to check on her.
But now a day and a night have passed, and there is still no movement. Jian Pingping has completely given up the idea of marrying her cousin. She is now only thinking about how to avoid becoming her cousin's concubine.
She suddenly thought of Sister Qing that Mei'er mentioned. Her cousin had been chasing after that person. Presumably, that was the one her aunt liked.
When she bought the ruby hairpin, the other party said that she was not suitable to wear it. Perhaps they had reached some kind of agreement to make her a concubine.
Jian Pingping grabbed the quilt under her tightly, she would never be a concubine.
Jian Pingping didn't tell anyone else about her illness except Jiang Yue. Ye Mingzhu only found out about it when she went to give Jiang Yue a dowry gift.
After delivering the dowry gift, she went to Jian Pingping's house.
After a few days of recuperation, Jian Pingping's condition has improved a lot and he can get up and walk around.
"Pingping, why didn't you send me a letter when you were sick so that I could come and see you." Ye Mingzhu looked at Jian Pingping's thinner face and asked her with a stern face.
"Your uncle is getting married to Jiang Yue, so you must be busy at home. I just had a minor illness and I'm almost well now." Jian Pingping didn't get close to Ye Mingzhu, but sat opposite her.
"You say that, it means you don't consider me your friend anymore. No matter how busy I am, I still don't have time to come and see you." Ye Mingzhu shook her head. "How are you now? I see you've lost a lot of weight."
Jian Pingping knew she meant well, so he stood up and took two steps in front of her: "It's just that I haven't had much of an appetite these past two days, so I've lost some weight."
"I brought you some food and asked the maid to cook it for you." Ye Mingzhu showed the things she brought to Jian Pingping.
Jian Pingping knew that Ye Mingzhu lived at her uncle's house. Looking at the large and small bags she brought, he waved his hand and said, "I'm almost well now. Why are you buying so many things?"
After she finished speaking, she glanced at Chun Xing. She knew that this maid was from Ye Mingzhu's uncle's family. What if she went back to complain and Ye Mingzhu's uncle blamed her?
"My young lady heard that Miss Jane was ill, so she immediately went to buy these supplements and sent them over. I hope Miss Jane won't dislike them." Chun Xing immediately explained the source of these things.
Jian Pingping winked at Bihe and asked her to take Chunxing out for tea.
Chun Xing saw Ye Mingzhu nod, and then followed her out.
"Mingzhu, it's not that I dislike these things, but you live in your uncle's house. If you buy so many things, I'm afraid your uncle will have an opinion." Jian Pingping explained.
"Don't worry, my uncle won't blame me. Besides, I bought all these things with my own money. It's okay."
Ye Mingzhu comforted.
Jian Pingping had heard Ye Mingzhu say before that her uncle was good to her, and Jiang Yue also seemed to like Ye Mingzhu from her words.
"I'm still sick, so I sent a dowry gift to Jiang Yue. But I'm afraid I won't be able to attend her wedding tomorrow."
Ye Mingzhu quickly comforted her: "Sister Yue just told you to take good care of yourself and come to see you after she gets married."
"Jiang Yue just got married and has a lot of things to do. I'm almost well now, so why do I need her to come and see me?" Jian Pingping knew that Ye Mingzhu and Jiang Yue meant well, but because of this, she felt even more embarrassed to trouble them.
"There's no need to talk about this between us." Ye Mingzhu really liked Jian Pingping: "I've been living in the capital for a while. After my uncle and Sister Yue get married, I'll be leaving soon."
"So soon?" Jian Pingping's eyes were filled with reluctance: "We haven't gotten together since you came."
"I've been here for a while, and there are still a lot of things to do at home. I can't stay outside all the time." Ye Mingzhu was also helpless.
Transportation was too underdeveloped in ancient times. A round trip would take more than a month, so it was really inconvenient to come here all the time.
Wang Dahu wanted Ye Mingzhu to stay for a few more days, but Ye Mingzhu counted the days and had to go home to prepare for Uncle Yan and Aunt Jiang's wedding, so she really couldn't delay any longer.
Jian Pingping knew that Ye Mingzhu was already married, and that her in-laws were generous enough for her to stay in the capital for so long. If her in-laws were unwilling to let their daughter-in-law go out, she might not even be able to leave this time.
