Cheng Cheng immediately talked about the worst possible outcome. Her sister said that when arguing with someone, you must never let the other person lead you by the nose. Don't care what the other person says and don't answer. Once you start answering, the initiative belongs to the other person. You should express your own ideas and let the other person follow you.
When the others heard this, they thought about the consequences. Yes, if no one discovered it today, it would be too late when something happened, and several children would be in danger.
"Old man, your heart is too cruel, isn't it?"
"Yes, no matter what, they are still your grandson and granddaughter. How could you do this?"
"Have you lost all your conscience for the sake of money and the house?"
"You guys are too scary."
Everyone started to stand up for the children, thinking that the old man was becoming more and more confused.
The old man almost died of anger listening to all of them talking at once.
"I didn't mean that." He didn't mean that at all. He wanted to come over and let them make things smaller. "Cheng Cheng, you guys are all my grandchildren. We don't want to do anything to you.
Your grandma is also kind-hearted. She thought that since your sister is gone and there is no one to cook for you, she went over to cook for you."
As soon as he explained, Song Chengcheng immediately seized on his excuse, "I told you not to do that in the afternoon, but they came with oil to pour on the wall in the evening, and set the house on fire. If we hadn't discovered it in time, the house might have burned down, and the houses next to it might have been set on fire as well. If the wind had been stronger tonight, all the houses in the village would have been affected.
Grandpa, you're not the type to lie with your eyes open.
You used to say that if you made a mistake you should be brave enough to take responsibility, but now you are just talking nonsense with your eyes closed."
Song Chengcheng's few words put the old man in the spotlight again, and other people looked at him even more unfavorably.
That’s right. If the wind is stronger tonight and everyone doesn’t put out the fire, the nearby houses will be affected. They are all wooden houses, and there are many trees around. What if the wind blows and the whole village and the whole mountain are burned?
Now the villagers were also angry, and some even spoke angrily.
"Your family is really going too far, especially that old woman of yours. She gossips all day long, bullies a few children, and even wants to burn down the village."
"Let's go, take them to the police station quickly. We must make their family pay the price."
Everyone was not that angry at first, but when they heard that they wanted to burn down the entire village, it was like stirring up a hornet's nest. After all, sympathizing with a few children and potentially having their own interests harmed are two completely different concepts.
Song Feifei was watching Song Chengcheng remain calm and composed, leaving his grandfather speechless. He was really impressed. If he could applaud now, he would have clapped a few times.
With everyone's support, they were sent to the police station.
When the police station saw that people from their village had kidnapped two women, they were shocked. They were even more shocked after learning the whole story.
Everyone swore that their family wanted to burn down the entire village.
"Cheng Cheng's family lives at the end of the village. If the wind blows at night, the whole village will be burned down. If we hadn't discovered it in time, our village would have suffered tomorrow."
"That's right, they just want to kill people and set fire to things. They are not good people."
The old man wanted to explain, but among so many people's voices, his voice seemed insignificant.
The old lady and the aunt were caught red-handed. There was no chance for them to argue, and they were detained immediately.
The old man was still thinking about taking them back, but it was completely useless.
If they continue talking about this, I guess they will both be arrested and accused of being a family conspiracy.
In the end they stayed to take notes, and the villagers went back with torches.
The siblings were waiting at the police station to take their statements. Feifei and Chengcheng took turns holding their sister.
An hour later,
The old man's eldest son was useless. He could only squat on the ground and sigh, "Dad, what do you say we should do now?"
Now his mother and wife are still yelling in the police station, and are ready to cry, make a fuss, and even hang themselves, but this place is not their home, and no one will tolerate them.
"What can we do? We can only wait here. I'll go find Cheng Cheng later, and you go find your little brother."
Mr. Song’s youngest son is their pride. The eldest son Song has been working hard on the farm every month, the second son Song Youwei has been giving him pension money, and their daughter has been subsidizing her parents’ home from time to time, all for this youngest son.
Song Youcai found a girlfriend in the city after graduating from high school. She arranged a job for him as a worker. After they got married, they lived in the city and became city dwellers.
Even though she didn't take anything when she returned to her parents' home, the two old men were still very happy. She was a scholar, she didn't need to work or make any sacrifices, but she took advantage of everything.
"Yes, yes, I'm a scholar, I must have a way, I'll go right away."
After Boss Song left, the old man sat alone on the steps, smoking one cigarette after another. Finally, he put down his pipe, tapped it beside him, and then turned around to go in and look for Song Chengcheng.
The three of them made statements and were arranged to stay in the hotel next door. Someone stayed with them and they would be allowed to go back tomorrow.
When the old man heard about this arrangement, he kept waiting. When a young man brought Song Chengcheng and the others out, the old man quickly stood up.
