The sky is clear and the weather is sunny.
Jianshu got up early in the morning, made some chicken soup first, and then urged Gu Mingjing to go and pick someone up.
Gu Mingjing, who had just gotten up and hadn't even had breakfast yet, sighed, "Shushu, it's only seven o'clock now. Brother Tianlei's train won't arrive until ten o'clock. If I go too early, I won't be able to pick him up."
"What if? Maybe the weather is good today and the train will arrive early? Besides, won't it take time to get there? Don't you understand that it's better to arrive early than late?" Jianshu argued.
Gu Mingjing: "...then you have to let me finish breakfast first."
"Oh." Her man Jian Shu still felt sorry for him and didn't let him go out with an empty stomach. "Then eat quickly. I'll get you whatever you want."
As soon as she got up, she was busy preparing lunch and didn't make breakfast at all.
"Let's just have buns." This one's quick.
Gu Mingjing finished his breakfast by eating a steamed bun in a few bites, drank the soy milk in one gulp, and then left the house under Jianshu's urging gaze.
Jianshu was left alone at home preparing food and looking forward to it.
Normally a day goes by in a flash, but today, half a day went by so slowly.
“Shushu!”
Hearing the familiar yet unfamiliar voice, Jianshu put down the dishes in her hand and ran out without even bothering to take off her apron.
As soon as she arrived in the living room, she bumped into the man who had just entered the room.
"Brother Tianlei?" Jianshu asked hesitantly.
I feel homesick when I'm close to home. It's been almost two years since we last saw each other. The last time we met was at her wedding.
From then on, the brother and sister were separated and never met again.
Although she has loved ones to accompany her and has made new friends in the family compound, she still misses her old friends very much.
It was fine normally, but now when they met, she couldn't help herself.
Zhao Tianlei was still gazing at his sister, whom he hadn't seen for a long time. Her complexion was rosy, and it seemed that she hadn't suffered any injustice here. Just as he felt relieved, he saw that her eyes were red.
Suddenly, he was anxious and didn't care about anything else. He quickly dropped the things in his hands, went forward to hug her, and patted her back gently like when they were little, coaxing her, "Brother is here! Tell me if you have anything. Did that brat Gu Mingjing bully you? It's okay, I'm here, I'll help you teach him a lesson."
Gu Mingjing, who followed in with bags in his hands, looked up blankly: "..." A big pot fell from the sky.
I couldn't help but look back at the sky outside to see if it was snowing.
Fortunately, Jianshu quickly controlled his emotions, chuckled and explained, "I'm fine, I just missed you after not seeing you for a long time."
Zhao Tianlei then realized that he had misjudged Ming Jing. He let go of him embarrassedly and scratched his head. "Is that so? I wronged Ming Jing. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Brother Tianlei, you're just worried." Gu Mingjing could understand. After all, if a girl you haven't seen for a long time starts crying as soon as they meet, anyone would think she has been wronged.
Moreover, in Gu Mingjing's opinion, Jianshu was indeed wronged for giving up her job, leaving her family and friends and coming to this remote place with him.
"Let's not talk about this anymore, Shushu. I brought you a lot of things, I'm sure you'll like them." Zhao Tianlei didn't say anything more about this. He was too tired of being polite, so he changed the subject.
"Then you two brothers and sisters can chat first. I'll go cook." Gu Mingjing consciously gave the two space to reminisce about the past. After putting down the luggage in his hand, he walked towards the kitchen.
The brother and sister sat on the sofa, rummaging through the luggage Zhao Tianlei had brought. Glancing at Gu Mingjing who was busy in the kitchen, he whispered, "Is it Mingjing who usually cooks at home?"
Jianshu was looking for treasure, and when he heard it, he didn't even raise his head and replied: "Not necessarily. She does it when she's free, and I do it when I'm busy. We often do it together." Sometimes, both of them want to be lazy and just eat the ready-made food.
Just last winter, more than half of the prepared meals in her space were gone.
"That's not bad." Zhao Tianlei nodded, very satisfied with his brother-in-law's performance.
He had grown up with his father helping his mother cook, something he'd grown accustomed to. He didn't realize it wasn't the norm in every household until he grew up. He couldn't control other people's cooking, but he didn't want his sister to marry a man who sat around doing nothing all day and acted like a boss.
Although the two siblings hadn't seen each other for a long time, they had a long-standing emotional foundation and didn't need to adapt. They became familiar with each other after just a few words.
Talk about each other's lives and share interesting childhood stories.
Jianshu told him about her new friends, her next-door neighbor Tiedan, interesting things she experienced at the market, and a lot more...
Zhao Tianlei gradually felt relieved. It seemed that Shushu was living well here.
At the same time, I developed a liking for Wu Xiufang and Tiedan, who appeared frequently in Jianshu's mouth. In a new place, having a friend you can talk to is the key to integrating into the new place.
The brother and sister were talking excitedly when they were interrupted by Gu Mingjing's voice:
"Shushu, Brother Tianlei, it's time to eat!"
Jian Shu changed the subject, "Brother, let's go eat quickly. You must not have eaten well during the car ride these past few days. You must eat more later. I prepared all the dishes today especially for you. The chicken soup was stewed early in the morning and it's so delicious!"
"Okay, I will definitely drink two more bowls later. The soup stewed by my sister must be delicious!" Zhao Tianlei was very supportive and almost clapped like a seal.
"Of course, my skills are good!" Jianshu was not modest at all and raised his chin proudly.
There was no shortage of food at home, and today's meal was almost as luxurious as the New Year's Eve dinner. Not only did Jianshu get up early in the morning to cook chicken soup, but the remaining dishes also contained meat.
Zhao Tianlei couldn't help swallowing his saliva when he saw this. "Are you guys going to celebrate today or not? You prepared so much meat, are you planning to eat vegetarian meals for the next month?"
The last time I saw so much meat was when I went home for the Chinese New Year.
