Qin Lei continued to talk about their experience as a couple.
At first, they received information that the enemy had obtained the documents and fled to the Bear Country. After chasing them to the Bear Country for more than a year, they found that the group had been staying there without making any movement, and confirmed that the information was not in their hands.
Coincidentally, a colleague in the United States sent a message suggesting the documents might be there, so the two of them rushed to the United States. After six months of investigation, they confirmed the documents were there. Just as they were about to seize the information, they learned that they had transferred the documents back to Hong Kong City, so we tracked them all the way here. For the past few years, to protect our identities, the organization issued documents to our unit and hometown stating that the couple had died.
Qin Chengrui was silent for a moment, then said, "We'll talk about this after we return to the capital and report our mission to the organization. I believe the higher authorities will need to conduct a thorough investigation into your experiences over the past three years. Once the investigation is thorough and your identities and experiences are confirmed, and the documents are issued, you will be free to move around. However, you must trust the organization."
Qin Lei and Yao Ya'an said, "We are mentally prepared for this. We have been in constant contact with our superiors, and they should be able to write the certification materials for us."
Qin Chengrui said, "That's good. The only thing I'm afraid of is that the higher-level organizations are paralyzed and there's no one left to testify for you."
As Qin Chengrui expected, a group of people arrived shortly after and searched every room. If you didn't have identification, you would be arrested. Even if you had identification, you would be searched and your luggage would be checked. When they searched Qin Chengrui's room and found Qin Lei and Yao Ya'an, they asked, "You two don't live here? What are you doing here? Come on, arrest them."
Qin Lei quickly said, "We're staying at the Mariana Hotel. This is our uncle. We met by chance on the street. Come over and chat about family matters."
The policeman's expression became more serious, and he said in a tough and fierce tone, "Show us your ID and the proof that you are staying at the Mariana Hotel."
Yao Ya'an calmly took out her accommodation certificate from her handbag and handed it to the police. The police looked at it and said nothing. Then they waved to the police officers under them and turned away. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Qin Chengrui asked Qin Lei and Yao Ya'an, "Are you two coming with us?"
"Let's go together and handle the formalities now." The couple said and turned to leave.
At dusk the next day, Qin Chengrui, holding Ke'er's hand, followed by Qin Lei and Yao Ya'an, set foot on the land of the motherland. At this moment, Ke'er felt inexplicably at ease, inexplicably excited, and inexplicably felt that she was home. She let go of Qin Zirui's hand and walked ahead.
Ke'er was wearing his underwear today, a black and white checkered dress, and a bright red hooded windbreaker. She was also wearing black leather shoes and a black sunhat. Yao Ya'an had bought her a small, round red leather bag with a gold button on it. With a push, the lid snapped open, allowing her to put handkerchiefs and other little girl's gadgets inside. Ke'er loved it.
As they were discussing where to stay, a car horn blared. Liu Gang quickly ran over and said, "Captain Qin, a special car is here to pick us up." He then said to Qin Lei, "You guys can come too."
Then the four of them walked to the front of the black car. Qin Chengrui nodded to the driver and got in.
Liu Gang said, "Captain Qin, I'm in the car behind."
The car drove out of the port and headed towards the capital.
The car kept going all the way, day or night, except for two changes of drivers. We ate in the car and didn't get off, but went into a small restaurant.
Qin Chengrui was worried that Ke'er would not be used to the food and would be tired, but Ke'er said, "Uncle, it's okay, I can hold on."
Everyone burst into laughter at his small stature but big tone.
Qin Chengrui said, "Well, you are worthy of being a descendant of the Qin family. You have endurance and perseverance. Keep it up, we will be there soon."
When they arrived in Beijing, the car took them directly to the gate of a large courtyard. The courtyard was guarded by soldiers. Liu Gang ran to the gate guard, took out the documents, and after a few words, he was allowed to pass.
They drove into the compound and stopped in front of a three-story red brick building.
A dozen guards came out and stood at the door. They saluted Qin Chengrui after he got out of the car. Qin Chengrui turned to Qin Lei and said, "You want to come in with me?"
Qin Lei said, "Yes, it just so happens that we also need to go in and report."
Qin Chengrui said to Ke'er, "Ke'er, give me the information, and also give him your uncle's information."
During her overnight stay in Hong Kong, Ke'er had already opened container number 33. The moment she opened the container, she nearly burst into laughter, jumping and dancing in space. Container number 33 contained everything Ke'er loved, especially the large, glittering gold bars. The gold bars were packed in boxes, eight in total. The rest were antiques, calligraphy, and paintings, all packed in boxes. Ke'er was incredibly happy.
Ke'er opened the small black box, took out the information, and handed it to Qin Lei. Qin Lei took a look and found that it was indeed the documents they had been searching for for three years. Gently stroking the stack of documents, he said with tears in his eyes, "We have finally returned to our motherland."
Qin Chengrui said to Qin Lei, "Let Ke'er keep it."
Qin Lei didn't know what opportunities Ke'er had, but he understood that it was Ke'er's ability to come up with this information, so he handed it to Ke'er with confidence.
But now he got into the car and pretended to take two documents from a briefcase, giving one to Qin Chengrui and one to Qin Lei. The soldiers standing by were all stunned. Such important information, actually given to a five-year-old child, was incomprehensible.
