Chapter 194 I don’t want to lie to you, it’s better for both you and me if we break up sooner
Wen Sining took a long nap this afternoon, and when she woke up she found herself resting her head on Lu Jinkun's legs.
She was so scared that she sat up and looked at his legs nervously, "How did I fall asleep leaning on your legs? Are you okay? Does it hurt when I press on your legs?"
Lu Jinkun glanced at her and asked, "Do you want me to feel pain or not?"
This question confused Wen Sining. What did she mean by "I hope he feels pain?"
She hoped he could stand up immediately, but could he?
Wen Si Ning looked annoyed. "I was confused because of my sleep. I won't sleep so deeply next time."
"I'll massage your legs to promote blood circulation." She said as she reached into the quilt.
When his conscious left leg was touched, Lu Jinkun's face froze and he didn't dare to move.
He only felt the girl's delicate fingers pinching the muscles on his legs neither lightly nor heavily.
The places where she pressed felt numb and sore, but very comfortable.
When Duan Ying and Jiang Jishan came in, they saw such a heartwarming scene.
Wen Sining heard the noise coming from the door and looked back.
Duan Ying came over with an iron lunch box in her hand. "I asked Auntie to make some chicken soup. You two should have a bowl to replenish your bodies."
Jiang Jishan walked to the bedside and looked at Lu Jinkun with a hint of admiration in his eyes.
"You've done very well. You should stay in the hospital and recuperate during this time. Once you're well, I'll recommend you to join the army. With your abilities, it won't be a problem for you to take my position in the future."
Duan Ying glared at Jiang Jishan. "Ah Kun is still injured, and you're already thinking about letting him join the army. How can you talk like that?"
Jiang Jishan, who was scolded by Duan Ying, smiled and explained, "I just met a rare talent. I want to focus on training him so that I can retire early and live a leisurely retirement life."
Duan Ying knew that he was a talkative person, and she said this just to give Lu Jinkun some hope, to make him feel that his leg injury was not a serious problem and would heal soon.
But what he didn't expect was that Lu Jinkun would reject him mercilessly.
"I'm afraid I'll disappoint you. Ever since my father died, I swore I would never join the army."
Duan Ying and Jiang Jishan both fell silent after hearing what he said.
The atmosphere became awkward for a moment, and Wen Sining broke the deadlock in time.
"Commander Jiang, he really can't join the army. I can't afford to lose him."
Jiang Jishan smiled and nodded, "It's okay, it's all up to him personally, I won't force him."
Duan Ying scooped out two bowls of chicken soup. Wen Sining did not refuse her kindness and drank a bowl of chicken soup. However, Lu Jinkun remained silent and did not even touch the chicken soup.
Wen Sining had no choice but to explain for him: "He just finished lunch and may not be hungry yet. Let's put this chicken soup aside and I'll heat it up for him tonight."
Duan Ying looked at Wen Si Ning with gratitude, "Thank you for your hard work, Si Ning. I'll ask the nurse to watch over you at night so that you can go back and have a good sleep."
Wen Sining shook his head. "There's a bed for a caregiver next to me. I'll sleep on it tonight and I'll be able to sleep well."
Duan Ying really didn't know how to thank Wen Sining. She had never seen a girl like Wen Sining. She was more thoughtful than her biological mother, making her feel ashamed.
When sleeping at night, Wen Sining lay on the accompanying bed next to him. The two beds were very close to each other, only separated by the distance of a bedside table.
Wen Sining turned around and faced Lu Jinkun. Seeing that he had his eyes closed, she asked, "Are you going to turn off the lights and go to bed?"
Lu Jinkun said "hmm" lightly.
Wen Sining reached out to press the switch on the wall, and the next second the entire ward was dark.
Wen Si Ning couldn’t sleep, perhaps because he had taken a nap at noon.
She stared at the figure on the hospital bed in the dim moonlight outside the window, lost in thought.
"Lu Jinkun, are you asleep?" she asked softly.
The person on the bed didn't move at all.
Wen Si Ning sighed softly and spoke to himself, "I can't sleep. Lying in bed, I think of the time when you risked your life to come to the ward late at night to help me apply medicine."
"You didn't even dare to wake me up. You applied medicine to me in the dark, and then left quietly."
The figure opposite still did not move. Wen Si Ning waited for a long time, and finally sighed again, then turned over, closed his eyes and forced himself to fall asleep.
When Lu Jinkun heard the sound of someone turning over beside him, he turned his head to look at the slender figure, his eyes deep and affectionate.
During the days in the hospital, Wen Sining was almost always by Lu Jinkun's side. It took him a long time to adapt to the hospital bed, and then the doctor allowed him to get out of bed and walk around.
Wen Sining also acted as his crutch, helping him walk step by step.
The two of them tacitly did not speak, but just continued to train.
Lu Jinkun attended every rehabilitation training that the doctor arranged for him, and he was even the last one to finish every training session. Wen Sining could see that he also wanted to return to normal as soon as possible.
Time flies, and in a blink of an eye, Lu Jinkun has been in the hospital for more than three months.
The Chinese New Year is coming soon, and I can always see fireworks blooming outside the window of the ward.
Lu Jinkun's gaze unconsciously turned to look out the window.
Wen Sining saw that his eyes were deep and he seemed to be thinking about something.
"If you want to see the fireworks, I'll take you downstairs next time and we can set them off together."
Lu Jinkun turned around and looked at her, "Go back and spend the New Year with Xu Zhiyi."
Wen Sining frowned in confusion, "What?"
"I will be discharged from the hospital and go to the Jiang family to celebrate the New Year and accompany my grandma."
During these three months, Wen Sining told Lu Jinkun a lot about the past.
Including the fact that his grandmother lived in the Jiang family and forgot about him.
Wen Sining didn't expect that he would choose to go to the Jiang family for the New Year, nor would he be willing to spend the New Year with her.
It would be a lie to say that he wasn't disappointed, but he wanted to celebrate the New Year with his grandmother, which was a good thing, so Wen Si Ning didn't say anything more.
She pulled the corners of her lips, trying to force herself to smile happily.
"That's great. Spend more time with grandma during the New Year. Maybe she'll remember you."
"Well, you told me before that we wouldn't meet again after you were discharged from the hospital." Lu Jinkun said the second half of the sentence calmly.
Wen Sining laughed mockingly, "Are you setting me up? Is this all for the sake of that last sentence?"
Lu Jinkun said calmly, "I've seen how well you've taken care of me over the past few months, but being touched isn't love. I really don't remember you anymore, and I can't get back the unforgettable relationship we had before."
"I don't want to lie to you. It's better for both you and me to break up sooner rather than later."
"Okay," Wen Sining agreed without hesitation.
Lu Jinkun did not expect her quick reaction. He looked at Wen Sining in surprise.
She looked calm, not at all sad. She said nonchalantly, "You're right. Since you have no feelings for me, there's no need for me to hang around in front of you and annoy you."
"I'll go, you don't have to rush me."
Wen Sining turned around and walked out of the ward briskly.
When the nurse came in to check on the ward, she stood up for Wen Sining.
"There's no such thing as an overnight grudge between husband and wife. Look, you've pissed off your partner and now there's no one to pick you up when you want to be discharged from the hospital."
