Chapter 51 Oddities

Wang Weiguo didn't try to persuade Li Mingyue; he just stood by and protected his wife.

It seems that Li Mingyue's bad temper is largely due to Wang Weiguo's indulgence.

Bai Xiaoyue stepped forward and realized that the gossipy aunt was the mother-in-law of the woman in the same room who had just given birth.

Aunt Wang was rendered speechless by Li Mingyue's retort, her face turning red and then pale, which was quite a sight.

Everyone around them lowered their heads and ate, not daring to say a word.

Li Mingyue then returned with her head held high to continue eating.

The temperature was still quite low at night, so Bai Xiaoyue told Yan Ci to go to bed. The blankets in the hospital were too small, so each person could only sleep on one end of the bed.

The night passed peacefully.

The next morning, Wang's daughter-in-law started having stomach pains. The doctor came to check and said it wasn't time yet, and advised her to move around more.

It wasn't until noon that the doctor said I could go into the delivery room. About two hours after I went in, I heard a baby cry.

Bai Xiaoyue also said to Yan Ci:

"Aci, look, isn't childbirth quick?"

Before Yan Ci could answer, a scream was heard:

"Why is it a girl? My daughter-in-law is clearly carrying a boy. Where did you put my grandson?"

Bai Xiaoyue turned her head and saw that Aunt Wang was holding the nurse's hand tightly.

"Give me back my grandson! My daughter-in-law was carrying a boy; you must have switched him."

The nurse patiently explained:

"Now it's just your daughter-in-law giving birth, no one else."

Aunt Wang shook her head frantically, shouting almost frantically, "I don't care, give me back my grandson!"

The nurse said impatiently, "You're being completely unreasonable!"

She shook off Aunt Wang and went back into the delivery room.

I went back and complained to the doctor:

"The old lady insisted that we had switched the baby, and that her daughter-in-law was carrying a boy."

Upon hearing this, Wang's daughter-in-law remained silent, only numbly shedding tears.

This is her fourth child. First came Daya, then Second, then Third, and now Fourth.

Everyone said that she was carrying a boy, and her mother-in-law, feeling sorry for her grandson, made her come to the hospital to give birth.

Now that she's given birth to a girl, the thought of her mother-in-law's reaction makes her tremble uncontrollably.

Seeing that she was crying, the doctor quickly gave her some instructions:

"You just gave birth, you shouldn't cry. A good mood will help your body recover faster."

Seeing that Aunt Wang didn't want the child, Wang's son stood there helplessly holding the baby, just because it was a girl.

Bai Xiaoyue felt extremely distressed, as the preference for sons over daughters was particularly severe in this era of earning work points.

Aunt Wang only stopped throwing a tantrum after her daughter-in-law returned to her room.

She turned her anger on her daughter-in-law:

"You're a hen that can't lay eggs, you've already given birth to four girls, are you trying to cut off the Wang family line?"

Wang's son was like a fool, not saying a word, while Wang's daughter-in-law held the child and silently shed tears.

Aunt Wang, still not satisfied with her cursing, even tried to snatch the child:

"Just throw the little brat away and give me a grandson next year."

Wang's daughter-in-law clung tightly to her daughter, and seeing her husband standing motionless, she roared resolutely at her mother-in-law:

"If you take my child away, I'll kill myself right now."

Her husband was startled and finally reacted, "Mother, stop it."

Aunt Wang was initially stunned by her submissive daughter-in-law's shouting.

Coming to her senses, she felt even more enraged that her daughter-in-law dared to resist, which made her lose face: "Go to hell, go now."

Wang's daughter-in-law, holding her child, climbed onto the windowsill using a chair and sat on it.

Her man finally panicked and went to pull her away.

She leaned to the side, refusing to let the man pull her, and almost fell.

Li Mingyue was startled, and her stomach began to ache.

At this moment, the hospital's doctors and nurses arrived and tried to persuade Wang's daughter-in-law to come down.

She refused to get down, only looking resolutely at her man, and asked him:

"Tiesheng, I won't send Siya away, and I don't want to have any more children. Do you agree?"

Wang Tiesheng sensed that his wife really wanted to die, and he felt terrified.

This woman, who had four children with him, was in the prime of her life when she came with him, but she never had a single good day.

The villagers laughed at him behind his back every day, saying that he couldn't have a son and that it made him lose face.

My mother scolds my wife every day at home, so I found an excuse to think that having a daughter wasn't my problem, but my wife's.

He was so blinded by greed; what kind of man was he? Thinking of this, he slapped himself hard several times.

Aunt Wang exclaimed, "Tiesheng, why are you hitting yourself?"

Wang Tiesheng said firmly to Aunt Wang:

"Mother, I will only raise these four daughters and will not have any more children."

I'm not afraid of being laughed at. I will raise them well and live a good life with Fengying.

If you don't agree, Fengying and I will move out.

Aunt Wang swallowed her objections; she only had this one son, and she would have to rely on him to support her in her old age.

Wang Tiesheng went up and carried his wife down. Wang's daughter-in-law, Li Fengying, saw that her husband had agreed and her mother-in-law had also agreed not to send her daughter away.

She only let Wang Tiesheng carry her down, and after she got down, she hugged the man and cried loudly.

She wanted to cry out all her grievances, and she couldn't bear to part with this man.

He is a hardworking and diligent person, but he is too filial and always listens to his mother-in-law.

After this farce, Aunt Wang stormed home.

Li Mingyue then asked Wang Weiguo to call the doctor, saying that her stomach was starting to hurt.

The doctor came to examine the patient, accompanied by an elderly doctor with a full head of white hair.

Yan Ci smiled and stepped forward, calling out, "Grandma Liu!"

The old doctor simply nodded.

Bai Xiaoyue was puzzled; when had Yan Ci ever been so kind and gentle to anyone?

Seeing her confusion, Yan Ci whispered in her ear:

"This is the doctor who saved my eldest cousin's wife."

This old doctor looks very reliable and trustworthy.

Bai Xiaoyue thought to herself that she was really lucky. With this old doctor around, Yan Ci didn't have to worry so much.

Li Mingyue went into the delivery room at noon and hadn't come out by dark, so Wang Weiguo brought her dinner and ate with her.

The old doctor said the mother was well cared for, the baby was a bit big, the fetal position was normal, and after eating and pushing a little more, there would be no problem.

Yan Ci helped Bai Xiaoyue walk back and forth in the corridor, while Wang Weiguo stood motionless, his eyes red and staring intently at the door of the delivery room.

Li Mingyue screamed in pain until after midnight before she heard the baby crying.

She gave birth to a big, healthy girl weighing seven pounds and six ounces. Looking at the mother and daughter, Wang Weiguo held his wife's hand and said:

"Honey, you've worked so hard. We won't have any more children."

The next day, Bai Xiaoyue looked at Li Mingyue's daughter, who was sleeping with her eyes half-closed. She was chubby and very well-behaved, and she wanted to hold her little hand.

She had just bent down when she froze, immediately reaching out to pull Yan Ci closer, her face flushed as she whispered in his ear:

"Aci, I think I wet my pants."

Yan Ci was surprised, but he didn't show it on his face. He helped his wife sit down, drew the curtain, and found some pants for her to change into.

He then said slowly and deliberately:

"Honey, don't panic, I'll go ask the doctor."

As soon as Yan Ci stepped out the door, he ran to the doctor's office.

Seeing that the old doctor was also there, he felt a little more at ease and hurriedly told the attending physician about his wife's condition.

The old doctor found it amusing:

"What are you panicking about? Your wife is about to give birth."

Yan Ci frowned and quickly said, "But she said her stomach doesn't hurt at all."
