Chapter 47 The Little Girl

The people in the slave market continued their daily activities as before, unchanged by yesterday's explosion.

Here, nobody cares about yesterday's explosion.

The slave owners continued to sell their slaves at their respective stalls.

Ji Xian thought of the little girl who ran over yesterday.

They arrived at the same place as yesterday, scanned their surroundings, and quickly spotted the slave owner, whose arm was a mechanical one.

Although he was a slave owner, he didn't seem to be very wealthy.

Because his slaves were all bound with ropes.

The fact that electronic collars weren't put around the necks of slaves suggests either that these slaves weren't worth it, or that the slave owners simply didn't have the money.

It's easy to see that if people had the money, they would use gene therapy to treat the damaged arm instead of getting a prosthetic arm.

In this world, although robotic arms are a high-tech product, they are much cheaper than the extremely scarce and expensive drugs.

Ji Xian walked over and asked, "Hello, where's that little girl from yesterday?"

The slave owner was surprised that Ji Xian would come to him so quickly, and his face lit up with joy, thinking that a business opportunity had come.

"That little girl from yesterday, she's dead. You don't need to worry about those disobedient slaves. I have other, more obedient slaves here. Take a look..."

As the slave owner spoke, he began to introduce the slaves under his command.

Ji Xian interrupted, "How did that little girl die?"

The slave owner glanced at Ji Xian with surprise, wondering why this guest kept asking about that slave, but still answered Ji Xian's question: "It was yesterday's explosion. She was injured by yesterday's explosion and couldn't survive."

Ji Xian felt a pang of guilt; she had actually been killed in an explosion.

Although the explosion wasn't caused by Ji Xian, it was ultimately related to him in some way.

Ji Xian sighed inwardly, and out of sympathy, asked, "Where is her body, and how was it disposed of?"

The slave owner replied, "It's already been thrown into the junkyard next to the market."

Throw?

Ji Xian wanted to question him, but then he suddenly remembered that this was a post-apocalyptic world, and many things seemed perfectly natural.

Ji Xian said, "I want to go see that girl."

The slave owner looked at Ji Xian with a strange gaze, his expression turning unfriendly.

What's wrong with this customer? He's not buying slaves, but just asking what that little female slave is doing here.

What a waste of his time!

The slave owner frowned and said, "It's in the junkyard. If you want to see it, just go and see for yourselves."

Ji Xian didn't linger and headed towards the garbage dump, following the direction.

They soon arrived at the edge of the landfill.

There were piles of garbage here, like small mountains, but they didn't smell as bad as I had imagined.

In a world where food resources are scarce, and there is no food scraps or other household waste, it is naturally not easy for food to rot and smell bad.

The only thing that would produce a putrid smell here is a corpse.

The little girl had just been abandoned there yesterday, and Ji Xian easily found her on the outskirts of the garbage dump.

The little girl's clothes looked like scraps of cloth covering her body, and apart from whip marks and large areas of bruises, there were no obvious bleeding wounds on her body.

Ji Xian guessed that her internal organs had been damaged by the bomb.

Ji Xian only wanted to mourn her silently, and then find a place to give her a proper burial.

It's so pitiful to see a lonely corpse carelessly abandoned; this is contrary to the customs of Ji Xian's world.

Ji Xian stood beside the little girl, feeling a pang of pity.

suddenly.

Ji Xian noticed that the little girl's half-open eyelids seemed to twitch.

Ji Xian was startled, thinking it was his imagination, and even took a half step back in fright.

After all, for someone like Ji Xian who lives in sunshine and spring breeze, seeing dead people is more or less a fear.

If it weren't for his compassion, he wouldn't have come to mourn and look at a corpse.

However, the little girl raised one hand, as if trying to grab something.

Ji Xian was greatly surprised.

She's still alive!

That's not an illusion; the little girl is not dead at all!

Ji Xian was no longer afraid. He immediately stepped closer, squatted down, grabbed the little girl's wrist, and checked her condition.

There was no pulse on the little girl's wrist.

Ji Xian suddenly felt a little lost. This world was different from the real world; there were no hospitals, at least not in this city.

Because of the existence of gene-editing agents, people who have used these agents are almost immune to illness, so there is no need for hospitals to exist.

Ji Xian immediately turned to Xia Luoxue for help: "I need to save her life, how do I do that?"

Xia Luoxue put a bracelet on the little girl; the bracelet could detect her vital signs.

Soon, the data was displayed on the bracelet.

Blood pressure 20-40 mmHg

[Heart rate 20/minute]

[Abnormal vital signs]

[Status: Near death]

Xia Luoxue sighed, "It's no use. There's no hope for this patient. It's a miracle that he's still breathing. It's impossible for a person to survive in this condition."

"Huh?" Ji Xian looked at the little girl. After raising her hand just now, the little girl was like a dead person and did not move at all.

Ji Xian felt a pang of inexplicable pain in her heart; she was still so young.

Ji Xian frowned and asked seriously, "How many gene enhancement drugs do you still have?"

"Three branches."

"Give it to me!"

"Huh?" Xia Luoxue asked in surprise, "What do you want to do?"

"Of course, we should save her."

"You're wasting the medicine."

Ji Xian said again, "Give it to me, quickly!"

He didn't care; he just wanted to save people. Even if he didn't succeed, he had already tried his best and had a clear conscience.
