Chapter 544: The Real Master Returns (Part 2)
The reason Bi Tielin came back was initially because of the ramblings of his niece Fu Juan on the phone:
"Uncle, since neither you nor my eldest uncle came back, some people were gossiping about how our family built a small building, but it immediately became unpopular and our family was not prosperous, saying it was a sign of failure.
Some people didn't dare to say it to my mother in front of her, but I heard it all when I returned to the village. They said that my mother divorced because our family didn't do the first pry when building the foundation of the house, and didn't come back to set off firecrackers after the work was done.
This time, my aunt and my sister Yue were returning home. As soon as we got off the car, someone whispered that the person returning was a woman or something. Anyway, I just thought it was unpleasant. When you have time, come back and show them.
In rural areas, weddings, funerals, and building a house are truly major events. If a family is particular about it, they will invite relatives and friends to their home for a meal and a hot pot. It would be considered unsightly if the family didn't come back to join the family.
Let everyone see it, it’s okay.
Just then, the last and largest payment for the coal had arrived. I made a few more calls to Secretary Zhang in Kyoto and heard that the government expansion bidding would begin soon. With all the connections, construction companies had already started activities.
Precisely because of the above points, Bi Tielin, who should have finally had a sound sleep in his arms with Liang Xiaoxiao at night, tossed and turned like a pancake with something on his mind. He suddenly sat up and announced to Liang Xiaoxiao loudly that he had to go talk to Bi Yue and it was time to go back to his hometown.
So the first thing he did after getting off the car was to set off firecrackers, letting everyone hear the noise and come out to see him, wondering who said only family members had returned from the Bi family.
"Oh my God!" The first one to walk out was my great uncle. He threw his bowl of rice on the table, half a beat faster than Liu Yafang: "Tie Lin is back!" After he shouted, a group of people followed him.
Liu Yafang wiped her hands on her apron and trotted out of the kitchen. "Tie Lin? Why are you back? Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"
Bi Tielin dealt with more than ten people with one mouth, answering one and then another.
Bi Yue stood in the living room, legs crossed, looking at the front door. Suddenly, it felt like a blink of an eye, and there was a commotion outside the doorway. People were rushing in from the yard one after another. Her eyes widened. Huh? Who's that in the apricot-yellow shirt? Xiaoxiao!
At this moment, Liu Dapeng was no longer the honored guest. He quickly threw the half steamed bun in his hand onto the table and asked Bi Yue, "Who's back?"
"My uncle. Eat yours and sit down."
As Bi Yue spoke, she walked out in her slippers and waved to Liu Dapeng and the two drivers.
Amidst the noise, Liu Yafang asked Liang Xiaoxiao, "Why are you here?" The question wasn't very friendly, but her real intention was more of a puzzlement.
Liang Xiaoxiao could only smile twice, her face slightly red, not sure if it was from the sun or from being stared at by a group of people.
Women were also good at finding out gossip, unlike the bunch of old men who gathered around Bi Tielin to chat.
Some were lying on the courtyard wall, some were trying to squeeze in when there was a chance, in short, everyone wanted to listen.
When Liu Yafang asked this question, the aunts and sisters who were full of gossip in their hearts all pricked up their ears and looked at Liang Xiaoxiao curiously with their eyes wide open.
Bi Yue just happened to rush over, tugged at the corner of Liu Yafang's clothes, signaling her mother to be nicer, and held Liang Xiaoxiao's hand. For some reason, the look her uncle gave her just now made her a little at a loss, and she didn't dare to look him in the eye.
Everyone thought Bi Tielin was busy, and with so many people asking questions, they wouldn't notice this little episode. But then Bi Tielin called out to his neighbor, Fatty, who loved spreading gossip the most in the village: "Fatty, this is my girlfriend. Bring her home to see me."
This introduction caused an uproar, and everyone started talking at once.
The fat lady patted Liu Yafang's arm twice, complaining that she was not nice enough. Why didn't she tell her about this as soon as she got back? She laughed and said:
"Tielin, I can tell you're definitely not going back to the countryside to find a partner. Look at this pretty girl, is she from the city?"
Bi Tielin turned his head and glanced at Liang Xiaoxiao in the crowd, smiling proudly: "Yes, Xiaoxiao, these are old neighbors of ours who have lived in the village for decades."
The fat lady was full of enthusiasm. She walked around Bi Yue and grabbed Liang Xiaoxiao's hand, exaggerating as if she were her own brother or sister:
"Oh, I was wondering if your family is having a double celebration. I just heard yesterday that your eldest niece got married to an officer, and now you've brought back a new wife from the city. Hurry up and get inside! If it were me, you should pack up and head to the back hills to kowtow to your parents and tell them about all the great news."
Bi Tielin had a smile on his face, but after hearing this, he looked at Liu Yafang and then at Bi Yue again.
Bi Yue didn't know why, but she was a little afraid of her uncle and scratched her head at the mess.
Not to mention Bi Yue was scared, even Liu Dapeng, who was smiling at the edge of the bustling crowd, was secretly puzzled.
No wonder the madman's father-in-law is not an ordinary farmer's family. He is the most capable person in the family and he always has the final say. This uncle is not an easy person to get along with.
Just as he thought, when his uncle and Liu Yafang introduced Liu Dapeng together, Bi Tielin still had a smile on his face when he shook hands with Liu Dapeng, but he frowned slightly when he raised his eyebrows.
Liu Dapeng just caught this detail.
…
Liang Xiaoxiao blushed, ignoring the teasing looks from the women in and outside the courtyard. She followed Liu Yafang into the kitchen and whispered, "Sister-in-law, sister-in-law?"
When Liu Yafang heard this name, she turned her head to look at Liang Xiaoxiao's tender little face, and she felt uncomfortable all over.
"Can I help you with something?"
Liu Yafang pointed to the open kitchen door, which led to the living room, and said in a low and serious voice:
"With so many people here, who can't help? Hurry up and go upstairs with Dani'er to wash and tidy up. Stop hanging around downstairs. Have you eaten yet?"
