Chapter 9: Selling Goods on the Black Market (1/2)

Chapter 9 Black Selling Goods

A busy day began. Today, Qiao Qinglu said goodbye to Qiao's father and mother. She went into the space, drank milk, ate scrambled eggs, took a shower, and then took medicine. Only then did she find a large bamboo basket that Qiao's mother used to buy vegetables and a spoon for scooping noodles in the house.

Although the basket was smaller than expected, it could only hold a bag of flour.

She brought the bamboo basket into the space, put the items in it, put in a scale, cut a piece of thick dark gray cloth to cover the basket, and then left the space.

Then, while everyone in the tube building had gone to work, Qiao Qinglu put on a navy blue old man's uniform from the warehouse over her cotton-padded jacket, wrapped her head with a gray scarf and hurried out.

There was a dead end alley near Heilongjiang. At the end of the alley, she saw that no one had entered the space.

She tied her hair into a bun, used concealer to darken her skin a few shades, and added a few spots. When she heard no movement outside, she carried the large bamboo basket and left the space.

After exiting the alley, she quickly reached the dark entrance and entered after paying the administrator a 2 yuan fee.

This black house is a network of alleys, with many people inside, chatting in groups of three or four against the walls.

Qiao Qinglu found a place at the foot of the wall where there was no wind and stood there. She placed the bamboo basket she was carrying in front of her and lifted a corner of the gray cloth to reveal the flour inside, waiting for the buyer to come.

Soon several aunts came over. They were attracted by the snow-white flour and stopped to touch it. It was very smooth without any big particles.

"Big sister, how much do you sell this flour for?" a tall lady asked.

"Flour is 70 cents a pound, no ticket needed." Qiao Qinglu replied.

"Why is it so expensive?" The aunties were all amazed.

"This is high-quality flour. It's cleaner and finer than Fuqiang flour, and it's not sold in ordinary markets." Qiao Qinglu saw the aunties mumbling and was tempted. She said, "I have this 30-jin bag of flour. If you can buy it all, I'll give it to you at 68 cents per jin."

The aunties immediately agreed. They pooled 20.4 yuan and gave it to Qiao Qinglu, then took out bags of flour and asked Qiao Qinglu to weigh 5 jin, 7 jin, 8 jin, and 10 jin for them respectively.

After the old lady left and seeing that no one was paying attention, Qiao Qinglu secretly put the empty flour bag into the space under the cover of gray cloth, and exchanged it for a bag of 30 kilograms of flour.

Then several more groups of people came and took away two bags of rice and 30 handfuls of noodles by covering up for Qiao Qinglu. In the end, she sold a total of 60 kilograms of flour, 40 kilograms of rice, and 30 handfuls of noodles. Rice was sold at the same price as flour, at 70 cents per kilogram, and noodles at 80 cents per handful, for a total profit of 93.4 yuan.

In order not to attract the attention of people around her, Qiao Qinglu walked out with a bamboo basket on her shoulder and found a dead end to enter the space.

She changed into a blue scarf, put on a dark gray old-fashioned uniform, changed her makeup, and then came out and entered the black room through another entrance.

After a while, Qiao Qinglu found a place where there were not many people. She took out a military coat and a watch under the cover of gray cloth, lifted a corner of the gray cloth and waited for people to ask the price.

The items she sold were relatively scarce, and immediately attracted two young men.

Both of them took a fancy to the military coat. Qiao Qinglu lied that it was sent back by a relative in the army and offered 65 yuan for it. Both of them wanted it.

Qiao Qinglu was a little embarrassed and had to say that she had another item at home which could not be picked up until tomorrow. So the young man in blue asked his companion to buy it first and he would go again tomorrow.

When Qiao Qinglu lifted the cover of the bamboo basket to take out the military coat, the two guys noticed that there was also a watch.

This time the guy in blue picked up the watch and asked, "I don't want the coat anymore. How much do I want to sell this watch?"

Qiao Qinglu said awkwardly, "Originally, I sold this watch for 230 yuan, but since you really want it, I'll give you 220 yuan."

After the two boys collected the money, they happily left with the items they liked.

After they were far away and seeing that no one was paying attention, Qiao Qinglu took out two military water bottles and two pairs of men's cotton boots under the cover of gray cloth.

After a while, a little girl in flowery clothes and a man in blue work clothes came over. They checked the quality of the kettle and cotton boots, bargained for a while, and bought a kettle and a pair of men's cotton boots respectively, for a total of 47 yuan.

After they left, a tall and thin young man came over and said, "Sister, our Brother Yong wants you to come over and have a chat."
