"Naruko!"
Inside the train station, Ding Minggang had just managed to carry several snakeskin bags of luggage off the train with the help of the station staff. The scene was so spectacular that it attracted the attention of other people. Even though he was thick-skinned enough, he couldn't stand it anymore.
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from not far away. He looked up and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw who it was.
He threw the snakeskin bag on the ground, waved his hand, and shouted, "Old Tan, over here! Come over here and help!"
"What happened? You were so unclear on the phone that I thought something big had happened. I rushed here early to wait, afraid that I would miss the time." Old Tan ran over through the crowd and asked anxiously.
He received a call from Ding Ming early yesterday morning. He told him the time and train number, and then said a few words in a hurry before hanging up the phone. He thought something big had happened, and his heart was hanging in his throat. He rushed over without even having time to eat lunch.
"Huh..." Ding Ming breathed a sigh of relief. "I was in a hurry to catch the train, so I didn't have time to tell you much. As for why I asked you to come, you'll know when you see me."
Old Tan looked in the direction he pointed and saw several large bags on the ground. It wasn't that the bags were so small and inconspicuous, but he hadn't noticed them before and thought they belonged to someone else. After all, this was a train station, and the last thing they needed was luggage.
But I didn’t expect that so many things actually belonged to Ding Ming.
"If I remember correctly, you're on a business trip, right? Where did all these things come from? You're not a buyer, are you?" Old Tan asked, his face full of confusion, wondering if he'd remembered correctly. Could it be that Ding Ming had changed jobs without him knowing?
Looking at the large bags on the ground, he knew exactly why Ding Ming had asked him to come pick them up. Wasn't it just to be a porter?
I reached out curiously to pick up the bag, but it didn't move at all.
He didn't believe it and tried harder, but still couldn't lift it.
Wow! Is it so heavy?
"Have you installed any bricks in the past few years?" Old Tan asked sincerely.
Ding Ming: “…”
"Don't say that. Wasn't I on a business trip this time? It's not far from where Brother Gu and his family are, and things went smoothly. So I went to see Brother Gu and my sister-in-law and stayed at home for a few days. Except for that small bag which is my luggage, all the other things were prepared by my sister-in-law. She asked me to bring them back so we can share them and have them all." He explained helplessly.
Old Tan looked at the large bags on the ground and gained a new appreciation for his brother-in-law's generosity. He couldn't help but exclaim, "This is too much, isn't it? If you brought them all back, how would they survive?"
"Isn't that too much? I wanted to refuse, but my sister-in-law kept saying it was for the children or for my wife, and I couldn't refuse at all. As for Brother Gu, let alone him, he just cheered behind his wife no matter what she did, and it was impossible to stop her." Ding Ming's words were full of helplessness.
"Okay, let's go quickly. I'm almost starving!" At this time, his stomach suddenly growled.
At noon, he just ate the remaining buns. With his appetite, he was only half full at best, and he was already starving by now.
"The two of us can't move so many things. Besides, how are we going to transport them back? I came here on a bicycle, and I can't carry so many things." Old Tan looked at the things on the ground and couldn't help but have the same feeling as Ding Ming the day before yesterday - a headache.
Ding Ming sighed, "Forget it, I'll go borrow a car. You wait here for me and take care of the luggage. I'll be back soon." It was also his fault that he forgot to remind him yesterday.
With so many things, a bicycle definitely cannot carry them back, and taking the bus is not practical either. I have to change buses to get to his house, and it is troublesome to get on and off.
"Okay, but let's move our things out first. It's inconvenient for people to come and go here, so don't block the way."
The two of them moved all the luggage to a tree not far away, and then Ding Ming trotted away in one direction.
Old Tan waited there for more than half an hour, and then Ding Ming drove back.
Together they loaded all the stuff onto the car, and finally put the bicycle that Lao Tan had ridden over. It was a bit tight, so they could only squeeze most of it in, with the front of the bicycle sticking out, raised high.
After a long time of trouble, it was already dark when we arrived at Ding Ming's house.
Pan Ning, who had just returned home from get off work, was holding her daughter in the living room, looking forward to seeing her. A few days ago, Ding Ming had sent her a telegram saying that he would arrive today.
Hearing the noise coming from outside, he walked out holding his daughter.
"Are you back? Why did you drive back?" After greeting the two of them, she looked at the car in front of her with some confusion.
Can't you just take the bus? Why is it so ostentatious?
"Don't mention it, you'll know soon." Ding Ming missed his wife and daughter terribly, having not seen them for so long. However, he had just gotten off the train and was dusty and couldn't get close to them. He could only ask Lao Tan to help him move the luggage.
First they took down the bicycle, then a few snakeskin bags. After several trips back and forth, the living room floor was soon filled with luggage.
Pan Ning finally understood what he meant.
With so much stuff, no wonder you need to drive.
It was getting late, so after delivering the things, Lao Tan said goodbye and left.
"Stay for dinner before leaving?" Ding Ming invited.
Old Tan waved his hand and said, "No, your sister-in-law is still waiting for me to go back home for dinner. Let's do it next time. Forget it today."
"Okay, in that case, I won't keep you here. I'll come to your house in a couple of days. Remember to prepare some wine and good food!" Given the relationship between them, there was no need to say those polite words.
"Come on, bring your sister-in-law and niece along. Your sister-in-law was still talking about them at home a few days ago."
"must!"
After the two made an appointment, Lao Tan rode his bike away into the night.
Soon, only Ding Ming and his family of three were left at home.
They no longer live in the Ding family's home. Not long ago, the Ding family split up, and Ding Ming took the opportunity to move out with his wife and children. They found a house not far from the department store, which became their home.
Several of his brothers who had received houses also moved out with their wives and children, but they would bring their children back to visit their parents during the weekly holidays.
Maybe it's true that things smell better when they're far away, and now that they're far away, the relationship between brothers and sisters-in-law is better.
The little frictions from the past are gone. When we get together, we talk and laugh, and we don’t fuss about everything like before.
For Ding Ming and Pan Ning, although it was a bit unfilial, their current life was indeed more to their liking.
They prefer their own small family to a big family.
