Chapter 53 Making Money

Ji Xian entered the office.

Qin Shihe showed the little game she had made to Ji Xian.

As Qin Shihe tried it out, she said, "Look, isn't it fun to jump around like this? Then you jump up to collect coins, and there are monsters to avoid... See, isn't it fun?"

The more Ji Xian looked, the darker his expression became.

What the hell is so fun about this?

Or rather, he's gotten tired of this thing.

Ji Xian said, "You think this game is fun? Let me ask you a question: have you ever played Super Mario?"

Qin Shihe shook her head: "I've never played it."

Ji Xian then asked, "What games have you played before?"

Qin Shihe said, "Minesweeper, Spider Solitaire, Pinball on the table..."

Ji Xian was shocked when he heard this.

No wonder she found this game fun; she's clearly never played anything good before.

By the way, she's a graduate of a top-tier university (985 Project). People who can study in places like these don't have time to play games.

It's normal that she hasn't played any fun games, but it's a bit strange that someone as talented as her wants to make a living in the online gaming industry.

Is it to make up for what was missing in my childhood?

To make up for the regret of not having played games as a child?

Regardless of the reason, Ji Xian still pointed out: "Who did you have make this game for you? And didn't anyone in the company say anything?"

Qin Shihe shook her head: "No."

Ji Xian said, "Fire them all!"

"Huh?" Qin Shihe exclaimed, "Why?"

Ji Xian said, "It's one thing if you've never played games, but haven't these people played them either? They're not telling you anything, are they just waiting for the company to go bankrupt?"

Qin Shihe said, "How could that be? Is there something wrong with this game?"

Ji Xian nodded: "This is a big problem. First of all, this kind of game was already commonplace twenty years ago and is now obsolete. If you make a game similar to one from 20 years ago, aren't you just asking the company to go bankrupt?"

Qin Shihe retorted, "I think it's quite fun. If I promote it well, I'm sure many people will enjoy playing it."

Ji Xian shook his head: "Don't you think your game is as rich in content as a game called Mario? How can it possibly be popular?"

The more Ji Xian spoke, the more Qin Shihe disagreed.

"So, according to you, this game is garbage?"

"Mm." Ji Xian nodded without ceremony.

"This is all the result of my team's hard work and dedication. How dare you say it's garbage? I refuse to believe it. I'm determined to make the company its first pot of gold with this game." Qin Shihe's competitive spirit kicked in, and she retorted defiantly.

Ji Xian knew that once Qin Shihe set her mind on something, she would not give up until she achieved her goal.

This is both her strength and her weakness.

Ji Xian suddenly felt somewhat powerless in the face of Qin Shihe's argument.

Although he was the actual controller of the company, he originally wanted to be a hands-off manager.

Ji Xian himself said that he would provide the money, Qin Shihe would provide the labor, and all company affairs would be managed by Qin Shihe.

Now that opinions have diverged, Ji Xian realizes that if Qin Shihe doesn't listen, there's nothing he can do, since it's Qin Shihe who's implementing the plan.

Ji Xian actually had no way to deal with her.

Ji Xian frowned. If he wanted to truly control the company, he needed Qin Shihe to obey him.

Ji Xian thought for a moment and said, "Alright, since you insist, how about we make a bet?"

Qin Shihe asked, "What are we betting on?"

Ji Xian said, "Let's bet on whether this game will be popular."

Qin Shihe said, "Okay, I'll bet. What if I win?"

"If you win, all my shares and the company will be yours, and I will leave."

Qin Shihe was shocked when she heard this; Ji Xian had actually made such a big bet.

"I don't want you to leave the company," Qin Shihe said. "Do you look down on me that much?"

Ji Xian: "It's not a matter of looking up to or down on me, it's just... sigh, never mind." Ji Xian was too lazy to explain.

Qin Shihe has been stubborn and unwilling to admit defeat since she was a child. Once she sets her mind on something, she never looks back. The more Ji Xian doesn't think highly of her, the more determined she becomes.

“Since we’re going to gamble, then if I lose, all my shares will go to you, and I’ll leave this company,” Qin Shihe said seriously.

Ji Xian raised an eyebrow: "What kind of pipe dream are you having? You think you can leave the company just because you lost?"

Qin Shihe asked in confusion, "What else can I do if I do something wrong and don't leave?"

Ji Xian said, "If you lose, you'll just lose the whole company and leave it to me to clean up the mess.

Qin Shihe thought about it and realized that was indeed the case. She couldn't help but laugh awkwardly and said, "Then tell me, what if I lose?"

Ji Xian said, "If you lose, you are absolutely not allowed to leave the company. From now on, whatever I say goes. If I say go east, you can't go west. If I say go left, you can't go right. You must follow my lead and carry out my decisions unconditionally and do your best to complete them."

Qin Shihe said, "That's it?"

"Yes, that's it!"

Qin Shihe affirmed, "Okay, I agree to the bet. It's settled then. Do you want to draw up a written agreement?"

Ji Xian shook his head: "No need, just remember what I said today."

"Okay!" Qin Shihe readily agreed. She had won, but she didn't really want Ji Xian to leave. She was just unconvinced and wanted to show Ji Xian that she could achieve great things.

Ji Xian got up to leave.

Qin Shihe suddenly called out to him.

"Since we're going to gamble, I'm going to go all out. The company's funds are simply not enough for me to do marketing and promotion. Even if you win, I won't be satisfied."
