Chapter 687: Two Chapters Combined into One

Bi Yue was driving the car with all the bags and packages. When the two babies were already fast asleep in the car, her small 40-square-meter house was also fully equipped.

The furniture, refrigerator, color TV and washing machine were in place, and a few soldiers set them up in no time.

Wang Daniu swept the floor, sprinkled water, and locked the door with great efficiency. When he entered the command tent and saw Chu Yifeng and was about to report, Chu Yifeng waved to him, called him over and whispered:

"You drive my car and go to the intersection to pick up your sister-in-law. She's familiar with you and she's very strong-willed. She'll definitely buy a lot of things, and it's too much for two kids to carry. Help her carry them. Also, tell her to let her mother and her kids make do with a meal first and not bother going out to buy groceries or anything like that. I'll go get them when I'm done here."

Wang Daniu glanced at Chu Yifeng's epaulettes and rank, and agreed painfully: "Yes!"

But as I left the house, I wondered: Why is the colonel so awkward going to the market? Wouldn't the common people be looking at him like he's watching a spectacle? I guessed it was the head of the nearby military district.

Wang Daniu had no idea that Chu Yifeng had already gone for a stroll in the morning market with a baby on his shoulders and a baby on his neck.

As soon as the three of them left, the vendors at the morning market started pointing and talking.

With Wang Daniu's arrival, Bi Yue felt much more relaxed when she got home.

She was embarrassed to ask her family members to help her with the chores. Who doesn't have to cook? Who doesn't have children? Who doesn't have a lot to do? But she felt comfortable asking Wang Daniu.

The two of them laid the carpet and hung curtains together, and Bi Yue even made wontons for the children.

So when Chu Yifeng arrived home, Bi Yue had already wiped the two children's faces and hands, changed them into pajamas, and gave each of them a banana. The two babies were lying leisurely in their own little beds.

Bi Yue was kneeling on the floor, scrubbing the carpet all over the room. When she heard the door open, she turned around and was startled:

"Where did you buy so much meat and vegetables? Oh, and fruit too. Are there still vendors setting up stalls so late? Sister Cui said the market has chased them away, and they can only be bought at the morning market. I was thinking of getting up early tomorrow."

Get up early?

Chu Yifeng's hands were full, and he took off his military cap, his forehead covered in sweat. He didn't answer, but grinned at his wife and children. He then stalked to the door, and his son called him, "Dad, that's dirty! Lock it up!"

Chu Yifeng couldn't stand his son's mysophobia. You said it's okay for his daughter to be like this. It's really worrying for a little boy like that. A two-year-old is already causing a lot of trouble.

"Yeah, Guan. I remember that. This is our home, Dad, you have to take care of it, okay?"

The little dragon man then lay down with peace of mind, biting his banana foot and shaking it: "Yes."

Bi Yue forgot to throw away the rag in her hand and stepped forward to take the pile of things: "I'm asking you? Where did you get this?"

"I went to the butcher's house to buy it from the vegetable vendor. Are you planning to treat my men to a meal?"

"Yeah, I'm here now, so I have to treat you after I'm done. Isn't that right? I was thinking of buying it tomorrow morning and treating you tomorrow night."

"Look, it's a good thing I went. It was hard for me to carry it. If you brought these two with you, how would you get it back tomorrow?"

Bi Yue didn't appreciate it at all. She carried things into the kitchen and complained:

"Look, you should just focus on your own business. I can do it myself. I can take them to the county today. What can't they buy in town and ship back? Besides, you went there in your military uniform? You should change into casual clothes. It really affects your image."

Chu Yifeng did not respond to this.

The children had another special meal with him, which included scrambled eggs with tomatoes, beef stew with potatoes, and celery with peanuts, all made by his wife. He ate three bowls of rice.

He then took the two babies to drink milk, brush their teeth and take a bath. After they fell asleep, he squatted in front of Bi Yue, washed her feet and massaged her legs. Before he wanted to hug his wife and start having sex, he replied:

"Yue, you, you can do anything in a day, so what do you need me for?

You are too strong-willed.

Just yesterday we agreed that Rome wasn't built in a day.

What happened? It was exactly as I expected. I guessed you were eager to treat everyone to a meal.

If I hadn't told Wang Daniu, wouldn't you have cleaned up the house and then gone to the market? I heard Sister Cui say you could buy it in the morning, but are you someone who believes in superstition?

Bi Yue looked at her husband washing her feet and smiled.

If Wang Daniu hadn't told her to wait for Chu Yifeng, she really wouldn't have believed that he would go to the market so late at night. She just couldn't believe it. Even if she had the money, she couldn't buy it. It wasn't that she had to rush. Treating was one thing, but she didn't want to let the children eat and drink.

He also said self-deprecatingly, "To put it nicely, I'm strong-willed, to put it bluntly, I'm stubborn. The house isn't cleaned up yet, and it doesn't look presentable. I feel like I'm carrying something on my mind, and I'm just anxious."

Chu Yifeng rubbed Bi Yue's calf: "You still know? Look, our family looks good, right? We can finish the work in one day, and we have everything we need, just a little smaller."

"You don't need to help me. The buildings near us are all occupied by military families, and the people coming in and out are all your men.

This is different from Kyoto.

When I was home, my dad told me it was tough for you here. So many people have been here since the training base was built, and you've only been here six months, so you're pretty new here, right?

He is in charge of thousands of people, with such a small funding, and lacks everything. He also has to keep the old hands under control. Many people above him are watching whether such a young person can win the support of the people and manage well.

Don't distract yourself from taking care of the children and cooking because of me, making you look like a househusband. You will look frivolous and people will talk about you.

Besides, you are young, and I know too well the disadvantages of being a young leader.

"Oh? I understand. I thought about it before I came here. I have to give you enough face and let you maintain a good image at all times."

After hearing these words, Chu Yifeng didn't know how to love Bi Yue anymore. He felt that no amount of love would be too much.
