Chapter 135 Shi Yuhe

Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin hid in a garbage dump and watched a few thugs run past. Just as they were about to stick their heads out, they heard footsteps coming back.

"Pussies, two mainlanders, go to the left?"

Su Qiaoan and Xiao Huimin didn't even dare to breathe when they heard the sound.

The things they bought last night and the souvenirs they were going to give to their friends had long been thrown away somewhere.

The two had been hiding for a whole night, and now it was almost noon. They were already starving, but they didn't dare to stop and could only keep dodging these thugs. If they were caught, they would definitely not have a good ending.

They didn't know where the two had come to, but they felt that this place was even poorer and more miserable than what they had seen in the inland. There were no houses, only low shacks built out of shacks. How could people live in such a place?

They don’t know how such a poor place could exist in the prosperous Hong Kong. It’s like a place clearly divided between poverty and wealth. The two places are obviously not far apart, but they seem like two separated worlds.

The two hooligans walked away while talking, but Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin still didn't dare to come out.

They lay in the garbage dump, which was full of bugs, cockroaches, and green-headed flies buzzing around or resting on the rotten things. It smelled terrible, and they could only lie there, not daring to move.

When they could no longer hear any sound and no one came over, the two of them slowly stuck their heads out and looked around.

Xiao Huimin said to Su Anqiao, "No one else should be coming. Let's go out and take a look."

Su Qiaoan nodded and said, "It's so scary. I never thought it would be so chaotic here."

The two men looked at each other and saw that the other was in a miserable state. They didn't know what happened to the two people who protected them.

Xiao Huimin said, "We need to find someone to find out where this place is. Then we need to find our way back to the office. We can't continue like this."

As the two of them walked over, all they saw were shacks made of plastic sheets.

There was a shack with an old woman sitting next to it. Su Anqiao went up to the old woman and asked, "Grandma, what is this place? Do you know where the mainland office in Hong Kong is?"

My mother-in-law is a Hong Kong native and doesn't understand Mandarin at all. She waved her hand at them and said, "I don't understand what you are saying?" (I don't understand what you are saying?)

Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin looked at each other helplessly. They also felt helpless about the current situation. They couldn't even communicate. What should they do?

When they wanted to ask someone else, they heard footsteps and voices in the distance, so they quickly went into a shed.

The two heard the thug ask the old woman, "Grandma, did you see those two mainland Chinese people, a boy and a girl?"

They spoke Hong Kong dialect, which Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin could not understand.

The two listened to the footsteps of the gangsters going away. It seemed that the mother-in-law did not tell them that they were hiding in this shack.

Just when they didn't know whether to continue hiding in the shack or go out to ask someone for directions, the shack cloth was lifted and a man came in.

The man saw them acting subconsciously and asked, "Who are you and why are you in my shed?"

Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin were delighted to hear the familiar Mandarin spoken. They saw that the visitor was a man in his 30s.

Xiao Huimin happily asked the man, "Brother, are you from the mainland too?"

The man who came in was obviously not expecting to run into two mainlanders speaking Mandarin. He said, "I'm from the mainland. Where are you from? Why are you hiding in my shed?"

Xiao Huimin told him, "We are from the mainland and came to Hong Kong on business. Yesterday, when a few of us were out shopping, we were robbed by gangsters and then separated. So the two of us hid here.

We have two other companions, and we still don't know where they are. We've only been here a few days and don't know the way back to the office. Coming to Hong Kong, we don't speak Cantonese, so we can't even communicate at the most basic level. So, thankfully, we've met you, Big Brother.

Xiao Huimin was so happy that he just wanted to give the man a hug. He finally met a fellow villager.

Who knew that when the man opposite heard that they were from the mainland on business, his face suddenly changed and he said, "I don't know anything. Get out of here right now."

Su Anqiao and Xiao Huimin both found his temper inexplicable. They had been fine just now, hadn't they? Why was he suddenly trying to kick them out? In Hong Kong, there's no such thing as meeting old friends in a foreign land. At least everyone was from mainland China, and isn't it said that when fellow countrymen meet, their eyes water. Why did he suddenly lose his temper?

The shacks here were all very low, making it impossible to stand up straight. They all spoke with their backs bent. While they were talking, the man pushed the two of them, trying to drive them out of the shack.

Xiao Huimin wanted to understand why the man wanted to chase them away. He held the man's hand and asked, "Brother, what's going on? Why are you suddenly chasing us away? If we go out now, we'll run into thugs, and the girl next to me will be kidnapped by them, brother."

"Brother, since we are all from the mainland, can't you help us? We don't want anything, we just want you to show us the way. We want to get back to the office, that's all."

But the man refused to explain why and insisted that they leave.

Su Anqiao looked at the man. Although he looked a bit slovenly and haggard, she still felt that he looked familiar. She couldn't remember where she had seen him before. Why did she feel that he looked familiar? Today should be their first meeting!

Su Anqiao pulled Xiao Huimin aside and said, "Xiao Zhiqing, does he look familiar? I always feel like he looks like someone."

After hearing what Su Anqiao said, Xiao Huimin carefully looked at the man in front of him. The more he looked at him, the more familiar he felt. Then he couldn't help but ask, "Brother, why do I feel like you look so familiar?"

The man's face became even uglier after hearing this, and he wanted to drive them away even more.

During the shove, Su Anqiao saw a small mole on the man's earlobe. She suddenly remembered that Grandpa Shi once told her that his son Shi Yuhe had a mole on his earlobe.

Su Qiaoan shouted happily: "Ah, I know who you are, you are Shi Yuhe, right?"

The man denied loudly: "No, I am not, I am not Shi Yuhe, I don't know you, get out of here quickly, leave my house, go, leave now."

Xiao Huimin, who was standing by, also remembered what Su Anqiao said. He said, "It was your father who asked us to come look for you. Is your father Shi Fuze? You are from Changyang County, and we are educated youth who went to the countryside from Changyang County."

We live with your father and your son. We are not the police who are here to arrest you. Besides, your family’s case has been overturned, and you are no longer a wanted criminal. Brother Shi, you don’t have to be afraid.”

After Su Anqiao heard what Xiao Huimin said, he suddenly realized that he had been trying to drive them away, thinking that they were police officers who came to arrest him.
