Chapter 8

Bi Yue raised her eyes.

Her throat suddenly felt dry, and a sour feeling instantly rushed to her eyes.

Half a piece of fried dough stick came into view, and Bi Cheng handed it to his mouth like he was presenting a treasure.

"My good roommate is from Tangjin. His mom came to Kyoto on a business trip and brought some fried dough twists. He gave me one. Well, sister, I tried a little. Eat it quickly, don't let it dry out!"

Bi Yue took the twisted dough sticks, her movements slightly stiff. "You made a special trip in the middle of the day just to give it to me?" The Bi Cheng she saw, though not identical to her in features, had fair skin and looked delicate and clean. And he was sweating profusely.

"Let's go!" Bi Yue suddenly grabbed Bi Cheng's arm, which was wiping his sweat, and started jogging.

At the school gate.

"Auntie, give me a bottle of soda."

Bi Cheng grabbed Bi Yue's arm instead. He was anxious: "Sister, how can we drink that?"

A crisp sound: "Why can't we drink it?!"

Arctic Ocean soda, with water droplets on the glass bottle and a cute polar bear.

After the bottle is opened with a "pop", there are continuous bubbles, orange fragrance, icy coolness and sweetness.

Bi Yue and Bi Cheng looked at the soda in their hands face to face. They had the same expression and smiled like children. They just bought a bottle of soda, but they felt satisfied as if they had done something terrible secretly.

"Sister, you drink first!"

"Brother, when I make enough money, we'll buy boxes of it too."

"How do I make money? I'll save some and buy it for my sister when the time comes."

"No, we need to increase revenue and reduce expenditure. Saving alone is not enough. Can you come to my place around 3:00 am the day after tomorrow?"

"Hey? Give me the bottle?!" The proprietress shouted at the backs of the brother and sister.

Mountain artillery enters the city, with hemp rope tied around the waist;

Watch a movie, I don’t know what it’s called;

I drank a bottle of soda and didn't know how to return it.

This is the nursery rhyme that Aixuan often sang when she was a child.

Now that Aixuan has become Bi Yue, she truly understands that there is no such thing as "country bumpkin" in this world. There is only the gap between the poor and the rich. Her eldest brother is so poor that he has lost the courage to see the world.

Bi Yue quickened her pace. She had no time to sigh as she had to rush to her tutoring class.
