Chapter 320: The King of Children

Before entering the house, Bi Sheng first observed his mother. Seeing Bi Yue sitting on the edge of the kang fiddling with the camera, he sneaked into the room and whispered to Bi Yue:

"Sister, give me two bowls of rice."

"What?"

Bi Sheng felt embarrassed. His inherent thinking mode made him think that rice was a precious thing and he couldn't even eat enough of it. He raised another finger and said:

"One bowl is fine. Then let's have a bowl of rice and a bowl of corn. Sister, hurry up, my brother is waiting at the popcorn place, next to the tree stump by the village committee. Our uncle Fang finally stopped wandering around the streets, let's hurry up!"

Bi Yue's eyes lit up:

"Popcorn poppers? Let's go and see the fun!" He muttered as he put on his coat.

"After the popcorn is out of the pot, I'll process it for you. I guarantee that you won't want to eat anymore. Let me tell you, Goudan, your sister's cooking skills are great. Old Man Mickey Mouse always eats that crappy stuff. What I make will definitely be more delicious than his!"

Bi Sheng didn't care about Mickey Mouse or not. He just knew his sister was just as greedy as he was. He led the way to the door, waiting to hear his mother scold his sister.

Is Bi Yue an ordinary person? She didn't act sneaky at all. She went into the kitchen, opened the bowl rack, and openly placed two large bowls in the rice bag and scooped out the rice.

"What are you doing?"

"Popcorn."

Liu Yafang dropped her spoon and came over to take a look:

"Oh my god! Are you a kid? You need rice for a snack? Using corn is enough..."

Bi Yue turned and left.

Liu Yafang was anxious: "Why didn't you bring it back with your hands instead of using the flour bag? Besides, how could you just make popcorn without saccharin?"

Bi Yue stopped, embarrassed. She didn't know that she also needed saccharin.

On a broken oil barrel less than half a meter high sat a black pot with a long round belly and a valve at the outlet.

The valve is very useful. If the popcorn in the pot is ready, put this outlet towards the opening of the sack, and all the popcorn will pop into it.

Pull, pull, tug, pull, pull, tug, as the bellows is pulled again and again, the flame on the simple furnace tube becomes brighter and brighter.

Two minutes, five minutes, eight minutes passed, and more and more half-grown children gathered around, chattering.

Some of the younger girls even put their fingers in their mouths.

The boys were a little bolder and shouted excitedly: "The fire is about to boil, comrades, retreat!"

Then a little leader covered his ears and ran away, followed by a group of children chasing him, sometimes running far away, sometimes running back, they were greedy and afraid.

The older ones, like Goudaner, who were truly half-grown children, seemed much calmer. They just stood in groups of three or five on the side, watching curiously.

Bi Yue was even more curious than anyone else. How could she have ever seen anything like this? In her previous life, she was born in the 1990s and had heard her older brothers and sisters talk about it when they were reminiscing about the past.

Guessing that Uncle Fang was almost done, he stood up, stuffed the long, round-bellied black pot into a torn sack, turned the valve with his hand, and exerted force with his foot. Bi Cheng pulled Bi Yue and asked her to cover her ears, while the children aged seven or eight and below had already scattered.

With a "bang", rice popcorn popped out along with white smoke.

The chirping children were shouting excitedly, and Bi Yue was also happy. She and Bi Cheng sighed foolishly, "Oh my god, one bowl can make so many."

Bi Cheng didn't bother to pay attention to his sister. He was watching Bi Sheng acting like a little adult and laughing.

Bi Sheng looked quite impressive. He stood aside and turned around to greet his friends:

"Come and eat, it smells delicious! Don't be polite, don't be polite, it's my treat!"

Well, with this order, everyone came over to grab the freshly popped popcorn, whether you knew it or not.

As children from the same village, Bi Yue and Bi Yue also greeted them consciously, "Come on, come on, come forward and eat, let's eat together."

Bi Yue hurried home, she had to get some more rice. She had just grabbed a handful of five-year-old popcorn, but it was definitely not as fragrant as the rice popcorn. Passing by her neighbor's house, she held a plastic bag and shouted:

"Apricot? Apricot? Look, what is this? Go, take it for me and your brother to eat. Don't run around in the yard, you'll catch a cold easily."

A four-year-old girl with pigtails ran over and looked up at Bi Yue politely:

"I don't want any more. I haven't finished the oil tea noodles and long white cakes that my sister brought. If my mother sees me not finishing them, she'll beat me up."

"It's okay, just say I gave it to you. Here, you can eat it first. I'll fry it with sugar in various shapes tonight. They'll be so pretty. I'll bring it to you then."

Bi Yue really likes this little girl.

She is not the prettiest among the children, but she is so sensible that it makes people feel upset.

Shanxing's father went to the city every day and squatted at the door of the supply and marketing cooperative. If anyone needed some odd jobs, he would take his tools and go to their house to do the work.

As for the little girl's mother, she also stopped hiring people during the first month of the year. She was a good cook and would cook for weddings or birthdays to earn some money.

There were two children left at home every day, one four years old and the other two years old. The four-year-old Shanxing could still stand on a bench and heat up rice and light the fire very skillfully.

Liu Yafang was helpless and scolded Bi Yue with a smile, "You're just like your father! You two are a pair of prodigal sons. Your father treated people to drinks, and you treated their children to popcorn. You two are just two of us!"

You said that your brother-in-law sent your sister-in-law back to the county. I thought it would be a relaxing day, so I took her daughter out for a walk or something. Then I looked at Bi Yue, who was running around, taking pictures and eating.

Six pots of it, and it took over an hour to fry. It was frozen for Bi Yue, wearing Gou Dan'er's sweat-soaked cotton hat and Bi Cheng's gray wool scarf. She didn't try to be cool anymore. Liu Yafang had been nagging her to wear a hat and gloves these days, but she always said, "I'll cover them up when I go out driving."

At this moment, except for the black coat that showed her waist and the shiny leather shoes, she looked like a city girl. From her expression and appearance, she was a real country girl.

Bi Yue crossed her hands and put them in her coat sleeves. She sniffed as she spoke, and her feet moved back and forth. However, she was quite happy about this. With a smile in her eyes, she asked Gou Dan'er:

"How much is one pot? Hey brother, that's enough. Give them the money and let's go home."

"Fifty cents a shot."

Bi Yue's expression froze. Fire one?

Okay, she's dirty.

Bi Yue raised her chin in the direction of Uncle Fang and instructed her two younger brothers, "Who of you will pay the money?"

Uncle Fang and Bi Cheng pushed each other back and forth: "You can't take it. We live in the same village. There are some things about firewood, but it takes a lot of effort, and there are no workers or materials. You, kid, take it back quickly and tell your father. I'll go over to check on him later."

When Bi Cheng arrived, he stuffed the money in his pocket and ran off. Meanwhile, Bi Yue, riding on Bi Sheng's coattails, had several other young men following him, like stars surrounding the moon. The group left early in the morning. (To be continued.)
