There was a black shadow leaning on the wall, and first threw a black bag into the Bi family yard. It was the sound of the black bag falling to the ground that attracted Bi Cheng to open the door and look out.
The door closed again, and the Bi family's courtyard, coupled with the windowless kitchen, looked extremely desolate.
The black shadow quickly jumped off the courtyard wall, and like a ghost, it moved back and forth at high speed, heading straight for Bi Yue's boudoir.
Bi Yue's room was pitch black, with only moonlight shining on the window lattice.
She was facing the wall, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, when she felt someone breathing hot air behind her. Her hair stood on end instantly, and before she could turn around, she shouted with a trembling voice:
"who?"
"Shh, me."
Bi Yue sat up, clutching her chest, a look of fear still on her face.
"You're going to scare people to death, don't you know? Every time someone enters my house, there's a noise. You're acting like a petty thief!"
Chu Yifeng was a little embarrassed, rubbing Bi Yue's forehead with his big palm, and explained:
"Isn't this a special case?
Can't I go through the main door?
Your father wanted me to go home and sleep, and he wouldn't let me in at all.
Keep your voice down and don't let them yell at you." Then he started rummaging through his pockets.
Bi Yue was dumbfounded.
Why is this person here so late at night?
Peanuts, braised pig's trotters, donkey tendons, meatballs, cakes...
Chu Yifeng opened the lunch box and handed it to Bi Yue like a treasure, complaining a little:
"I'm almost starving. Two lousy fish for breakfast and seafood for lunch, but neither is enough to fill me up. We haven't even finished cooking yet, and we're being separated by a bunch of people. What's going on?"
Bi Yue looked down at the fried tripe, surprised that there was sesame sauce as a dipping sauce, and said speechlessly:
"You're not sleeping at night and you're coming to my house for a spring outing? Do you have to be so exaggerated?"
Chu Yifeng wanted to say that he was used to it. He was used to eating with Bi Yue these days and doing everything together.
But back in the army, this was not a good habit, so he said nothing and handed Bi Yuejiang the pig's trotter:
"Go ahead and chew it. You haven't eaten dinner yet."
"Turn on the light?"
"Don't turn on the light. Your older brother isn't asleep yet. Dacheng is slow to react. If he starts yelling at your parents, I'll be so embarrassed. Let's eat in the dark."
Bi Yue took the pig's paw and looked up at Chu Yifeng who was biting the cake.
"So when you climbed over the wall into the yard just now, did you see any broken glass?"
Chu Yifeng licked his fingers, tilted his head and glanced at Bi Yue. He didn't want to tell the truth because he was afraid that Bi Yue would be embarrassed.
After all, when he left, the girl was crying and admitting her mistake.
"Then how do you know I didn't eat dinner?"
Chu Yifeng threw a donkey tendon into his mouth and said vaguely, "It's not good for you to be so smart."
Bi Yue threw the braised pig's trotters back into the lunch box, knelt down and hugged herself, then looked out the window at the quiet courtyard:
"You came when my parents were arguing, didn't you? Goudan said so.
Oh! You said...
It was really chaotic. This was their first fight, and it was all because of me. I was afraid it would scare Gou Dan'er."
"How old is he? How can he be scared? Don't let your imagination run wild. I'm afraid of scaring you."
Bi Yue shook her head:
“Then he’ll complain.
If your parents were to go to jail because of your sister, wouldn't you blame them?
We watched them fight with our own eyes, neither of us got the upper hand, one got kicked, the other got scratched...
I asked Goudan if he blamed me. Do you know what he said?
Chu Yifeng could sense that Bi Yue was eager to talk to him, so he just listened:
"What did you say?"
"He said if I dared to run away from home again, he would know what resentment was. He also said that you seemed to be here and asked if I would lose face."
Chu Yifeng was very frank:
"I've been following you in my car. I drive slower than an oxcart, and I know basically everything that goes on in your house.
I didn't enter the hospital at first.
I said, your neighbors right in front of you are not very well behaved, right? I just watched from there to save them from watching the fun.
Bi Yue was originally quite melancholy, but although Chu Yifeng's words were spoken in a very serious manner, she just felt that they were a bit funny.
He was still watching? What was he doing? Standing at the gate, staring at the onlookers?
Chu Yifeng still had a serious look on his face, not daring to speak carelessly. He touched Bi Yue's forehead again and said affirmatively:
“It’s been like that since ancient times.
It's not shameful for children to bow to their parents. When I was a child, I confessed my mistakes to my father every few days.
In fact, many times, think about it, what is the point of arguing with them about right and wrong?
We just have to do what we should do.
Even if I say something wrong, I haven't lost any meat, right? I'm just trying to make them feel better."
"That's right, otherwise they'd just keep complaining and crying. My dad looks so... so pitiful.
I don't understand. I'm not like what they said. I don't think they need to be capable or something to get what they want. I'd be thankful if they just kept quiet.
You have to scold me and then hate me.
In the end, I still have to bow my head.
Isn't it always the old that give way to the young? Parents give in to their children? But in my case, it's the other way around."
Chu Yifeng rubbed the back of Bi Yue's head: "You are sensible. Whoever is sensible will suffer. Every family is like that."
Bi Yue hid under Chu Yifeng's palm, touched her hair and smelled it, and said with disgust:
"Your hands are covered in grease, don't touch me. Eat yours."
Crunch, crunch, the sound of Chu Yifeng chewing peanuts made a crisp sound, especially in the quiet of the middle of the night, which made the chewer's heart uneasy. Bi Yue frowned and thought angrily:
