Chapter 89 Returning Home

Chu Yao and the others have already packed their belongings for their return trip back home. There are so many things to take with them. Except for some of Yang Hang's things that cannot be moved, some of Chu Yao and the children's things will all be sent to Yao Jinnian, so that they will be much more relaxed when they go back after the New Year.

"A Zhao, please watch over your brothers and make sure they don't bring too much stuff. It's hard to carry them on the train." Chu Yao instructed Yang Zhao while packing her things.

"I know, Mom. My brothers and I didn't bring anything else."

Yang Zhao took his younger brothers to pack their own small bags. Of course, Yang Zhang and Yang Xuan wanted to take everything, even the little jumping frog.

"Brother, I want to take this little frog, this wooden sword, this chair, and this." Yang Zhang was holding a bunch of things in his hands, and he wanted to take this and that too.

Yang Hang and Chu Yao, who were standing next to them, were so upset that their foreheads twitched, but they did not say anything to intervene.

"Brother, you can't take this wooden sword. Have you forgotten that grandpa has a sword for you at home? And that chair, mom can't lift it." Yang Xuan, the youngest of the twins, persuaded Yang Zhang with a bitter face.

Yang Zhao ignored his brother's thoughts and decided to take all his books with him first.

After Chu Yao packed up her things, she realized that although she didn't have many things over the years, they filled up several large bags.

"Yang Hang, have you packed up the food we prepared for home? This is too much."

"It's already packed. I'll just make some pickled mustard greens for us to eat on the train tomorrow. Don't bring the rest. I'll go to town and mail it to Uncle Nian later."

"Okay, let's rest for a while, then I'll go cook and we'll go to town in the afternoon."

The two of them acted separately, Yang Hang went to the town to mail the items, and Chu Yao started to prepare food to bring tomorrow at home.

It's winter now, so you can bring a little bit of food and other things.

Chu Yao was busy for a long time before she prepared all the food for the train and packed it in a small bag. As for dinner, Chu Yao didn't want to cook anymore as she was really tired. She just ate some of the leftovers to fill her stomach.

The next morning the whole family started preparing to set off.

When Chu Yao and the others were going out, they happened to hear Mrs. Chen knocking on the door.

"Sister Yao, Yang Hang, this is a little gift from your sister-in-law. Please be careful on the road." Sister Chen choked up a little as she spoke. Sister Chu Yao also helped her, and the two of them got along well. So when Chu Yao was going to study, Sister Chen was happy for Chu Yao, but sad that they would not be able to see each other in the future.

"Mrs. Chen, I'm welcome. We will meet again. I will write to you later. Please remember to reply." Chu Yao was not as sentimental as Mrs. Chen. Chu Yao knew that they would definitely meet in the future.

"Okay, then you guys should hurry up and leave. I'll give you a ride."

Yang Zhao also bid farewell to his little friend Chen Zeyuan. The children were much more emotional, with snot and tears running together, which made the adults laugh and cry.

After bidding farewell to Mrs. Chen's family, Chu Yao felt a little unhappy, but it was okay. Today's farewell was for a better reunion in the future.

Before Yang Hang could start to comfort Chu Yao, Chu Yao had already let it go.

As for Johnnie To and Zhang Wenjun, they had said goodbye a few days ago. They were both from Kyoto and had not originally planned to take the college entrance examination, but they received letters from their families on the eve of the exam, so they also started reading.

They only had a few months to review, and their test scores weren't as ideal as Chu Yao's, but at least they were on the list.

After all, their families felt that they needed the bonus of academic qualifications.

The two people who dared not resist could only try to do something at the last minute.

Chu Yao collected her thoughts and took Yang Zhao and the others' hands and squeezed onto the train.

As the Chinese New Year was approaching, there were so many people wanting to go home that Chu Yao and Yang Hang were exhausted after finally getting on the bus and finding seats. Fortunately, Yang Hang managed to grab a sleeper ticket.

After resting for a while on the lower bunk, Chu Yao packed her luggage and went to sleep with the children after dinner. Yang Hang didn't sleep soundly because he had to pay attention to his things.

There were no crying or weird children on the train.

Chu Yao's family was not disturbed and got on and off the bus calmly.

Yang Hang sent a telegram to his family before returning, so as soon as they went out, they saw his brother Yang Ming already waiting outside the station.

"Ah Hang, sister-in-law, you're finally back. Mom and dad have been nagging me at home. If I can't pick you up today, I won't dare go home tonight."

"Sorry to trouble you, brother. Fortunately, we don't have much luggage this time. Let's go quickly. My bones are stiff from sitting in the car." Yang Hang said to Yang Ming.

Chu Yao also greeted Yang Ming, and then the group headed towards the ox cart.

There was a lot of activity on the ox carts going to Qiujia Brigade today.

"Oh, this is Yang Hang's family, right? I heard that you were admitted to Kyoto University." An aunt on the ox cart shouted enthusiastically.

Thanks to the aunt's loud voice, all the people near the ox cart turned to look at Chu Yao and his group.

Before Chu Yao climbed onto the ox cart, she was already feeling uncomfortable because of the stares coming from all directions. Seeing this, Yang Hang, who was standing next to her, immediately protected Chu Yao behind him and looked at the aunt who had just spoken with a sharp look.

Aunt Zhang, the aunt who had just spoken, felt embarrassed when Yang Hang looked at her. She curled her lips, rolled her eyes and turned her head away.

Seeing that Yang Hang had partially blocked her view, Chu Yao quickly carried the children onto the ox cart and then sat on it herself.
