Liang Xiaoxiao was so angry at Bi Tielin's relatively cold attitude that her face turned pink and she followed behind him in a depressed mood.
But as soon as they got on the bus, Bi Tielin reached out his hand. While pretending to help Liang Xiaoxiao take off her backpack, he took the opportunity to touch the girl's back with his big hand and said:
"Is it hot? My back is all sweaty and my clothes are damp."
"Hmph." Liang Xiaoxiao didn't notice anything and just pouted unhappily.
Bi Tielin pinched the girl's chubby little face and found two black fingerprints. He first rubbed his hand on his pants, then continued pinching, wiping the girl's face clean as he pinched, and asked, "What's wrong?"
Liang Xiaoxiao looked out the car window and outside, but not at Bi Tielin:
"What's with your attitude? It seems like you don't welcome me. I was the one who requested to come here repeatedly. It's embarrassing enough, and you still have this attitude."
Ah, that's what happened.
Bi Tielin explained: "I really don't want you to come."
Liang Xiaoxiao turned around and glared.
Is this person good at speaking? What about their emotional intelligence? What about their IQ? Has their heart changed because they've made so much money?
Bi Tielin grinned. "I'm really glad you're here. Xiaoxiao, but I can only take you to the city for a good meal later. After that, you have to come back with me to the construction site. They all have communal meals there. These days, we're 24 hours a day, with more than a dozen trucks hauling coal every few hours. I sleep only three hours a day, so I really can't leave."
Having said that, Bi Tielin started the car and continued to explain while looking at the rearview mirror:
"You finally have a day off, but you're stuck at the construction site with me. I can't go hiking or strolling with you, or eat something good with you. How much suffering do you have to endure?"
Hearing this, Liang Xiaoxiao felt heartbroken instantly.
She wanted to continue to act like a spoiled child and throw a tantrum, but she didn't want to throw a tantrum, so her pouting expression said:
"You're such a nuisance. Who's looking for you to play with? You're quite old, what can you do? I just came to see you and keep an eye on you. I'm afraid there's some beautiful woman at your construction site."
Bi Tielin laughed and said, "What about a beautiful lady, a coal girl? There are dozens of coal girls in the coal mines, all working as communal meals in various mines. There's not even a picture of a beautiful lady. What do you want to eat? Let's have a good meal and let you feel my sincerity in welcoming you. Stop pouting."
Along the way, both of them suppressed their excited emotions and chatted about the most ordinary things.
"Bi Tielin, why did you buy another car? Won't your car be confiscated?"
"Yeah, it's smuggling. It's not strictly controlled here. Someone gave me a license plate number, a small government number, so no one stopped me."
"Then how do you drive back to Kyoto?"
"What are you driving? Just give it to the manager. It's convenient for running back and forth to the city to do things. When you settle down and return to Kyoto, we'll buy a better one."
Liang Xiaoxiao's face immediately revealed an expression of reminiscence:
"I can still remember the first time you drove that broken Xiali. You drove so hard, one foot deep, one foot shallow. Several times, I almost crashed into the car window with your driving skills. You even used a towel to wipe it every day like it was your treasure. Actually, it didn't take long, did it? But it feels like years to me."
The two people in the car instantly changed their mindsets as the words fell.
When the girl talked about the past, she felt a sense of accomplishment from the bottom of her heart. She was proud of accompanying a man, building something from nothing, and making her life better and better.
Bi Tielin felt a little embarrassed about bringing this up.
He really hoped that Liang Xiaoxiao could forget all the things that happened in the early days of his business and remember that he was a strong and powerful man who had never used a rag to clean Xiali as if it were a treasure.
Bi Tielin held Liang Xiaoxiao's hand tightly and put it to his lips, and interrupted a little embarrassedly:
"Hmm? What do you want to eat? I'll try my best to satisfy you today, no matter what flies in the sky or runs on the ground."
The man started thinking logically again. He didn't talk about emotional topics with the girl, but instead introduced Liang Xiaoxiao to what the city had, what natural landscapes it had, and as for food, he told her not to underestimate this place and which restaurants had good food.
He spoke eloquently and gave a comprehensive introduction.
"Let's eat noodles."
"Really want to eat noodles? Want something good?"
Liang Xiaoxiao stared at Bi Tielin's profile and thought to herself: dumplings on board, noodles off board. I want to tie myself to noodles so that I can always be by your side. Nodding, she said:
"Well, isn't this place famous for its noodles?"
Bi Tielin turned around immediately. He thought the girl really wanted to try the specialties, so he started introducing them again:
"Sure. They're famous for their knife-cut noodles, cat ears noodles, flatbread, and buckwheat noodles. I'll take you there. They also have Pingyao beef. Try it. It's quite authentic."
Liang Xiaoxiao ate noodles that could tie her legs and feet. They were steaming hot, salty, and delicious. Perhaps it was because Bi Tielin sat next to her, staring at her constantly, that she thought they were truly delicious. As she slurped the noodles, she occasionally smiled at Bi Tielin.
Bi Tielin wiped the chili oil off Liang Xiaoxiao's lips with his thumb. He didn't notice that the girl didn't forget to be affectionate with him while eating. Instead, he said worriedly:
"After we leave the city, I'll buy you some yellow rice cakes and some steamed buns for you to try. If you're not used to the big pot meals, you can eat the cakes. I'll cook for you after I empty the pot."
At this point, he noticed that Liang Xiaoxiao was not paying attention while eating, so he pointed at the bowl and scolded her:
"Eat, and stop looking at me. If it's not enough, give me another bowl."
In one word, the girl pouted again.
…
On the way back, although Bi Tielin didn't say he was anxious, Liang Xiaoxiao noticed that he frequently raised his wrist to check his watch. She helped watch the road, occasionally answering Bi Tielin's questions about how she lied and whether her father was worried about her.
Bi Tielin accelerated and accelerated all the way. Sure enough, as soon as Bi Tielin's car turned into the construction site, someone ran over and called him.
