Bi Yue lay on Chu Yifeng's back. The two people, both wet, were rubbing their ears against each other on a relatively remote shore as the breeze blew.
With one hand tightly hugging Chu Yifeng's neck and the other hand stretching out five fingers in the sunlight, Bi Yue looked at the golden ring and smiled:
"When did you buy it?"
“When I went on a mission outside, I accompanied the captain of the First Squadron, Lu Qingcang.
He was buying a ring for his mother, and I was afraid he didn't have enough money, so I accompanied him for a walk.
It turned out to be true.
Most rings have a small flower on them, or they are made of living things, which is quite ugly.
I was thinking of getting you a necklace, this one, the crescent moon necklace, I loved it right away. I don't have necklaces with moon pendants, but I'll get you a set instead."
Bi Yue covered her lips with the hand wearing the ring and chuckled, "Wealthy and powerful." She then stretched out her hand in front of Chu Yifeng to show him off:
"Look, isn't it beautiful? You have good taste, I like it."
Chu Yifeng grinned and laughed foolishly, his heart blossoming with joy at the praise:
"Well, if you were that guy, I hope you would be as fond of praising people as you are now."
A slap slapped Chu Yifeng on the arm: "You are annoying."
The two of them laughed and talked a lot of meaningless things. Chu Yifeng looked at the sight of tourists not far away, thought for a while, and paused for a long time before saying:
"Yue, we need to go back. This has delayed your class."
Bi Yue didn't reply.
Instead, she hugged Chu Yifeng's neck tighter and put her face against Chu Yifeng's face as a response.
…
In the plastic bag in the back seat of the car were shell wind chimes bought for Bi Cheng and Bi Sheng, a shell necklace for Liang Xiaoxiao, and the local specialty Yang Changzi.
Chu Yifeng could sense that Bi Yue was reluctant to leave, because the girl kept looking back at the road she came from when she was leaving the city.
During the short two-day trip, Chu Yifeng didn't ask what Bi Yue would think of him like in her memory.
But he knows himself.
Do you like her so much? No one else can replace her?
His previous answer was that he wouldn't have the same feeling, but now it was that no one could replace him.
He finally understood what sharing meant.
It used to be very simple. So simple that I gave and you accepted, which meant that I had you in my heart.
Now, Chu Yifeng took Bi Yue's hand and placed it on his lips:
Share imperfections, share embarrassment, share awkwardness, share the truest side of him that is hidden deep in his heart.
When two people are together, they are not afraid of making a fool of themselves. Even those embarrassing scenes can become the most beautiful memories.
Intertwining their fingers, Chu Yifeng promised:
"If you have the chance to come again in the future, as long as my teeth are still intact and my legs can still walk, I will try my best to accompany you to wherever you want to go."
Is this credible?
Bi Yue thought dejectedly:
I said I miss you, so you come to see me, okay?
But she didn't say it. What's the point of saying that?
You didn't know that the person you were looking for was a soldier? You can't blame them later, that's not fair.
…
The car sped along the road and arrived in Kyoto at dinner time.
Bi Tiegang and Goudan had just locked their bicycles when Chu Yifeng's car turned into the community.
When the father and son were about to raise their hands to knock on the door, Chu Yifeng in front and Bi Yue behind had already gone upstairs.
Chu Yifeng went upstairs and turned back and said:
"Let's throw the things in the house and go out to cook."
In the end, Bi Yue didn't reply, but looked behind him in a daze.
"What have you been doing?!"
Bi Tiegang was hunching his back slightly, with his hand raised as if to knock on the door, staring at Bi Yue with his brows furrowed.
"Uncle?" Chu Yifeng was also stunned.
"I asked you what you were doing?!" Bi Tiegang continued to question Bi Yue who was standing on the stairs across Chu Yifeng, without even looking at Chu Yifeng.
Chu Yifeng quickly took two big steps up the stairs and stepped forward to support Bi Tiegang:
"Uncle, let's go inside and talk. I'll open the door right away."
Bi Tiegang swung his arm, shook off Chu Yifeng's hand, stopped looking at Bi Yue, and looked down at the travel bag in Chu Yifeng's hand.
Bi Sheng opened his mouth slightly towards Bi Yue, wanting to give her some hint but not knowing where to start.
As soon as the door closed, Bi Tiegang didn't even enter the living room. He pointed at Bi Yue who was about to change her shoes and cursed in a deep voice:
"Get out of here and pack your things!"
Chu Yifeng took a step forward, blocking Bi Tiegang's sight, and also blocking Bi Yue behind him, and explained: "Uncle, listen to me."
Bi Tiegang waved his hand impatiently and interrupted: "I have nothing to say to you. I am taking care of my own daughter, it is not your turn."
Pointing at Bi Yue again, he asked:
"Tell me yourself, why do you live here? What do you do?
You don’t even go to class. What big thing has happened to make you like this?
I provide you with this, right?!"
Bi Yue stood aside with her bags in her hands, looking very obedient. However, she was brave enough to confess her mistake. She looked up and met Bi's father's eyes.
"I went on a trip. I went to Qinhuangdao."
"You? You!" Bi Tiegang's finger trembled as he pointed at Bi Yue.
Chu Yifeng took a deep breath, looked at Bi's father's anxious state, and quickly stepped forward to interject:
"Uncle, it's me. I'm not on vacation anymore. I was the one who asked her to..."
Bi Tiegang, who was furious, could not hit or scold Bi Yue. Chu Yifeng happened to pick up the conversation. He suddenly turned his head and looked directly into Chu Yifeng's eyes, and said angrily:
"You're on vacation? You're on vacation and you're urging her to go out and play?
She's still a student, did you know?
Didn’t you know there was a class today? The teacher didn’t even notice her. Is this the kind of soldier you are?”
