Chapter 1: Traveling Through Time

A woman trembled as she hugged her dead daughter, tears streaming down her face.

"Ranran, Ranran, wake up! How could you be so cruel as to abandon your mother? How can I live like this? Woohoo..."

A boy of about fifteen years old was kneeling beside her. He held the girl's cold hand in one hand and kneaded the steamed bun into dough with the other hand.

"Sister, sister, please open your eyes and look. I brought back some white flour buns from town. They are your favorite."

A pair of gray-haired grandparents squatted beside the girl and cried silently.

A six-year-old boy, with red eyes, glared at the guilty girl opposite him with gritted teeth.

"Wu Wangnan, return my sister's life! You pushed my sister into the river. My sister and I saw it with our own eyes. Wang Wuya, Zhang Tiantian and the others saw it too. I will kill you to avenge my sister!"

The skinny Wang Wuya pointed at Wu Wangnan indignantly and said, "I saw it. It was you who pushed Sister Ran!"

"You pushed it!" The little girl in a baby voice responded crying.

The little boy rushed over and knocked Wu Wangnan to the ground. He also lost his balance and fell, bursting into tears.

The gray-haired grandmother rushed over, sat astride Wu Wangnan, grabbed her hair, and slapped her non-stop.

"You little bitch with a bad conscience, you're a slut who was born without anyone to teach you. You've killed my granddaughter. I'm going to beat you to death and make you pay for my granddaughter's life..."

The villagers watching the excitement were talking about it:

[Widow Sun's daughter usually seems quite well behaved, so how could she dare to kill someone? Could it be that Widow Sun has tortured her so much that she's gone crazy?]

[You can't marry a girl like this. If you marry her, your entire family might be wiped out!]

[The girl from the Gu family is so pitiful. She was just a living being, but she has such bad luck!]

Wu Wangnan was beaten so hard that two of his teeth fell out and his face looked like a pig's head. However, he couldn't push away the furious gray-haired grandmother and could only howl loudly:

"Ah, help! Mother, brother, please save me!"

In the crowd, a woman with a mean face saw that Wu Wangnan's face was swollen from being beaten, and reached out to pull the grandmother away.

"Grandma Gu, what are you doing? Let go! Your son's face is disfigured!"

But Grandma Gu was so angry that she couldn't pull it apart.

She turned to look at her silly son and called out softly, "Yaozu, come help and pull them apart. If this money-losing item is damaged, butcher Zhang will cancel the engagement, and you'll have no meat to eat and no money to marry."

The silly son thought that his fat body was going to fly away, which was terrible, so he quickly ran over and grabbed Grandma Gu's arm.

"Old woman, stop it! Stop it!"

This time, Grandma Gu had no strength left and was pulled up by them.

Wu Wangnan's face and nose were bruised, his mouth was full of blood, and he lay on the ground for a long time without getting up.

At this moment, the girl lying in the woman's arms suddenly opened her eyes.

When Gu Xinran woke up, she saw a rain of tears and snot. She gasped and thought, "Oh my god, my face is gone!"

She used all her strength to push away the woman who was holding her, rolled over and lay on the ground.

I thought to myself, didn't I die with the mutant zombies? There's no smell of decay, no zombies, where is this? What's going on?

The boy on the other side stared blankly at his empty hands, confused for a moment.

"Sister, Ranran?" He stared at the girl in disbelief and gently put his hand under her nose.

Instantly, his eyes lit up and he exclaimed in surprise, "There's breath, he's alive!"

He looked up excitedly and shouted to his family: "Grandpa, grandma, mom, brother, little sister, come and see, Ranran is not dead, he is alive!"

The woman immediately hugged her again, crying with joy, "Ran Ran, my Ran Ran is not dead, God has opened his eyes!"

Grandma Gu and her husband were overjoyed. "My dear grandson, you scared me to death. Now you're finally awake. Finally, we don't have to send you off!"

The little boy stumbled over with a little girl by his hand, happily shouting, "Sister! Sister!"

Gu Xinran only felt a buzzing in her ears, and her neck was hugged too tightly, almost strangling her to death. She got goosebumps all over her body in the stranger's arms.

Seeing them wearing coarse linen clothes and with their hair tied up in buns, I felt like I had traveled through time. No matter where this was, it was better than the end of the world. How wonderful!

Everyone was shocked, and all the villagers who were watching gathered together, and were deeply moved by what they saw.

"Come, come, everyone, make way, let me take your pulse." Doctor Guo from the village squeezed into the crowd.

Doctor Guo is an old doctor who has been treating villagers for decades. His apprentice runs a pharmacy in the town and works as a doctor. Everyone goes to him for treatment when they have a headache or fever.

Grandma Gu wiped her face and said, "Daughter-in-law, let Ranran go and let Doctor Guo take a look."

The woman let go of Gu Xinran, revealing her little face. Oh my god, she could finally breathe smoothly.

Everything here is good except that the people are so welcoming. Thinking that I won't have to run around among piles of zombies anymore, I can bear this enthusiasm.

The little boy and the little girl also moved aside a little to make room for Doctor Guo.

Doctor Guo first looked at the face, which was pale and gray, then stretched out his hand, placed his fingers on the pulse and began to take it.

"You'll be fine once you wake up, but you're weak and have caught a cold. I'll get some medicine. Yuchen, come to my house and get it later."

The young man nodded quickly: "Okay, thank you Grandpa Guo, I'll be there in a moment."

Doctor Guo looked at Gu Xinran again and said: "The child is weak and must be well nourished. His clothes are wet. Take him back quickly and give him some ginger water to warm him up first."

The woman quickly replied, "Okay, thank you Uncle Guo."

Doctor Guo waved his hand and went back to prepare medicine.
