Jianshu was sitting in the living room knitting a sweater. From time to time, she would look up at Tiedan who was squatting at the door with a longing look in his eyes, and occasionally call him over for tea and snacks.
Tiedan was also obedient and didn't cause her too much worry.
The sun gradually rose higher, and as it was approaching noon, Jianshu put down the wool in his hand, stood up and walked towards the door.
"Tiedan, are you hungry? Come on, help your sister cook." She reached out and patted his head and greeted him.
Tiedan dusted off his hands, stood up obediently and followed Jianshu into the kitchen.
"Beautiful sister, let me help you wash the vegetables!"
"Thank you Tiedan. Then help your sister wash two potatoes and put them there. I will cut them later." Jianshu didn't bother to be polite and assigned him an easy task.
"Okay." Tiedan took the potatoes from Jianshu and squatted at the door to wash them in a basin.
Jianshu took a quick look to make sure there was no problem on his side, and then started to get busy.
Eating only braised pork with dried squid for lunch would have been a bit too greasy. Gu Mingjing had also bought a piece of tofu that morning, so Jianshu decided to make braised tofu. After a moment's thought, she worried there wouldn't be enough food, so she added some stir-fried shredded potatoes.
The braised pork with dried squid needed a little longer to simmer, so Jianshu put it on the stove to simmer. Then he washed some fruit and squatted in the kitchen with Tiedan, eating while they waited.
Thinking that the stew was almost done and Gu Mingjing should be back soon, I started to stir-fry the remaining two dishes.
The timing was perfect. Gu Mingjing arrived home just as the dishes were served.
"Hello, Uncle Gu." Tiedan stood in the living room a little stiffly and greeted him politely.
Gu Mingjing unbuttoned his clothes, took off his coat, and looked over when he heard the voice. "Tiedan is here. There are snacks on the table. Help yourself."
He always has a little more affection for this child who can keep Jianshu company and relieve his boredom.

Jianshu came out with food in his hand, "You're back, come and eat. Tiedan, it's time to eat!"
"I'll go wash my hands first." Gu Mingjing threw his coat on the sofa, rolled up his sleeves and walked towards the kitchen.
When he came out after washing his hands, Jianshu and Tiedan were already at the table.
Jianshu was worried that Tiedan would feel embarrassed, so she used chopsticks to pick up some food for him. "Tiedan, come here and try your sister's cooking. Eat and drink when you should, and don't be shy. Otherwise, if you get too hungry and thin, I won't be able to explain to your mother when she comes back."
"Thank you, beautiful sister. I can eat it by myself." Tiedan's face turned a little red.
"Then just pick up whatever you want to eat and order whatever you want, just like at home." Jianshu pushed the dishes towards him.
Gu Mingjing listened to the conversation between the two and casually asked, "Where is Sister Zhao? When I came back, I ran into Captain Zhao and he was running out in a hurry. I didn't hear him say hello."
"Yaya complained of stomachache, so Sister Xiufang took her to the hospital. Captain Zhao must have also rushed to the hospital after hearing the news." Jianshu was a little worried when he mentioned this.

Gu Mingjing suddenly realized why Tiedan was at their house today. It wasn't that Tiedan rarely came over, but rather that he would play and go home long before dinner time. There were a few times when they played late, and Jianshu asked him to stay for dinner, but he refused.
Then he became concerned, "Is the child okay? Is it serious?"
"I don't know yet. There's been no news since Sister Xiufang passed away." Jian Shu shook his head. He glanced at Tiedan's absent-minded look and consoled him, "I think it's nothing serious. He's probably still being examined. Maybe he'll be back this afternoon."
No matter what, you can't scare yourself first. Although this child is sensible, he is still a child after all. It's not good to scare him.
Gu Mingjing also understood what she meant and echoed, "It shouldn't be anything, otherwise Captain Zhao wouldn't have waited until the end of the shift to leave in such a hurry."
With Jianshu feeding him, Tiedan was absent-minded but still ate his fill.
After dinner, Gu Mingjing washed the dishes, rested for a while and then went back to work, while Jianshu took Tiedan for a nap.
Tiedan was full of energy and didn't want to sleep. He wanted to continue waiting at the door for his mother and sister to come back, but Jianshu tricked him into taking a nap together using the excuse that he was afraid of sleeping alone.
"Tiedan, sleeping time goes by so fast. Maybe when you wake up, your mother and sister will be back!"
"Really?" Tiedan became more interested when this was mentioned.
"Yes, think about it, when you are sleeping, don't you feel that time goes by very quickly from time to time? When you are squatting at the door waiting in the morning, don't you feel that time goes by very slowly from time to time?" Jianshu presented facts and reasoned with him.
Tiedan thought about it and realized that every night when he closed his eyes, it was already daybreak when he opened them again. But in the morning when he squatted there, time passed so slowly.
"Then I want to sleep! I'll sleep until my mom comes to pick me up!" This time, he was no longer reluctant and couldn't wait to take a nap.
"That's right. Let's go take a nap!" Jianshu nodded with satisfaction.
Finally, I managed to coax the child into submission.
Ever since Wu Xiufang passed away, the child has been on edge. This is not good. A nap is a good time to relax and feel better.
As for whether Wu Xiufang would be able to return home after waking up, Jianshu wasn't sure. It would be best if she could, as that would put everyone at ease. If she couldn't, he could just squat at the door.
Jianshu got up early in the morning and slept for two hours. When she woke up, Tiedan was no longer in the room.
She was startled and got up to look outside. "Tiedan! Tiedan! Are you home?"
Fortunately, a response soon came from outside the door, "Beautiful sister, I'm here!"
Jianshu pushed open the door and walked out, and saw Tiedan squatting in the old place again. He picked up a stick in his hand and gestured on the ground, glancing outside from time to time.
"Tiedan, when did you wake up?" Jianshu breathed a sigh of relief, scratched his hair with his hand and asked.
"I've been awake for a long time. Seeing that you were still sleeping, I didn't call you and came out alone." Children don't sleep much, and Tiedan won after sleeping for forty minutes. Worried about disturbing Jianshu in the room, he quietly ran out.
Jian Shu squatted beside him and reached out to pinch his leg. "Are you tired of squatting? There are chairs in the living room. Bring one out so you can sit and wait more comfortably."
Tiedan shook his head and said, "No need. If you get tired of squatting, just stand up and walk around." He couldn't sit still at all.
"Okay, if you're tired, come in and have a rest, drink some tea and have some snacks before continuing to wait." Jian Shu sighed, and finally didn't say anything more.
