Chapter 753: Birth

Jianshu here didn’t know that a surprise was about to come.

After waking up, I casually tied my hair into a bun, and walked out of the room yawning with tiredness.

I was stunned for a moment when I saw the unfamiliar environment, and then I heard Zhao Yueling's call.

"Sister, are you awake?"

Jianshu looked in the direction of the sound and saw Zhao Yueling plucking chicken feathers in the yard.

Oh, I remember now, they are no longer in the staff housing compound, but have come to the city.

"Look at me, I was so sleepy that I thought I was at home!" Jianshu couldn't help but slap his forehead.

Zhao Yueling couldn't help but smile, "It's better to rest a little longer. I didn't sleep well last night. I'm not used to the new place."

"Why don't you sleep a little longer in the morning?"

"I couldn't sleep, and it was boring just lying in bed, so I got up." Zhao Yueling explained, then continued, "Sister, I left porridge and buns on the table for you. Go eat some first. Mom went to buy groceries and said she would make chicken soup for you at noon."

Jian Shu glanced at the chicken in her hand. Although most of its feathers had been plucked, he could still recognize it as the chicken he had raised at home. He was a little puzzled, "Didn't you say yesterday that you would raise it for two days? Why are you killing it today?"

I only brought two chickens with me. I stewed one yesterday and killed the remaining one this morning. In total, it survived less than a day.

"I can't keep it alive, and I'm afraid the neighbors will come looking for it. So I decided to just kill it and eat it. I have several more at home anyway. I can just ask my brother-in-law to bring it over when the time comes." Zhao Yueling explained the reason and added, "Plucking chicken feathers has a strong smell. Go eat something first, so the fumes don't put you off."

"Okay, then I'll go eat. Have you guys eaten yet?" Jianshu nodded. The smell was indeed unpleasant.

"Eat it, and the rest is all yours. You don't have to leave any for us."

Jianshu wandered into the house again. When he was halfway through breakfast, Meng Ying came in carrying some things.

"Are you up? Don't eat too many buns. I finally made some chicken soup for you."

"I see. Auntie, what did you buy so early in the morning?" Jian Shu responded, looking at the things in her hand curiously.

"I bought some vegetables and two fish. I'll put them in a basin and cook fish for you in the next few days." Meng Ying showed her and then went to the kitchen.

Jianshu finished the remaining porridge in a few mouthfuls, then followed with the bowl.

"Aunt, do you have enough bills? I'll ask Mingjing to exchange some more."

Ever since Meng Ying arrived, she'd been responsible for all the grocery shopping. Jian Shu offered her money, but she refused to take it. In the end, she only accepted the receipts, which she used to cover her grocery expenses.

But there was nothing they could do. The phrase "spend money on your own girl" silenced all their words.

"No, it's enough for now. We can't use up any more." Meng Ying refused.

"Then remember to tell us if you have it gone." Jian Shu nodded and did not continue to dwell on this issue.

After drinking chicken soup at noon, Jianshu walked around in the yard to help digest the food.

The weather hadn't been very good the past couple of days; it was overcast and sunless. Without her sewing machine, Meng Ying had some free time, and the family sat in the yard chatting.

"I don't know when this baby will be born, but please come out soon. I've been carrying this big belly for months and I almost don't know what it feels like to walk normally."

"It will be over soon, just in a few days. Please bear with it for a while, sister." Zhao Yueling comforted.

Looking at her sister, she felt so tired. Giving birth was really too painful.

When it comes to things like having children, outsiders can't help and can only offer verbal comfort, which is better than nothing.

After much anticipation, Jianshu finally waited for the day of unloading.

It was a rare sunny day, but as usual, there was nothing happening.

I washed my hair in the morning and then repeated the boring routine of the past few days.

But when she woke up from her afternoon nap, she felt a distinct feeling of falling, which was completely different from the usual fetal movement.

I was a little panicked and shouted a few times, "Auntie, Auntie!"

A response came soon, "What's wrong? What happened?" Meng Ying rushed in. The whole family has been in a state of nervousness these days, and they would react immediately to any movement.

"I, I think I'm about to give birth?" Jian Shu didn't understand whether she was about to give birth. After all, it was her first time and she had no experience, so she looked at Meng Ying for help.

"She's about to give birth? Hurry, Lingling, get your things, pull the cart out, and let's take your sister to the hospital!" Meng Ying was surprised for a second, then immediately reacted, pushed Zhao Yueling who was still stunned behind her, and rushed to the bedside.

"Oh, okay, I'll go right away!" Zhao Yueling reacted and ran out immediately. She first dragged the cart out from the corner, and then quickly ran into the house to take out the delivery bag that had been packed in advance and put it on the cart.

Then they brought out a quilt and placed it on the cart to reduce the shaking.

"Come on, get up slowly. Don't be afraid. Your aunt is here with you. Relax." Worried that she would be scared, Meng Ying patted her back to comfort her while dressing her.

Jianshu took a deep breath, calming her heartbeat. "I'm not afraid." Who wouldn't be afraid? Giving birth is a big deal. Although I haven't experienced it myself, I've heard about it from others.

But no matter how scared I am, the baby is already in my belly, so why not give birth to it?

Looking at her slightly trembling hands, Meng Ying knew that this child was trying to comfort her and not want her to worry. She felt even more pity in her heart.

After making sure everyone was dressed properly, he helped the person out slowly, "Let's go to the hospital. Everything will be fine once we get there."

When they reached the yard, Zhao Yueling hurried forward and together with Meng Ying helped Jianshu onto the cart and covered her with another quilt.

The hospital was close, so with one person pushing the car while the other held it on the side, they arrived at the hospital in less than five minutes.

Once they arrived at the hospital, they felt relieved, and soon doctors and nurses came to take over.

Jianshu had just started labor and there was still some time before she gave birth, so the doctor asked her to get out of bed and walk around first.

While braiding her hair according to Jian Shu's instructions, Meng Ying said to Zhao Yueling, "Lingling, return the cart first, then ride your bike to call your brother-in-law and tell him to come quickly. Don't rush over after he calls. Go back and cook some noodles. Remember to put two eggs in them and bring them over when they're done."

Zhao Yueling wrote down the items one by one: cart, phone call, noodles with eggs. "Okay, I'll be back soon."

After saying that, he ran out in a hurry, fearing that he would be a step slower.

Jianshu sat on the chair and let Meng Ying braid her hair obediently. She had to be thankful that she had just washed her hair this morning.
