Chapter 5 This kind of magic can't fool Chen Tan

Qin Li saw this and pointed at the new cabinet, "That cabinet is yours, keep the key yourself."

Chen Tan looked up and saw a lock with two small keys hanging on the door of the new cabinet.

She nodded and walked towards the door.

Qin Li saw that she was walking stiffly, so he took a few steps forward and asked, "Do you need my help?"

Overshadowed by his tall figure, Chen Tan was a little nervous, "No, I can do it."

Seeing that she was rejecting him, Qin Li took a few steps back, turned around, picked up the foot washing water, and walked away with the oil lamp in his other hand.

Chen Tan followed him to the side of the brush set up next to the kitchen.

It is a room used for washing.

Qin Li took out a brand new enamel basin and handed it to her. Inside it were brand new enamel cups, towels, soap, toothbrushes, tooth powder and shampoo powder.

"These are all yours."

He then picked up a new wooden basin and handed it over, "This is for foot bathing. If you run out of soap, tooth powder, or shampoo, tell me. Don't use someone else's."

Chen Tan looked up at him with a slightly warning gaze and nodded obediently, "I remember."

"Come on, I'll take you to the toilet."

Qin Li took the basin from her hand and placed it on a wooden shelf beside her.

Holding the lamp, he was the first to leave the bathroom.

Chen Tan had the same idea, so he followed him.

The Qin family's house was simple, with two main rooms, one for Qin Qiuniang and one for Qin Li.

Opposite the main house is a thatched shed more than three meters high, in which are placed farm items such as water tanks, pottery jars, wooden barrels, baskets, and bamboo baskets.

On the right side of the main house are the kitchen and the side brush room.

On the left side near the lower corner is the courtyard gate, behind which is a doghouse and a pomegranate tree.

There is a back door where the kitchen and the main house are connected.

Qin Li led Chen Tan through the back door and into the backyard.

The Qin family's backyard is three times larger than the front yard, and there are straw sheds more than two meters wide on the three walls.

The thatched hut next to the back mountain is divided into three parts: a pigpen, a chicken coop, and a toilet.

The other two sheds were filled with firewood and withered pine needles.

The open-air part in the middle is a vegetable field. It is dim at night and you can’t see clearly what is planted there.

Chen Tan followed Qin Li through the vegetable garden and came to the toilet.

The two pigs saw the light and looked over with grunts.

Soon after, the three chickens woke up and clucked.

Chen Tan looked at the kerosene lamp in Qin Li's hand and said, "Brother Qin, I'll go in by myself."

Qin Li didn't say anything. He went straight into the toilet, placed the oil lamp on the small cabinet where toilet paper was stored, and pointed at the wooden toilet above the mud pit. "Sit on it. I'm going to the front."

Chen Tan's eyes were slightly surprised. The original owner had never heard of this toilet, and the rough yellow toilet paper was something he had never seen anyone use.

The villagers solved the problem by using tung leaves, dry straw and thin bamboo strips.

The Qin Li family, who don't interact with outsiders, live a pretty good life!

After Chen Tan came out, she went back the same way carrying the oil lamp. Qin Li had already prepared hot water for her.

After she washed up, she went to the kitchen.

Qin Li was sitting at the small square table. When he saw her come in, his eyes fell on the chair opposite him, "Sit down and eat."

Chen Tan's buttocks were still hurting, but she endured the pain and sat down calmly.

On the table, there was a bowl of white rice, a pot of chicken soup, and a plate of minced meat and shredded radish.

There was also an iron ball the size of an egg placed awkwardly next to it.

She picked up the bowl, straightened her body, and ate silently.

He sighed silently in his heart that the Qin family lived a pretty good life.

In the original owner's memory, the Shen family only ate white rice porridge during festivals.

But there will never be a share for the original owner.

She basically eats pig feed made from wild vegetables with the mission pigs at home.

After she finished eating, Qin Li's tall body leaned over the table and pressed towards her.

The five fingers of his right hand were like steel claws, grabbing her chin and forcing her to look up into his sharp eyes.

"I'm not marrying you as a daughter-in-law. You just need to take good care of my grandmother in this house. When she passes away, I will give you a generous gift and marry you off in a grand manner."

As he said this, he loosened his hand, picked up the iron ball, and squeezed it hard.

The iron ball turned into powder and slowly leaked out from between his fingers.

If it were someone else, they would definitely be scared to death and kneel down to kowtow and surrender.

But this kind of magic can't fool Chen Tan.

The corners of her lips twitched. She thought he was a mature uncle, but she didn't expect that he had a middle school mentality.

However, she still pretended to be afraid and trembled, her eyes full of mist, with an expression that said, "I will be very good."

He kept nodding but couldn't say a word.

Qin Li was very satisfied with her performance and continued to scare her: "If I hear my grandma say anything bad about you, death will be your best outcome."

Afraid that she would be too frightened, he added, "From now on, you will be my sister. I will protect you and won't let anyone bully you."

His words were the assurance Chen Tan wanted.

The corners of her lips curled up unconsciously, "I don't want to be my eldest brother's wife either. I hope my eldest brother will keep his word and just treat me as his younger sister and not bully me."

Her face is not pretty, but her bright almond eyes are extremely dazzling.

For a moment, Qin Li regretted what he had just said.

But how can a man’s pride allow him to regret?

"A gentleman's word is as good as gold."

"Thank you, Brother Qin, for taking me in."

Chen Tan said this seriously, then lowered his head to clean up the dishes.

Looking at her calm expression, Qin Li felt as if his heart was stuffed with cotton, and he felt inexplicably uncomfortable.

He stood up and poured the Chinese medicine boiling on the stove into a bowl, then brought it over and said, "Drink the medicine and go to sleep!"

"Well, thank you."
