Chapter 14: Considering Marrying into the Family
The guards at the Yongning Marquis's Mansion had not yet changed shifts. They had witnessed with their own eyes yesterday how attentive the Marquis was to Xia Yanjing, as well as the few words he had spoken that reached their ears.
As Xia Yanjing was always looking at the door, the guards no longer dared to show any disrespect. They felt that this young master would be very different in the future and they dared not offend him.
Xia Yanjing waited anxiously until a carriage stopped steadily at the door. Xia Yanjing instantly became energetic and stood up to greet it.
The first person to get off the carriage was Ye Zi, followed closely by the imperial physician invited by Ye Zi. Xia Yanjing recognized him at a glance, after all, the medicine box he carried was so classic.
"I wonder if you are General Sheng's man." Xia Yanjing stepped forward and asked politely.
"That's right. Please lead the way, Young Master Xia." Ye Zi got out of the car and secretly observed Xia Yanjing first, then responded politely. After all, he now also represents the General's Mansion.
"Please come this way, both of you."
Xia Yanjing led the way in front, and Ye Zi followed behind to observe. After observation, Ye Zi could only say that Xia Yanjing was so-so, but still needed improvement to be worthy of his general.
Fortunately, Xia Yanjing's previous yard was relatively remote and not far from the gate, so the three of them quickly arrived at Xia Yanjing's yard.
"Shi Tou, I've brought the imperial physician." Xia Yanjing pushed the door open and saw Shi Tou struggling to get up and pour himself some water to drink.
"Shi Tou, let me help you." Xia Yanjing quickly stepped forward, helped Shi Tou lie back on the bed, and immediately poured him a glass of water.
"Young Master, what did you just say? I feel like I'm hallucinating." Shi Tou was stunned at this time. He actually heard the young master say that he had brought the imperial physician to see him.
"Shi Tou, it's true. I asked the general for help, and the general asked the imperial physician to come and check your legs." Xia Yanjing said hurriedly, feeling a little amused.
"Young master, how can a mere servant like me be worthy of the imperial physician's treatment? Shi Tou will never be able to repay you in this lifetime." Shi Tou was so moved that he shed tears. He didn't expect that the young master would actually invite an imperial physician for him.
"Okay, let's stop talking for now. Let the imperial physician take a look at your leg." Xia Yanjing was a little touched after hearing this. It was obvious that Shi Tou had suffered this disaster because of him, and he was still grateful to him.
The imperial physician stepped forward at the right time to take Shi Tou's pulse, then asked about the time he was beaten, and checked Shi Tou's wounds. During the whole process, the imperial physician did not treat Shi Tou perfunctorily just because he was an ordinary servant.
"This little brother is seriously injured, but fortunately there is still time. He must take internal medicine and apply external application at the same time for his legs to recover as before. He must not suffer any more external injuries during this period." The doctor gave detailed instructions.
"Okay, okay, Imperial Physician, please prescribe the medicine. I will definitely remember what you say."
After hearing the words of the imperial physician, Xia Yanjing's heart finally settled down. Fortunately, everything was still in time. It was just that the treatment took too long, and he almost thought that Shitou was beyond saving.
While the doctor was consulting, Xia Yanjing didn't notice that Ye Zi was not there. Ye Zi had already sneaked out to get some information.
Ye Zi weighed the purse in his hand and had to admit that silver was still the most useful. As long as you were willing to pay, there was nothing you couldn't find out.
Ye Zi came back just in time. The imperial physician was writing a prescription. As early as in the carriage, Ye Zi had instructed the imperial physician to delay as much as possible.
"Master Xia, this is the badge that the young master asked me to bring you. If you need any help later, you can bring the badge to the general's mansion."
Ye Zi conveyed Shengxia's words. After all, Shengxia would never go back on her word to Xia Yanjing.
"Okay, thank you, Brother Ye." Xia Yanjing took the badge and held it solemnly in his arms. He couldn't lose it. This was the first thing his male god gave him, so he had to keep it well.
"Mr. Xia, this is the prescription. If you need me for anything else in the future, feel free to come find me at the Imperial Hospital." The imperial physician then began to pack his medicine box.
Seeing that everything was over and he had received the information he wanted, Ye Zi did not linger any longer and said politely, "Master Xia, since the matter is over, we will take our leave first."
"Okay, okay, I'll see you off." Xia Yanjing said in a good mood.
"Then I'll trouble you, Master Xia."
After Ye Zi and the imperial physician left, Xia Yanjing returned to his yard. Shi Tou's curiosity had already reached its peak, and he couldn't wait to know what had happened in the past few days.
Shi Tou heard some noise in the yard and was looking forward to Xia Yanjing coming in. After entering, Xia Yanjing was startled. Shi Tou's expression seemed a little too gossipy.
"Young Master, what happened? How could you ask General Shengda to help me get a royal physician?" Shi Tou started gossiping as soon as he saw Xia Yanjing sitting down.
Xia Yanjing felt a little embarrassed. It turned out that gossip was a gene engraved in his bones. Even if his legs were about to be broken, he would not forget gossip. However, Shi Tou should also know this, otherwise it would be terrible if he was exposed later.
Xia Yanjing then told Shi Tou in detail what happened last night and the story he made up. Shi Tou's eyes lit up as he listened.
"Young master, you are so lucky. If you marry General Shengda in the future, you will be the general's husband. Young master, you can't forget me." Shi Tou said sincerely.
"Young Master, of course I won't forget you. When we go to the General's Mansion later, I will take you to eat delicious food and drink spicy drinks." Xia Yanjing was already imagining his future life of living off his wife.
"Young Master, are you going to marry into the general's family?" When Shi Tou heard that he would be living in the general's mansion in the future, his first reaction was that Xia Yanjing was going to marry into the general's family.
Xia Yanjing pondered for a moment after hearing Shitou's words, "Marrying into the family, isn't that just marrying into the family? This way, I can live off the bride in a legitimate way, which is great."
"This matter hasn't been decided yet. Shitou, let me ask you, do we have a wheelchair here, a chair that can be pushed around." Xia Yanjing suddenly remembered something important.
"Never heard of it." Shi Tou shook his head honestly.
"It's my turn to show off, hahaha." Xia Yanjing was very proud after knowing this. He was worrying about how to make his brother-in-law accept him, but now he was given a pillow when he was sleepy.
Shi Tou looked at Xia Yanjing's expression and thought that his young master must be crazy, so he shook his head silently.
Just as Xia Yanjing was about to get the medicine, he ran into Xia Zhiyong who was with a group of people. Xia Yanjing had no choice but to stop.
"I don't know why my father is here." Xia Yanjing really didn't know why his adoptive father came to see him at this time.
"Jing'er, I've wronged you by living here for so many years. Father has prepared a new yard for you. It's already been cleaned up and is waiting for you to move in."
"Thank you very much, father." Xia Yanjing was not stupid, so he would naturally not refuse the big yard that was delivered to his door. This was all thanks to his future wife.
