Chapter 155 Dinner and Lottery

Well, the day before the Little New Year is the day when the entire company has a dinner together. This day is neither too fast nor too slow, giving them a week to prepare for welfare activities.

The employees who received the benefits were able to have a good New Year's Eve celebration the next day. Johnnie To and others were very satisfied with the timing they arranged.

Johnnie To, Zhang Wenjun, Chu Yao and Sister Liu were discussing whether to hold a raffle and what prizes to give during the dinner.

"This reward also needs to be divided. There should also be some rewards for those outstanding employees and those who have made progress."

"Okay, then let's brainstorm and see what prizes are suitable for everyone."

"How about the first prize being five black-and-white televisions?"

"Well, the second prize would be ten bicycles, and the third prize would be twenty sewing machines."

"Great, great, now we have basically completed the three major items. Now, how many people are needed for outstanding employees and progressive employees?"

"We have about 300 people in our factory and store. Let's split the rewards between the two. Ten people each in the store, and twenty people each in the factory."

"Okay, then let's talk about the prizes. Now that we have these three big things, what else can we do?"

"Isn't it too few to have only three people in the lottery?"

"Sister Liu, do you have any other ideas?"

"I just feel that there are too few people participating in the lottery. You know, we have a lot of workers. I'm worried that the problem is not the lack of money, but the inequality."

"Sister Liu is right. We were wrong. Then we can have more people participate in the lottery, but the prizes won't be as generous. How do you think?"

"That's fine. It's a lottery after all, so it doesn't matter much."

"Then let's think about what to do with these rewards later?"

"How about groceries?"

"Isn't this a huge difference? Now that we don't need coupons, we can buy a lot of daily necessities with money."

"Yes, it's different from that time. So let's think about what we can use to reward everyone?"

"How's the radio?"

"How about the watch?"

“How about just giving out money?”

Johnnie To, Zhang Wenjun, and Chu Yao spoke at the same time.

"How about twenty-five radios and thirty watches?"

"Okay, that's all the prizes for the raffle."

"For those who didn't win a prize, we can buy some small gifts for everyone. How about some vanishing cream or something, giving everyone a free box, or maybe malted milk or something, giving everyone a box as well?"

"Do you want another red envelope?"

"Will it be too conspicuous?"

"How about a bottle of malted milk and a box of vanishing cream for each person?"

"Okay, I'll give everyone the red envelopes when we start working next year. How about five dollars each?"

"That's fine, then we'll discuss something else."

Chu Yao and others were discussing the matter enthusiastically, also in the shops and factories. They had dinner parties in the past few years, but none of them had made them look forward to it so much.

There's no other reason. The main reason is that all four bosses are here this year, and things have been much more relaxed in recent years. The boss said he would take them to a good place, which has really raised their expectations.

Soon it was the day before the Little New Year in the north, and Chu Yao and the others were already prepared. Since there were so many of them, some restaurants outside could not accommodate them, so fortunately they changed the venue to the big cafeteria in the factory.

Fortunately, they had the foresight to build the factory into a place for work, accommodation and living, and fortunately, the land they bought was large enough.

As for the food, the chef team and service staff were hired from outside, which made the factory workers very happy because they could eat some different dishes.

"Have you heard? The chef who's cooking today is very famous. It's said that his ancestors were imperial chefs."

"Really? Then we're in for a treat."

"Yeah, I think I've gained more than a little weight since I started working at our factory."

"Not only that, the salary is high, and I can support my wife and children."

"Who says it's not? This was a heavenly life that we couldn't even imagine in the past."

"Our boss is such a good person. I must work hard to repay him."

"Also, I heard about this lucky draw. I wonder what the prizes are?"

"Really? I wonder who would be so lucky."

"What if I'm lucky enough to do this?"

"You really are a boaster."

"What's wrong with bragging? Don't you want to win the prize?"

"Yes, of course I do."

"Stop discussing this and move your things."

"Here I come, here I come."

Some workers were wondering what they were moving at this time?

When someone brought in a few boxes, they exclaimed in surprise. They were raffle prizes, snacks, drinks and the like.

Some sharp-eyed people also noticed several televisions. As for the boxes at the back, they just glanced at them quickly and found that they were not as attractive as the televisions.

In an era when rural net income was 309 yuan, a black-and-white TV set cost about 430 yuan, and they would have to save for two years without eating or drinking to afford it. (Baidu, the two years of saving here refers to the average family with only one able-bodied worker.)

Of course, workers in the city have higher wages, but only dual-income or multi-income families can afford to buy a TV. After all, they have to take care of the food and drink of the whole family.

How could this not excite them?

Just when everyone was excited, someone started putting melon seeds, peanuts, drinks and other snacks in front of them, and dishes were served one after another.
