"Xiao Jing, haven't you had lunch yet?"
Only Yang Baiyi and Yang Jing were left in the main room.
Yang Jing and Yang Xiaoxiao are about the same age, but their current situations are very different.
The little girl was raised plump and white by herself. This time she came out because her sister said she wanted to eat hot pot in the evening.
But Yang Jing was pale and thin, with dry and yellow hair, and looked malnourished.
Although they are the same age, Yang Jing looks much shorter than Yang Xiaoxiao.
"Well, my brother and I followed Grandpa to pick up coal cores before daybreak. If we go too late, we won't be able to pick them up."
Yang Jing bravely said to Yang Baiyi.
"Eat two candies first. I'll be out for a bit and back soon."
Adult matters have nothing to do with children, even if they are Yang Bingkun’s children.
Yang Baiyi stuffed a handful of White Rabbit milk candy into Yang Jing's hand.
"Brother, can I give some to grandpa and brother?" Yang Jing asked timidly, holding the candy in her hand.
"Can."
Yang Baiyi turned around and walked out the door, started the jeep and left the Yang family's old house.
"Your eldest brother is gone?"
Hearing the noise, Yang Laoshi quickly walked out of the kitchen.
"Grandpa, my eldest brother said he would be back soon."
"Grandpa eats candy, brother eats candy."
…
Yang Baiyi drove the jeep around and put some rice, flour, grain, oil, and a lot of meat in the trunk.
The instigators of the conflict are no longer around, and only an old man and two children are left in the old house. Yang Baiyi couldn't bear to see them suffer from hunger and cold.
The jeep stopped at the door of the old house again, and Yang Laoshi, who was waiting at the door, hurried over to greet it.
"I bought some food for you."
Yang Baiyi opened the trunk, which was full of food and meat.
"Bai Yi, thank you."
Being poor and ambitious, Yang Laoshi couldn't bring himself to refuse.
The two of them moved several times before they finally moved all the things into the main room and put them away.
"Don't you have a pension? I can't say how much you eat, but it won't make your stomach hurt, right?"
Yang Baiyi saw that there was only half a pot of corn porridge on the table, and not even a steamed bun.
"Your second uncle Yang Bingkun injured someone, and he's still bedridden. You have to pay him back every month with your pension, or else we'll take over this courtyard."
Yang Laoshi smiled bitterly. He had been having a really hard time during this period of time.
"Bai Yi, can Grandpa ask you for a favor?"
Yang Laoshi looked at Yang Baiyi nervously.
"Eat first, and we'll talk after dinner if you have anything to say."
Yang Baiyi knew what Yang Laoshi wanted to say. As he was getting older, he must want to entrust his child to someone else.
"Okay, do you want to drink a bowl?" Yang Laoshi asked embarrassedly.
I wanted to invite Yang Baiyi to eat together, but there was only corn porridge on the table.
"Don't worry about me, I've already had lunch."
Afraid that they would feel uncomfortable, Yang Baiyi turned his back and sat next to the stove, no longer looking at them.
"Bai Yi, Grandpa asks you for a favor."
After Yang Laoshi finished drinking the corn porridge, he sat opposite Yang Baiyi, holding a pipe in his hand. There was no tobacco in it, and he just took a few puffs to satisfy his craving.
After the incident at home, eating became a problem and he has quit smoking for a long time.
"Here, take this."
Yang Baiyi took out a pack of Zhonghua cigarettes from his bag and handed it over.
"I don't want to smoke anymore. If I get addicted again, I'll have to quit smoking again." Yang Laoshi didn't take the cigarette.
“Bai Yi, I know my body well, and I don’t think I can hold on for much longer.
But Yang Lei and Yang Jing are still too young. Grandpa shamelessly begs you, can you give them a bite to eat? Anything is fine, as long as they don’t starve to death.”
After Yang Laoshi finished speaking, he looked at Yang Baiyi nervously.
He knew that the old house was unfair to the eldest son's family. Yang Baiyi was willing to follow him to the old house and brought him so much food and meat. The eldest grandson had done his best.
Yang Laoshi also knew that his request was indeed a bit excessive, but he had no choice.
After I die, if there is no one to take care of my grandchildren, they will probably just have to wait for death.
"Do you believe me?" Yang Baiyi answered the question irrelevantly.
"letter."
Yang Laoshi had no choice but to believe Yang Baiyi.
"After I went to the countryside, I taught myself some medical skills. I came to check on your health."
Yang Baiyi pulled Yang Laoshi's right hand and placed his fingers on Yang Laoshi's wrist.
The wood energy passed through his fingers and traveled through Old Yang's body.
It was discovered that Yang Laoshi was just weak due to aging organs and malnutrition, and he did not have any other diseases.
Yang Baiyi controlled the wood energy and helped Yang Laoshi sort out his meridians and nourish his organs.
"How do you feel now?"
"It's much easier now. I feel like my physical condition has never been better."
Yang Laoshi stretched his limbs, his face full of disbelief.
"So they should both follow you. I can't stay in Luoshui City for too long."
It's okay for Yang Baiyi to help out by delivering supplies, but it's absolutely impossible for him to bring Yang Lei and Yang Jing with him.
"Here's two hundred yuan. Keep it. Don't go picking up coal cores anymore. Let Yang Lei and Yang Jing go back to school."
Yang Baiyi took out a stack of big unity notes and handed them to Yang Laoshi.
"Grandson, they treated you so badly before, yet you were able to repay evil with kindness. Grandpa really doesn't know what to say."
Yang Laoshi held the banknotes in his hand, and two turbid tears welled up in his eyes.
"The biggest responsibility for our family reaching this point actually lies with you.
At the beginning, it was just an ordinary conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Because of your inaction and your attempt to smooth things over, the old lady became fearless and the situation became worse and worse.
