Chapter 31 I Don’t Want to Wait Anymore
As soon as the two of them put down their chopsticks, the waiter with willow-shaped eyebrows and a pointed chin came over with a twist of his waist. He banged his small notebook on the table with an arrogant look and glanced at them with contempt. "Two dollars and thirty-three cents plus six ounces of food coupons. Who of you two will pay the bill?"
Anyone who saw the look on his face knew that the waiter looked down on them and thought that the two of them couldn't afford the cost of a meal.
Song Shuyan immediately got angry and slammed the table. "Did I say I was done eating? I haven't even finished my meal yet, and you're already asking for the bill. Is this how you, a state-owned restaurant, serve the people?"
The waiter glanced at the table with his narrow eyes. Only the bottom of the three dishes were left. Doesn’t that mean they are finished?
She was even more convinced that she was right. She snorted coldly and said sarcastically, "Just pay the bill and continue eating. You can eat as long as you want. Who cares?"
Qin Fei's face flushed with anger. She noticed the strange looks from the guests at the next tables. She was afraid that everyone would think they were causing trouble and that she couldn't pay the bill, so she immediately took out a stack of banknotes from her cloth bag.
She was about to take out the corresponding bills to pay when she suddenly had an idea and began to count the bills slowly and calmly.
Now it was the waitress's turn to change her expression. She was still unconvinced and thought, who knows from which sucker these money and bills were cheated?
The diners who were watching the excitement withdrew their gazes. Song Shuyan heard the guests at the next table muttering quietly, "This waiter's attitude is really not good."
The waiter's face flushed red and he turned around to glare at the person who spoke.
Qin Fei slowly handed the counted bills to the waiter, "Just right, do you want to count them?"
The waiter grabbed the bill, snorted coldly, and walked away with his hips twisted.
Song Shuyan took a deep breath and suppressed his anger.
It's really a waste of money. If this wasn't the only restaurant in town where you can eat meat, who would be willing to come here?
She also took out her banknotes, counted out one dollar and fifty cents, and handed it to Qin Fei. "I forgot to bring my food coupons. I'll change them into cash for you."
Qin Fei didn't want it. She smiled and said, "I'll pay the bill this time. You can come next time. We are friends. There's no need to calculate too much!"
Song Shuyan nodded in agreement.
Seeing that she was in a bad mood, Qin Fei whispered tentatively, "Should we wait a little longer? What if Comrade Zhou and Comrade Chen are delayed by something?"
Song Shuyan hesitated for a moment, then nodded slightly, "Then let's wait."
At this time, another group of guests walked into the state-owned restaurant, and the restaurant was already full.
The waitress glanced around the restaurant. Song Shuyan's table had already finished their meal and paid the bill, so she came over to chase them away as if it was her duty. "Why aren't you leaving yet? Please give up your table."
Song Shuyan raised his eyebrows sarcastically, "Didn't you just say that we can sit as long as we want after we pay the bill?"
The waiter said confidently, "The restaurant wasn't full just now..."
The new customer also joined in, "Yeah, why don't you leave after you finish eating? You're just occupying the toilet without taking a shit!"
Song Shuyan looked up and saw that it was someone he knew, "Zhang Hui?"
Aren’t the new guests Zhang Hui and a strange young man?
The young man had handsome features, thick eyebrows and big eyes. When he saw that they knew each other, he put his hands together and said, "Since we know each other, why don't we share a table?"
Zhang Hui was unhappy. "I don't know how someone can be so shameless. He even stayed in the restaurant after dinner!"
The young man's eyes widened slightly in surprise. He looked at Zhang Hui with a puzzled expression and carefully tugged at her sleeve.
Zhang Hui glared at him unhappily.
The young man was the son of the village chief of her brigade. She had finally lured him into a relationship with her, for she was afraid that he would fall in love with someone else after seeing Song Shuyan's beauty.
Who would be willing to share a table with Song Shuyan, giving the two of them more opportunities to interact?
Besides, she felt that she and the waiter were right.
Song Shuyan was still occupying the table after dinner, wasting national resources!
Song Shuyan had no intention of making things difficult for them and was about to step forward to make room for them. However, after hearing what Zhang Hui said, she suddenly didn't want to leave anymore and sat back down.
"Who said we were full?"
She looked at the waiter standing next to her and waved, "Please give us another plate of smashed cucumbers and a plate of spiced peanuts!"
The waiter took note of the table and took away the empty dishes, saying, "Since you know each other and there is room, why don't you share the table?"
The other person continued to order food, and she couldn't just kick him out for no reason.
In fact, Song Shuyan was not willing to sit at the same table with Zhang Hui, but she could not refuse her.
Zhang Hui sat down opposite Song Shuyan, glaring at her sulking.
The young man discussed with Qin Fei, "Comrade, can we change seats?"
Now Zhang Hui and Qin Fei were sitting on the same bench, and the table for four was left empty next to Song Shuyan.
Zhang Hui also realized that she couldn’t sit like that!
Fortunately, Qin Fei quickly switched positions with Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu was a down-to-earth man. After sitting down, he asked Zhang Hui what she wanted to eat. Zhang Hui said in a sweet voice that she wanted to eat sweet and sour fish.
Song Shuyan shuddered.
Clip sound!
It was the first time she heard Zhang Hui speak in a staccato voice, and she was so shocked that she got goosebumps. The young man opposite her seemed not to have heard it, and waved to the waiter as usual to take her order.
"Would you like a plate of sweet and sour fish and a stewed old hen?"
The second half of the sentence was asked to Zhang Hui when he turned around.
Zhang Hui hesitated, "Isn't it too much? Too extravagant?"
Zhang Hui was somewhat sincere towards Xiao Wu, otherwise she wouldn't have started dating him less than half a month after going to the countryside.
It turns out that the saying that it only takes a little time for a girl to pursue a boy is true!
Zhang Hui's family didn't have any strong connections, and she had never thought about returning to the city. After going to the countryside, she saw Xiao Wu, who was good-looking, came from a decent family in the local area, and had some minor privileges, so she acted quickly, accurately and ruthlessly.
Take the person down decisively.
The two of them just decided to start a relationship today, so they came to town to have a nice meal to celebrate.
At this time, Zhang Hui regained her sanity and stopped looking for Song Shuyan.
When she saw Song Shuyan just now, she remembered that when they were choosing the brigade, Song Shuyan encouraged the male comrades who chose the tractor not to switch with her and even ridiculed her.
She couldn't help but speak a little vulgarly and said a few words to Song Shuyan.
Now she was feeling uneasy and glanced at Xiao Wu secretly. He had never seen this side of her before and she wondered if he would have a bad impression of her because of this.
Seeing Xiao Wu rinsing Zhang Hui's dishes with boiling water and being generous when ordering dishes, Song Shuyan couldn't help but sigh. He didn't expect Zhang Hui to be so capable.
So soon, you’re dating?
His taste in choosing a partner is not bad either.
Thinking of the person she was waiting for, who didn't show up after waiting for a long time, she felt sad and didn't want to wait any longer.
She pursed her lips. She was not a mean person. Why should she keep waiting for someone who might not show up?
Suddenly, her heart felt like it was being gripped by a big hand. She felt a dull stinging pain and could hardly breathe. She felt extremely uncomfortable.
The smashed cucumbers and peanuts were soon served on the table, and Song Shuyan waved to the waiter to pay the bill.
"Pack the peanuts for me."
She pushed the task of slapping cucumbers to Zhang Hui.
