Chapter 79: Exorbitant Price
The old man who had been observing Li Sihui suddenly spoke up. Li Sihui frowned and looked at him. Did he see that there was snake venom in her body? Or did he want to save the money for the jar of honey by treating her?
Seeing Li Sihui looking at him with suspicion, the old man smiled, his eyes flashing with brilliance, his voice deep and strong, full of confidence.
"Girl, are you afraid that I will neglect your jar of honey?"
The smile on the old man's lips was kind, and Li Sihui felt that it was kind rather than malicious. She looked at him and spoke lightly, still not relaxing her vigilance: "No, I'm not sick, no need to see a doctor."
"Girl, you have a blue complexion, are overweight, always feel tired, have a feeling of being powerless, and sweat easily. Am I right?"
The old man smiled, ignoring Li Sihui's suspicious look, and continued to speak slowly.
"How do you know?"
Li Sihui looked at the old man. What he said was absolutely right. It seemed that he was quite capable.
"Don't worry, young lady. The patient is my old friend. He is generous and will not give you less than what you deserve. He will not give you more than you ask for. Your jar of honey is worth the price of 15 catties of flour. At most, I will give you 5 catties of coarse salt. Don't ask for too much, young lady. That's not good."
The old man smiled leisurely, picked up the teacup and drank tea slowly. He did not answer Li Sihui's words, but instead exposed what she was thinking.
"Scarcity makes things valuable. When I was collecting this honey, I was stung by the bees. You should know how difficult it is to collect wild honey."
Li Sihui curled her lips and sneered. She knew that he was trying to bargain and had no intention of giving in. His attitude was firm.
"Ha, how precious can it be? You're asking for so much, do you really think we'll give it to you?"
A lazy and cold voice came down from the stairs. Li Sihui looked up and saw a man wearing the same clothes as Zhao Jinchen, but without a hat. He had short hair like steel needles, which set off his evil and handsome face and gave people a very unruly feeling.
"Then there's no need to talk about it."
Li Sihui hated it most when others talked to her in a condescending manner. She picked up the jar of honey and turned away.
I would rather go to the market to exchange a pound of flour than do business with such a self-righteous person.
"Girl, there are people on the street catching people who sell goods illegally. They will have their tails cut off. Aren't you afraid?"
The middle-aged man who brought Li Sihui here spoke up in time. He was not threatening Li Sihui, but just reminding her that he was afraid that this rural girl would be arrested.
"I am afraid, but without food, my brother and I will starve to death. So between fear and death, I would rather choose the former."
Li Sihui turned around and looked up. Although she was at the bottom and the other party was standing on the stairs looking down at her, her aura was still not overwhelmed. She remained arrogant and stubborn.
"Interesting, this fat girl is fun, Uncle Wang, what does she want?"
The handsome young man smiled with one corner of his mouth, clapped his long, white hands and applauded Li Sihui, with a hint of admiration in his eyes as he looked at her.
"Zixu, she wants thirty kilograms of flour, thirty kilograms of rice, and five kilograms of coarse salt."
The middle-aged man, whom he called Uncle Wang, looked at the young man and answered.
The man named Zixu laughed, his laughter was deafening, and he laughed harder and harder, until tears came out.
Li Sihui glared at him impatiently. What was so funny about this? It was just a business deal, it was a matter of personal preference. No one was forcing him to buy.
"Fatty, you're asking for such a high price. Aren't you too greedy? Don't you think I can't find any other way except buying your honey?"
