Chapter 36: Still 80,000

After leaving the air-raid shelter black market, Yang Zhaozhao and his friends were tired, so each of them rode a bicycle back to Grandma Cui.

Grandma Cui looked at the two tired-looking people and asked, "Would you like some porridge tonight? It's just been made. I'll bring it to you."

Yang Zhaozhao thanked her and went to wash her face. When she touched her skin, she felt it was a little rough. She realized that her face might have been hurt by the cold wind after being exposed to the wind and sun for the past two days.

Seeing that there was no one around, Yang Zhaozhao took out a bottle of Dabao from her space, rubbed it in her palm, and applied it on her face to moisturize it. Women all love beauty, and Yang Zhaozhao is no exception.

As she was rubbing her face, Xiao Cui looked up at her and said, "Sister, what are you applying, Tuxiang?"

Yang Zhaozhao pinched Xiao Cui's bark-like face and generously handed her a bottle of Dabao without any perfume: "Apply a little perfume after washing your face in the morning and evening to prevent your face from getting damaged by the wind."

Xiao Cui was delighted: "Can I put on perfume now?"

"Sure." Yang Zhaozhao washed Xiao Cui's little face. After drying it, the little girl waited expectantly for Yang Zhaozhao to apply perfume on her.

After applying it, she would wipe it and smile from time to time, then smell her hands: "It really smells good!"

Yang Zhaozhao smiled and touched her head. When they returned to the room, they found corn porridge on the table. Li Yiling said, "Eat first if you're hungry. I'll go pick two green onions."

Yang Zhaozhao didn't hesitate. She was so busy that she didn't even have time to drink water. Now she was hungry and thirsty, so she scooped up a mouthful and drank it. But before she could react, Li Yiling gasped in pain.

Yang Zhaozhao, holding the bowl, looked at Li Yiling who was sticking out his tongue, raised his eyebrows slightly, and took another sip of porridge without saying anything.

Li Yiling's tongue hurt. The burnt feeling made him look at Yang Zhaozhao with a deeper meaning. His gaze caught Yang Zhaozhao's attention: "What's wrong?"

Li Yiling didn't say anything, but strode over and first touched her bowl with his hand, which was very hot.

Then he stared at Yang Zhaozhao and said in a cold voice, "Open your mouth."

For some reason, when he stared at her like that, Yang Zhaozhao's brain froze for a moment and she opened her mouth obediently.

Li Yiling ordered again: "Stick out your tongue."

Yang Zhaozhao: “…”

"Let me see your tongue." Li Yiling looked at the person with her open mouth, as if he was going to take action if she didn't cooperate.

What could Yang Zhaozhao do? She could only stick out her tongue obediently and said in a thick voice, "Is this okay? What's so special about my tongue?"

As expected, just as Li Yiling guessed, her tongue was burned. There were scars on the tip and surface of her tongue, as well as blisters. "Yang Zhaozhao, can't you feel the temperature, or can't you feel the pain?"

Yang Zhaozhao: “?”

"Did you know that your tongue is blistered?" Li Yiling looked at the man with flickering eyes and knew that his guess was correct.

Yang Zhaozhao scratched his tongue and frowned slightly: "A little."

"What's going on?" Li Yiling swallowed his saliva. He felt that the action of scraping the tongue was so unbearable.

He turned his eyes away from Yang Zhaozhao. A thought just flashed through his mind. He actually wanted to taste her tongue.

Li Yiling felt like a scoundrel.

He actually had such dirty thoughts.

"I will be more careful next time." Yang Zhaozhao didn't want to say more. Of course she knew how to respond. It was her choice. She was surprised that Li Yiling actually found out.

Touching the boiling hot porridge, Yang Zhaozhao secretly warned himself to wait before eating it.

You can’t eat hot tofu in a hurry!

Don't think that just because you can't taste anything, you can stop treating your tongue as a tongue.

Seeing that Yang Zhaozhao didn't want to say more, Li Yiling clenched his fists. Not wanting to embarrass her, he went straight to the backyard to pick green onions.

She has secrets, and so does he.

Although Yang Zhaozhao had many secrets, they were no longer secrets to him.

After they had eaten and rested for a while, Yang Zhaozhao and Li Yiling agreed to go to the night market in the evening, and she wanted to go back to rest.

However, Li Yiling took out her money and pretended that he had brought it back from outside, for fear of exposing his own space. This was an unnecessary move, and the two of them did it many times afterwards.

After closing the door, Yang Zhaozhao and Li Yiling counted the money. It took them almost an hour to tie the money into bundles, some in ten-dollar and some in fifty-dollar denominations.

One, two, or more.

The woven bag is big enough to hold so much money.

Yang Zhaozhao felt that one dollar was too little, so he gave Grandma Cui five dollars, saying that it was to thank Grandma Cui for cooking and that the porridge was delicious.

As for Li Yiling, Yang Zhaozhao said, "The bike you're riding is yours as a reward for one day."

Li Yiling didn't bother to be polite with him and took the car keys and the five yuan that Yang Zhaozhao returned to him.

Before leaving, Yang Zhaozhao took a tray of eggs to Grandma Cui and said, "This is for Xiao Cui. She is too young. Give her a boiled egg every day to nourish her body."

"What...what does this mean?" Grandma Cui refused to accept it.

Yang Zhaozhao said, "Xiao Cui worked hard this morning. This is what she deserves. Grandma, don't be polite with me. I don't need these eggs."

Li Yiling also spoke up: "Grandma, please accept it. It's for Xiao Cui. She smiles more than her peers. She deserves some nourishment."

Only then did Grandma Cui feel at ease to accept it.

Maybe it was because of the porridge, but Yang Zhaozhao wanted to go to the toilet. Xiao Cui led her to a low toilet in the backyard.

As soon as Yang Zhaozhao entered, he heard a reminder from the material space: [A large vat from the Yongzheng period has been detected.]

Yang Zhaozhao's eyes widened in surprise: "Where?"

Supplies Space: [Please scan with a treasure hunting flashlight.]

Yang Zhaozhao just remembered that she still had this thing. She took out the treasure hunting flashlight, turned on the light and scanned it, and saw a large vat shape appear in the location of the cesspool.

Yang Zhaozhao: “…”

Not long after, Yang Zhaozhao came out with a strange look on his face, looking a little unhappy.

Xiao Cui said, "Did you see any insects? Grandma said don't be afraid, they don't want people."

Yang Zhaozhao wanted to say that what she saw was more disgusting than maggots. If she wanted to get that big vat, she would have to get all the feces out, which was so smelly. Yang Zhaozhao refused.

After resting for two hours in the guesthouse, Yang Zhaozhao was woken up. She washed her face to make herself more awake, and dragged her tired body to find Li Yiling.

Who knew that when she saw Li Yiling sitting on a chair in the hall, she was stunned for a moment: "Why are you here?"

Li Yiling glanced at the front desk and motioned for Yang Zhaozhao to go outside to talk. "I went to ask around, and they said the evening night market has been cancelled. They said there's a big move going on, so there won't be any stalls."

With a loud bang.

Yang Zhaozhao almost fell to his knees.

256 were sold in the morning and 478 in the afternoon, which adds up to 734. Multiplying by 160 per car, it comes to 117.44 million.

There are still 80,000 to 190,000.

Yang Zhaozhao was thinking about selling five thousand bicycles that night, which would just cover her debts.

Who knew Li Yiling actually said that the night market was cancelled.

How could Yang Zhaozhao not panic? She rode her bike to the air-raid shelter and said, "I want to go and see for myself."

Li Yiling did not stop him. Seeing that he was in such a hurry, he forgot to hide in front of him. A bicycle suddenly appeared beside him. If Li Yiling had not been prepared, he would have been scared.

What else can I say? I saw it with my own eyes and she really has space.

They rode their bikes to the air-raid shelter and happened to see the patrol team coming towards them, riding bicycles with flashlights strapped to their backs to light the way.

Seeing that they were wearing armbands, Yang Zhaozhao braked in time, turned a corner and ran away.

Li Yiling followed suit and the two of them ran towards the alley.

Behind him, the inspector shouted loudly: "Stop! What are you doing out here at night? Stop right there!"

No way!

Yang Zhaozhao pedaled very fast, fearing that he would be caught.

The two of them rushed around and played cat and mouse for a while before they were shaken off.

The two returned to the guesthouse, looking at each other, and Yang Zhaozhao's eyes were full of despair.

Li Yiling didn't know what to say for a moment. Looking at Yang Zhaozhao, who looked like an eggplant hit by frost, Li Yiling felt uneasy and said, "There's still tomorrow. The storm should have died down by tomorrow."

Yang Zhaozhao looked at the clock in the lobby of the guesthouse. The hour hand was almost pointing to twelve o'clock. There were still ten minutes left. The gap of 80,000 was not a small amount.

Yang Zhaozhao didn't want to talk. He dragged his tired body and said, "I'll go to the farm tomorrow. Thank you tomorrow."

Li Yiling frowned and looked at her nervously: "Are you still okay?"

Yang Zhaozhao smiled a smile that was uglier than crying: "I'm quite strong and will always be strong. I'm sleepy and want to go back and rest."

After saying that, without even looking at Li Yiling, she went upstairs. After returning, she watched the time on the alarm clock pass by minute by minute. Yang Zhaozhao washed her face for the last minute and lay on the bed waiting to die.

With two beeps, the time is up.
