Chapter 12 Beef Noodles in Broth

After seeing Ruiying and the others off, Su Li sat on a chair in the main hall and stared at the four little kids opposite him.

Su Li looked at the ragged appearance of the children. It was late autumn and they didn't have a pair of decent shoes on their feet. They were either single shoes with holes in them, or shoes that were so dirty that the color couldn't be recognized and were of different sizes. Even their left and right feet were not the same pair. Their little faces and hands were dirty, and there was even black mud between their nails.

Gurgle~

I don’t know whose stomach growled.

After a day of suffering, the children were scared and frightened, and now they were just hungry. Su Li just remembered that she had eaten a bowl of bone soup noodles, so she was not hungry anymore. The children must be very hungry, but they dared not say anything.

Su Li stretched out her hand, looked at the cubs and said, "You must be hungry! I... um, mom will go cook for you."

Several children looked a little bit incredulous. Normally, if they were hungry, their master would send them to cook by themselves. The poor children were not even as high as the stove, so they could only cook some corn paste. They certainly could not think about having any vegetables. It was good enough to have something to eat.

Su Li saw that the children were silent, so she thought of getting some food for them first, and then talking to them after they were full.

Arrived in the kitchen, eh~

There was a layer of dust and oil on the stove. The mistress herself dressed herself up nicely, but her house was so dirty that it was unbearable to look at. Thinking of the quilt piled on the kang, Su Li couldn't imagine how she could sleep.

The stove was an old-fashioned one with only a big iron pot on it, which should be used for cooking. There were a few bottles and jars placed all over the place next to it. Su Li took a look and found that it was for seasonings, and a small black jar for oil, the cooking oil in it was almost empty.

There was a cabinet more than one meter tall next to it, which contained several porcelain bowls and chopsticks, a large radish, a few cornmeal and bean cakes. There were several cloth bags in the locked cabinet below, a rice jar that was almost empty, a handful of radish noodles, half a handful of noodles, and an egg in a straw jar. Su Li next to him sighed.

This woman spent all her money on vanity.

Fortunately, there are supplies in my space. Otherwise, in this era of material scarcity and people being so lazy, the whole family would just starve to death!

Su Li filled the pot with seasonings, but did not touch the cornmeal and bean cakes. Thinking about the skinny faces of the children, they should eat more refined grains and supplement their nutrition. So he put 30 eggs, 10 handfuls of noodles, and 20 kilograms of noodles in the straw bowl, filled the rice jar, took out two cans of milk powder and two bags of brown sugar, and fished out two pieces of braised beef.

The children never dared to open the cabinet below, so they didn't know what was inside.

Su Li was thinking about the children eating soon. This was convenient and fast, and she could arrange for them to rest after they finished eating.

At this time, the kitchen door was pushed open, and Su Li saw a skinny little boy walking in. He looked at Su Li timidly. The four-year-old child was very thin, and his thin body was so cold that snot bubbles came out of his nose. He wiped his face with his sleeves, and the mud on his face also stained his sleeves. His clothes, which were already dirty, became even dirtier. Su Li's mouth twitched when he saw this.

"Mom, are you really going to cook for us?" He shuddered as he said this, then lowered his head and looked at his shoes with his big toe exposed, not daring to speak again.

Although Su Li had never been a mother in her previous life, she felt sympathy and compassion for the poor child, and her words became softer.

"Well, don't be afraid, Huzi. Mom will cook for you. Go to the main room and play with your brothers and sisters. Dinner will be ready soon."

Hu Zi glanced at Su Li, turned around and ran out. From the look of him, Su Li thought he was here to get some information, and he must be reporting to a few little friends now.

Originally, Su Li wanted to take the ready-made food directly from the space, but she was afraid that they would ask how the meal was cooked without a fire. After all, the children were just children, not fools.

So Su Li decided to do it herself. She washed the pot and lit the fire, scooped two spoonfuls of broth from the bone soup noodle restaurant in the department store into the pot, and took out the radish from the cupboard, broke off a few leaves, cut them and put them in to boil. After the pot boiled, she put the noodles in and added some spiritual spring water. Several children had been malnourished for a long time, and there was only broth, and she was afraid that the children would not be able to benefit from it.

Add four more eggs, slice the braised beef and put it into the bowl, and a pot of beef noodles with broth is ready.

Su Li served four bowls of noodles. She thought she had already eaten and was not hungry at the moment. However, Su Li would not miss the opportunity to get close to the little guys, so she served herself a bowl of noodle soup with only a few vegetable leaves in it.

Su Li called a few children to come for dinner. Tiedan took Baoya, Huzi and Shitou into the kitchen. They looked at the four bowls of steaming noodles on the small table in the kitchen. The aroma hit their little noses. There was also a lot of meat and eggs on the noodles. The children stared at them.

Is it really for them? They have never eaten anything so delicious before. Several children stared at it without blinking, their mouths watering.

Su Li looked at the children standing there watching without moving, and pulled Tiedan Huzi to sit down. "What are you standing there for? Sit down and eat! Aren't you hungry?"

Baoya, because she was a little girl, was even more timid. She didn't dare to move at all. She trembled when she heard Su Li talking. Only when she saw her brother sitting down did she dare to sit down.

Su Li handed chopsticks to the children, pushed the bowl of noodles in front of them, looked at them with a smile and said, "Eat! Children, if you don't eat, the noodles will clump together!"

Hu Ziwei had just spoken to Su Li. Now seeing his mother's smiling face and the noodles in the bowl, he didn't care. Even if he had to beat him up, it would be worth it for the meal. He immediately picked up a piece of meat with chopsticks and ate it.

Mm~ so fragrant, so delicious, the meat is so soft and tender.

I took another bite of the egg.

Wow, the eggs are delicious too.

So I ignored everything and started eating with relish.

The other three children saw Hu Zi eating the noodles, but Su Li didn't say anything. Plus the noodles were so delicious, they immediately joined the team that slurped the noodles, slurping them with oil dripping from their mouths.

Su Li felt deeply sad watching the children eating so happily. The children were only slightly older than Tiedan, who was only 5 years old. Baoya and Huzi and Shitou were both 4 years old. In their previous lives, they were still rolling around in their parents' arms.

These skinny, dry-haired, dirty little paws in front of me, oh!

Seeing the children eating with relish, Su Li also took a sip of the noodle soup.
