Chapter 7 Get rich!

This man is rich, handsome and powerful, but the more powerful a person is, the more dangerous he is. You can only watch him from afar and not have much contact with him.

The bulging purse was waving at her. Gu Xinran opened the purse carefully with a pious heart, and the golden light dazzled her eyes.

Gu Xinran emptied out the entire purse, including two small gold ingots of five taels, ten gold peanuts and ten gold melon seeds, more than ten taels of silver, five silver notes of ten taels, two silver notes of fifty taels, and one silver note of one hundred taels.

I've made a fortune! This adds up to more than five hundred taels of silver!

Buy, buy, buy! I'm missing so many things!

I looked out of the space and saw no one. I had to hurry up and get out. I needed to buy more things. There was nothing I needed at home. If I got home late, my brother would be worried.

I quickly arrived at the market, first visiting a fabric and clothing store, and bought a few nice sets of clothes and shoes. After all, respecting the clothes first and then the people, buying too much would be too shabby and be looked down upon. I hid in the space and dressed up as a maid from a wealthy family.

It would be too inconvenient to buy another car because I have no means of transportation when going out.

At the east end of the market, there's a livestock stall. Should I buy a cow or a mule? Farmers prefer cows, but mules run faster. Forget it, let's just buy a cow and make Grandpa happy.

Just then, an old man came over pulling a covered ox cart with a frown on his face.

The cow looked fine, so Gu Xinran walked over and asked, "Uncle, how old is this cow? It looks fine. Why are you willing to sell it?"

"Alas, my grandson is sick and needs money, and we need money to buy food. There's nothing we can do. Girl, this cow is three years old and it's time to use it. Do you want to buy a cow? Where are your parents?"

"Master, I can make the decision. How much do you want to sell this cow for?"

The old man touched the ox's head and said, "Ten taels of silver, including the cart, no bargaining. This ox is very well behaved, you must treat it well."

"Okay, since you are an honest man, I won't bargain." After saying that, Gu Xinran handed the old man a ten-liang silver note and went to buy things in the ox cart.

I saw someone selling woven bamboo, with twenty baskets, ten backpacks, and plenty of other things, packing up all the woven goods there. There was also a sack seller nearby, so I bought fifty. It only cost me four hundred coins in total, and I had the shopkeepers deliver them to the oxcart and secretly put them away in my space.

I saw a pottery shop and asked for five large and five small water jars, ten pots, jars, and clay pots, and thirty small porcelain bottles. They would all cost one ounce of silver and they would deliver them on an oxcart. Take it, take it, take it.

When I arrived at the meat shop, I got half a leg of pork and twenty pounds of mutton. Unfortunately, there was no beef. I spent two taels and four cents and asked the boss to chop it into five-pound pieces. He also gave me a lot of pork and mutton offal, which were all sent to the ox cart.

I bought candied haws and rice cakes together, ten pounds of candies and snacks, two baskets of apples, pears, and dates, two hundred eggs and two hundred duck eggs each, and some grain and vegetable seeds. I bought whatever I saw and worked like a tiger, spending less than three taels and five cents.

When a cart is full, they will find a secluded place to store the items.

When I came to the alley selling special food, I could smell the aroma of the food from a distance, which made my mouth water.

The noodle shop seemed to be doing good business. I ordered a bowl of shredded pork and egg noodles first. It was so delicious that I asked the boss for another 30 bowls, including the bowls, to take away.

A 20-year-old pork elbow shop, with delicious food and color, please give me 20 servings; roast duck, roast chicken, roast goose, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, please give me 20 each.

Wontons and dumplings are also good. You can buy them with the bowls, thirty servings of each. You can fill up a whole store with steamed buns, steamed bread, and black-flour steamed buns. You can also have sesame cakes, fried dough sticks, and tofu pudding.

On my way back with a full load, I came across a blacksmith's shop. I bought a few ordinary bows and arrows, hoes, sickles, kitchen knives, machetes, and small daggers. These were quite expensive and cost me more than twenty taels.

Passing by the cloth and clothing shop before, I remembered that my family was short of clothes and quilts. I asked the boss to deliver the goods by ox cart, with three pieces of white, green and yellow fine cotton cloth, four pieces of Tibetan blue and dark red coarse cloth, sixty kilograms of cotton, and two pairs of cloth shoes for each person, spending more than ten taels.

I came to a deserted place, slipped into the space, changed back into my previous clothes, and packed out two large backpacks of items to take home as gifts.

I hurried to find my eldest brother, fearing that I would be scolded. More than an hour passed in a flash.

When we arrived at the grain store, Brother Gu and Brother Xiaokang had just bought the grain and were loading it into the truck.

"Brother, Brother Xiaokang, you have bought enough food!"

"How...where did you get this ox cart?" Brother Gu was about to criticize her for being playful when he was surprised to see the ox cart.

Xiaokang circled the oxcart and looked at it. "Not bad, not bad, really energetic!"

Gu Xinran was very proud. "I bought it. We will also be car owners in the future. Big brother, I am awesome, right?"

Brother Gu glanced at Gu Xinran in disbelief, "How much is this ox cart? How can you afford it?"

"Good deeds are rewarded. On the way to the market, a noble man fell ill. I helped him and was rewarded with fifty taels."

I'd better not tell the truth so as not to scare them, but it's not a lie.

Brother Xiaokang gave a thumbs up and said, "Why can't I encounter such a good thing?"

This time, Gu Yuchen really believed that his sister was lucky. "Ranran, amazing."

"Everyone didn't have a good lunch, let's have a snack." Gu Xinran took out sesame cakes and meat buns from the backpack and distributed them to them, and took one for himself and started to eat it.

"Okay, Xiao Ran made money today, let's eat at our lavish restaurant, thank you!" Brother Xiaokang took the food and ate it with relish.

Brother Gu ate while walking around the ox cart, and he was so happy that he wanted to hug the ox and give it a kiss.

Seeing that everyone had eaten their fill, Gu Xinran urged, "Let's put the food evenly on the two carts and hurry home to safety. Big brother, can you drive an ox cart?"

Brother Gu replied with a delighted look on his face: "Of course I can. I learned it from Brother Xiaokang a long time ago."

The new driver Gu Yuchen took over the job. He had some troubles at first, but things got better later. An hour later, he arrived at Datian Town.

When I passed by the grain store, I found that there was no one queuing. The price of grain was the same as in the county. Maybe the news was slow to spread in the town, or maybe people thought it was too expensive and there was no need to buy it.
