Chapter 144 My Brother Is Always There
"Thank you, Grandma Lu." Wen Sining's voice was choked with sobs.
Mrs. Lu smiled and reached out to wipe her tears. "Silly child, why are you crying? When you get married, remember to treat me to a wedding drink."
Wen Sining nodded vigorously, "Yes, unless he doesn't want to marry me."
Old Lady Lu said bluntly: "If he dares not to marry you, I, the old lady, will vent your anger for you!"
Wen Si Ning burst into laughter upon hearing this, "Then Grandma Lu must be waiting for our wedding banquet."
"Okay, I'm looking forward to hugging your child then!" said Mrs. Lu with a smile.
Wen Si Ning was slightly stunned. She curled her lips and said, "Yes, this day will come soon."
"Cough cough" A light cough came from the corner of the stairs. Wen Sining looked up and saw Jiang Jishan and Duan Ying standing there, looking at her quietly.
"Mom, we still have something to talk to this girl about." Duan Ying interrupted their conversation.
When Mrs. Lu heard this, she smiled and said, "Look at me. I'm old, and I can never stop talking. Go quickly, kid. Don't let me delay your work."
Wen Sining nodded at her and said, "Grandma Lu, I'll go over first."
She went up the stairs and followed them to the study on the second floor.
"Sit down and talk." Jiang Jishan poured her a cup of tea and motioned her to sit down.
Wen Sining originally wanted to return the key and leave, but when she saw Jiang Jishan's actions, she guessed that Jiang Jishan and the others still had something to say to her.
After sitting down, Duan Ying couldn't help but ask Wen Sining, "Child, tell me, what exactly has A Kun been doing in Hong Kong City for the past eight years?"
Wen Sining pursed her lips tightly. She didn't know whether she should tell them about Lu Jinkun's undercover work.
Jiang Jishan saw her concerns and comforted her, "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."
"This key is my wedding gift to you. Although I know your ceremony was not completed, since it is a gift given away, there is no reason for me to take it back."
"You keep the key. If you can bring that boy back in the future, that would be the best thing. Then you can have a grand wedding again and this house will be your wedding house."
Wen Sining didn't expect Jiang Jishan to say this.
Duan Ying sighed and stopped forcing him. "Although I don't know why A Kun insisted on going back, I believe he is not the kind of person who would betray his friends. Maybe he has his own reasons. Don't blame him, kid."
"Dean Duan, Chief Jiang, I didn't return to Gangcheng for Lu Jinkun. Since he chose to leave me, I won't pester him anymore. I can't take this key. This time I return to Gangcheng, maybe I don't plan to come back again." As he said that, Wen Sining put the key on the table in front of Jiang Jishan.
After returning the things, she didn't stay long. She stood up, said goodbye to them, and turned to leave.
Wen Sining never told them Lu Jinkun's undercover identity. The fewer people who knew about this, the less dangerous it would be.
When she walked to the gate of the family compound with her luggage, she saw Wen Yan and Lu Jingbai waving at her.
Standing next to them were Xu Zhiyi, Wen Yun and Wen Ce.
Wen Sining was a little surprised, and Xu Zhiyi said helplessly, "We guessed that you would leave without saying goodbye, so we waited for you at the door."
"Sister Xu." Wen Sining's eyelashes trembled, and she was a little moved.
Lu Jingbai said, "You paid for the car, so why wouldn't you take it?"
There was a minibus parked behind Lu Jingbai. He didn't expect to pick up the car so soon.
Wen Yan also smiled and said, "Si Ning, take a ride."
"Sister Si Ning, although I really want to take the car, I don't want you to leave." Wen Ce pouted, "Sister Si Ning, can you please not leave?"
Wen Sining looked at them and her nose felt sore, and a warm current seemed to flow slowly through her heart.
She smiled and raised the corners of her lips, "Thank you."
Wen Yun strode up to her and handed her a note. "If you're in danger outside, you can call this number. I'll be on call anytime."
Wen Sining looked at Wen Jun in a daze. She didn't expect her grandfather would go to such lengths for her.
Her eyes were red and she nodded with a sob: "Thank you, Brother Wen."
Wen Jun smiled and said, "I quite agree with Lu Jinkun on one point. We both have the same surname, Wen. Perhaps we really are related by blood. If you'd like, you can treat me as your biological elder brother."
"You are no longer alone in Beijing. You still have us, your family, here with you. Remember to come home often."
Wen Si Ning's eyes sparkled with glittering light. She could no longer hold back and suddenly threw herself into Wen Yun's arms, wrapping her arms tightly around Wen Yun's waist, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.
Her voice choked with sobs: "Brother, thank you!"
Wen Jun's whole body stiffened. After hearing Wen Sining call out "Brother", his heart beat violently and a sense of familiarity surged in his heart. The figure of the girl in front of him overlapped with Wen Yan eight years ago.
He vaguely felt that it was a connection that could only be established between family members.
"Brother is always here." Wen Jun patted her back and said to her softly.
Wen Sining finally got in the car. Lu Jingbai drove, and Xu Zhiyi and her family followed her to the station.
Wen Si Ning had never thought that farewells between people could be so emotional. She cried all the way, and when she waved goodbye to them, she cried uncontrollably.
She was reluctant to leave. These few short months were the happiest time she had experienced since she came here.
But no matter how happy you are, there will come a day when you have to say goodbye. After waving goodbye, she turned and walked into the station.
The scenery outside the window flew by, and she remembered the joy she felt when she was in Beijing. This time when she left Beijing, her mood had undergone a drastic change.
It was already the afternoon of the next day when we arrived at the port city.
The first thing Wen Si Ning did when he arrived in Hong Kong was to go to the tea restaurant to find Aunt Liu.
The moment she saw Wen Sining, Aunt Liu's eyes were filled with disbelief.
"Xiao Ning?" She hurried forward: "Oh, you're finally back. You've been gone for several months, and I almost thought you weren't going to come back!"
Aunt Liu looked her up and down, inside and out, and then she breathed a sigh of relief.
She looked behind Wen Sining and asked doubtfully, "Hey, where's your boyfriend A Kun? Didn't he come with you?"
Wen Si Ning handed the specialties he brought from Beijing to Aunt Liu and said calmly, "I broke up with him."
Aunt Liu's face was filled with disbelief: "What? Didn't you guys go out to have fun? Why are you breaking up after just one round of fun?"
When she said goodbye to Aunt Liu, she only told her that she was going to Guangdong Province to play for a few days.
Seeing her calm expression, Aunt Liu immediately guessed that she had been away for a few months and might have just gotten over a failed relationship. Aunt Liu tacitly shut her mouth and did not ask about Wen Sining's relationship affairs anymore.
"I'm glad you're back. Come, Aunt Liu will make you something delicious. Sit down and try Aunt Liu's cooking."
