Chapter 26 Son-in-law

Qin Tao looked at her sleeping younger brother and sister, yawned, and felt sleepy too. She climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed), lay down next to her brother, and closed her eyes.

After a while, Qin Yan on the other side secretly opened her eyes and called out, "Sister?"

She breathed a sigh of relief, happily climbed off the kang (a heated brick bed), put on her shoes, and skipped and hopped to the place where the house was stored, where she took out a fishing net.

A bright smile appeared on his face.

As soon as she turned around and saw the person at the door, the smile on her face gradually disappeared, and her voice trembled: "Sister?"

"Little Swallow, where are you taking this fishing net?" Qin Tao asked gently.

Qin Yan trembled, dropped the fishing net, and lowered her head to admit her mistake: "I was wrong, I shouldn't have gone to the riverbank secretly."

Qin Tao's voice remained gentle: "What did you do wrong? You're so smart, you even know to wait until I fall asleep before leaving?"

Qin Yan looked up at Qin Tao with pleading eyes: "I shouldn't have gone to the riverbank secretly. I won't do it again next time."

Qin Tao glanced at her with disappointment and said, "Even when you liked to eat, you were still quite obedient before. What's wrong with you now?"

Hearing her sister's tone, Qin Yan felt a little scared for some reason. She pleaded, "Sister, I was wrong. Please don't tell Grandma."

The last time she made a mistake, her grandma spanked her, and it hurt terribly.

Qin Tao looked at her younger sister, whose eyes were red, and felt helpless yet soft-hearted. She compromised and said, "Don't do this again next time."

Qin Yan smiled through her tears and immediately nodded.

"I remember you had a red hair tie?" Qin Tao suddenly asked.

Qin Yan looked at her sister warily.

Qin Tao said, "I'll keep it for you, and I'll return it to you when you don't make the same mistake again."

Qin Yan tentatively asked in a low voice, "Could we change it to something else, sister? I have a small stone that you really like, I can give it to you."

Qin Tao said, "No need, just take the red hair tie, so you won't make the same mistake next time."

"...Alright!" Qin Yan sighed, and reluctantly ran back to her room.

When she came out, she was holding a red hair tie and a beautiful stone.

He stuffed them all into his sister's hands, saying, "The stone is for you, but you must keep the hair tie safe."

This is her favorite thing.

She vowed... she would never make the same mistake again.

Her gaze lingered on the hair tie, unwilling to look away for a long time.

Qin Tao looked at the stone in her palm, a pure, natural, transparent, heart-shaped stone, and smiled, saying, "Are you really going to give it to me?"

Qin Yan nodded.

"Then I'll take it." Qin Tao put it in her pocket, took the hair tie back to her room, closed the door, took out the wooden box her father had made for her from the bottom of the wardrobe, and put the hair tie and stone inside.

As soon as I opened the door, I saw Qin Yan peeking in from outside. She said, "Come in! Are you still sleeping?"

Qin Yan nodded decisively, and after a while, the three of them fell into a deep sleep.

Yunling slept for an hour. When she woke up, she was still a little dazed. She opened the window and the hot summer breeze rushed in. The cicadas in the trees were chirping weakly.

Everything is so wonderful, except for the lack of a cell phone, computer, and air conditioning...

Crying!

However, she has a system.

The system also issued two gossip-watching tasks this morning. She can ask Qin Tiantian about them later, and after figuring them out, she can claim the rewards. She wonders what the rewards are this time.

Hopefully it's not a pheasant; the pheasant in her backpack hasn't been dealt with yet.

Yunling went out for a walk. The three children at home were sleeping soundly. She didn't see Qin Tiantian, so she felt at ease. She washed up quickly, took out some beef jerky from her space and ate it slowly, resting her chin on her hand and watching the leaves swaying outside.

After a while, Qin Tiantian returned, carrying a small basket in her hand.

Seeing her covered in sweat, Yunling asked curiously, "Where have you been?"

Qin Tiantian put down her basket and said with a smile, "I went to pull weeds in my private plot and also dug up some wild vegetables. We can make a salad for dinner tonight."

“You can invite me next time; I’ve never been to our family’s private plot before,” Yunling said.

Yunxi Brigade allocates a small plot of land to each household for villagers to grow vegetables.

Qin Tiantian said, "There aren't many weeds. I can finish them by myself. Third Sister-in-law, you're not feeling well, and there's nothing good for you to eat at home, so please rest more."

If I faint again, not only will I suffer, but I'll also have to spend a lot of money on medical treatment.

Yunling brought her a bowl of water infused with honeysuckle. Looking at her sunburnt cheeks, she said, "Didn't your mother say she was going to find you a husband? She told you to stay home and keep your skin as fair as possible."

She went back to her room, retrieved a bottle of clam oil, and handed it to Qin Tiantian.

The original owner had a bottle of face cream and a bottle of clam oil.

Clam oil is too greasy; she doesn't like it.

This is perfect for Qin Tiantian.

Qin Tiantian glanced at it and immediately shook her head: "Third Sister-in-law, you keep it!"

She had seen it at the supply and marketing cooperative; even this small bottle of clam oil cost quite a bit of money.

Yunling handed it to her, saying, "Take it! I don't need it."

Qin Tiantian touched it, hesitated for a moment, and accepted it, saying, "Thank you, Third Sister-in-law. Next time I go to the county town, I'll bring you big meat buns. They're delicious."

Yunling nodded with a smile.

Qin Tiantian gulped down the water, washed her face, took out a little clam oil, applied it to her face, and said helplessly, "Mom is just too optimistic. What city man would marry a country girl? They have such high standards."

She knew her family meant well, but city men looked down on country girls. She didn't want to marry such a man; if she was already being looked down upon before marriage, how could she expect to be happy after?
