That afternoon, the groom Chu Yifeng received a gift, an antique: an inkstone.
Feeling guilty, he threw the bag of candies to everyone, then took a few candies and the first draft and went to his immediate boss's office to communicate.
After I came back, I received two phone calls amidst a chorus of congratulations.
One is from the mother.
Chu Yifeng was worried sick when he heard that his aunt had returned and Chu Ci was still playing football outside without knowing it.
Afraid that Chu Ci would say something harsh and hurt his aunt who had just returned, he suggested that his mother bring it back to his father during dinner.
On the phone, he suppressed his anger and refused to ask about his sister. He also spoke a few words to Zhang Jingan on the phone, apologizing and saying that his aunt had finally returned.
The second call was from the club's men.
The only person in the club who could talk directly to Chu Yifeng at the moment was named Tong, a Manchu, and also an old Kyoto native. Before coming to him, he was also respectfully called Master Tong in the alley.
One of them is surnamed Guan, he is over sixty years old, and Chu Yifeng calls him Uncle Guan.
There's also a man named Kang, in his early twenties, unmarried and family-free, yet very stable. He's a former comrade. Due to injury, he was transferred here during last year's major military layoffs. His role is to guard the compound and oversee the accounts, but he doesn't participate in management or hospitality.
This time, the person who called him was the eloquent "Second Master Tong."
The first question left Chu Yifeng stunned: Is the father-in-law the real father-in-law? When did you get married?
After that, Tiegang came to the door with a small truck and a guy, holding an address list.
When we got there, we unloaded the goods without saying a word. There was half a truck full of wine at all prices.
They found cardboard boxes too cumbersome, so they used duct tape bags to pack the cigarettes, carrying them into the yard one bag at a time, which frightened the three of them and made them look at each other in confusion.
Regardless of whether it's true or not, I tried to persuade him: "This place doesn't need mid-range or below-average alcohol, right? Same with cigarettes. For the first three months after opening, there will only be 20 tables outside. This is called a soft opening, and you need a membership card. Without a card, it's useless, no matter who you ask."
But no matter how much he was persuaded, Bi Tiegang just didn't understand.
He meant well. My son-in-law was opening a restaurant. How could you open a restaurant without these things? It's not like his family has run a restaurant before, so he's just kidding. Perhaps my son-in-law was embarrassed to let him spend money? He didn't say a word, just carrying it out to the yard.
So, I had no choice but to make the call and had to disturb the person who was responsible, Chu Yifeng.
"Let my father-in-law answer the phone."
When Butler Tong heard this, he said with some embarrassment, "I have to go find him for you now. He must have wandered off and lost his way."
Bi Tiegang walked through the crowd, dumbfounded all the way, and couldn't help but shake off the dust on his body as he walked.
Oh my god, is this a prince's mansion or a princess's mansion? No wonder it cost hundreds of thousands.
It is obvious at first glance that it has a great background. It faces south and even the roads are divided into three parts: the middle, the east and the west.
There are seven main halls on the middle road, and there are auxiliary buildings on the left and right, including the rear hall, rear bedroom, and rear awning building.
The rear hall is now decorated like a hotel suite where one can rest, and there is also a tea room, a chess and card room, etc.
The west courtyard is a series of small halls connected together. It looks like a semi-open space, and you can see the pond when you open the window.
Bi Tiegang was furious with Chu Yifeng. How stinky would this pond be if it wasn't cleaned properly? Who would even sit there and eat? This was all unnecessary!
He turned to the east courtyard and became even more angry.
Such a nice house actually has such a big room with the word "Treasury" written on it.
It's just a warehouse, isn't it? Are you bullying him because he hasn't been educated?
You said there is plenty of space at home, and we can set up a few tables for entertaining guests after opening it up.
Oh, my child is too young to be calculating. How much more does it cost to set up an extra table? How much more per day? How much more per year?
When Bi Tiegang saw the word "kitchen servant", he also saw the chef.
The pastry chef was puzzled: "Who are you?"
"I'm Chu Yifeng's father-in-law."
"Ah? I haven't heard that Master Chu got married?" The other party was slightly stunned. Regardless of whether it was true or not, he waved his hand and said, "This side is either a warehouse or a kitchen, and the residence for us staff. There's nothing interesting to see. Please go to the main courtyard."
When Bi Tiegang heard this, his heart was bleeding.
What a prodigal child, and what a master Chu, he deserves to be spanked with two shoe soles!
How can they afford to live in such a nice courtyard? There are plenty of apartments for rent out there. How much can one person get for a room?
The father-in-law with a smoking throat finally came back.
Being dazed by the sun and the swaying lights, I was confused and accidentally pushed open a door. Just as I was about to close it, I saw something out of the corner of my eye and my first reaction was: Oh my god!
Bi Tiegang tiptoed into the private room and began scratching the wall with his hands, thinking it was real gold. After carefully identifying it, he found that it was the color of Du Shang. He looked at it in surprise, backed away, raised his head and muttered to himself:
"Is this a restaurant? How can we even eat here? Anyone who eats will burp. I've entered a little palace."
With a "bang", the screen was knocked down by him.
Bi Tiegang immediately went to hold the screen, and looked towards the door like a thief, as if he was afraid of being caught and having to pay compensation.
Chu Yifeng's retired subordinate immediately picked up the phone: "Brother Chu, wait a moment. I can find him."
…
With a sad face and sighing, Bi Tiegang returned home early with half a plastic bag of sour plum soup. As soon as he entered the yard, he asked Liu Yafang, "Where is our girl?"
Liu Yafang popped her head out of the smoky, fragrant kitchen and shouted back, "What are you talking about? I don't understand. I'm almost home. Why are you back so early?"
Bi Tiegang ignored his wife.
"My daughter's marriage certificate is in the drawer in the room. Go take a look."
