Chapter 751

Chapter 857 After two days of transporting supplies, the main road outside the rescue area was finally opened, and government rescue teams and vehicles arrived at Tiger City one after another.

The reassuring voices over the loudspeaker completely put the villagers at ease.

As part of a unified plan, villagers began to be transferred in batches to safer temporary resettlement sites.

Shen Mo was busy handing over patient files and taking inventory of the remaining medical supplies.

Seeing Lu Qingyang helping to move the last few bags of grain, she went over, patted the dust off his shoulders, and said softly, "Qingyang, you should go out with this truck first. Things are stable here for now, but your company must have a lot of things piling up. Besides, the situation here isn't completely stable yet. If you're here, I can't help but get distracted."

Lu Qingyang put down the bag and looked at the pale blue under her eyes, knowing that she hadn't slept for several days.

"Okay, I'll listen to Dr. Shen. I have some things to take care of when I get back."

He readily agreed, and the slight disappointment that had arisen in Shen Mo's heart due to the separation was suppressed, leaving only a slight emptiness.

She nodded, then turned to direct the nurses to pack an elderly man's medication. Her back was straight, and she was as efficient and professional as ever.

As expected, Lu Qingyang left with a truck transporting the elderly, women, and children.

Shen Mo stood in the village, watching the dust kicked up by the truck gradually dissipate on the mountain road, and sighed.

The disaster relief mission was far from over, so she had to stay.

Three months passed quickly in a busy schedule.

That afternoon, Shen Mo was disinfecting the newly erected medical tents at the resettlement site when she suddenly heard the sound of a car outside, mixed with the noise of villagers and the excited shouts of children.

She walked to the tent, puzzled, and lifted the curtain.

On the newly widened dirt road in Dōmi Village, billowing dust, three military transport trucks covered with canvas and with wide tires drove in!

The passenger door of the truck opened, and a familiar figure jumped out nimbly. Who else could it be but Lu Qingyang?

He changed into clean work clothes, but his face was still covered in dust. He was smiling and shaking hands with Li Jianguo, the village secretary who had rushed over after hearing the news. Then he directed seven strong young men who jumped off the truck behind him to start unloading the goods.

"Dr. Chen, come quick! Lu Zhizhi brought so many treasures!" A young nurse ran over, her face flushed with excitement.

Shen Mo walked over and looked at the hot morning scene before her.

What the young men were carrying off the truck included not only boxes of brand-new quilts and cotton coats, but also bags of rice and flour, as well as medicine boxes. The quantity and specifications of these items clearly exceeded the scope of regular relief supplies.

Even more surprisingly, there were several brand-new, small diesel generators, as well as several bundles of thick cables and light bulbs!

"Old Lu! You've gone too far with this!" Li Jianguo stared wide-eyed at the generator. "This thing is very valuable!"

As Lu Qingyang helped carry the boxes, he casually said, "We were lucky. On the way back, we happened to run into a shipment that our company was transporting south. We coordinated with our superiors and managed to get some urgently transferred over. We figured it wasn't safe for us to work in the dark at night, so having some lights would be better. Oh, and these too, they're modified compressed biscuits and canned meat. They're high in calories and have a long shelf life, so we're giving everyone a change of pace."

As he spoke, his gaze swept past the crowd and landed on Shen Mo, who was standing by the tent. He winked at her.

Shen Mo didn't know what to say for a moment.

Seeing his composed and decisive manner, the emptiness in my heart was instantly filled, and I even felt a mix of annoyance and amusement.

No wonder he agreed so readily; he was waiting for this all along.

She walked over to Lu Qingyang and asked in a low voice, "Why did you come back again? And why did you make such a commotion?"

Lu Qingyang took out something wrapped tightly in oil paper from his pocket and put it in her hand; it was warm to the touch.

“You promised to come back, but you didn’t say you wouldn’t. Here, brown sugar cake, it’s still hot. I was worried about you since there’s no light or electricity here.” He spoke as casually as if he had just gone out to buy groceries.

She gently squeezed his hand, said nothing, and turned to the nurse, calling out, "Xiao Zhang, a few people, come help move the medicine kits into the new tent and sort them. Captain Li, where should we put the generator? We need to plan the wiring!"

As the water level receded, the house foundations and field ridges, blackened and covered in silt, were revealed.

The sky was no longer a heavy, leaden gray; occasionally, a few decent rays of sunlight could be seen through it.

The temporary medical station has shifted its focus from emergency rescue to routine epidemic prevention and basic disease treatment, and order is gradually being restored.

Lu Qingyang stayed at Tiger's Den for a few more days; it was time for him to leave.

There is indeed a lot of backlog of work at the company.

Zhou Fang had already made several phone calls. Although she didn't urge him, Lu Qingyang knew his limits.

More importantly, the most dangerous phase has passed, and Shen Mo's safety is now guaranteed.

The two embraced quietly for a while, listening to the faint sound of the wind outside and the hushed conversations of the villagers in the distance.

A sliver of cool moonlight seeped through the cracks in the shed.

"We made a promise, a year. It's only been a short time, there's still more than half a year left. You must be careful and call me directly if anything happens."

Without saying much, Lu Qingyang waved to the crowd and then gave a deep look at Shen Mo in the crowd.

Shen Mo nodded slightly to him and waved her hand gently at her side.

The truck started, kicking up dust.

Shen Mo stood on the ground, watching the vehicles drive onto the dirt road they had widened together, getting smaller and smaller until it rounded the bend in the mountain valley and disappeared from sight.
